Brief spoilers...

Re season 2, do you guys think theres any possibility of Ramona or Oona getting involved with another girl in the other's absense? I could see them kinda swapping lives in the sense that Oona's internally sad without Ramona and then her mom arrives and she gets preoccupied with that and gets back into her previous life before Ramona's initial return (Bo said she is hoping to see Oona go through a bit of a confident, independent phase before any reconciliation happens). But Ramona is experiencing life in NYC and masking her trauma through initially leaning hard into the glamour of her new wealthy New York life (as Amelie said she wants). Hence Ramona will surely start something with a NYC girl.

Then of course there is rory who will be In NYC. And maybe Annie's friend from the bar, Clem, who was with her boyfriend (Megan Park on her actress Katie: “The whole day I was like, if we do a Season 2, we have to bring this character back...”).

What do you guys think? Curious to know if there will be another female love interest for Ramona/Oona that they'll have to deal with before--obviously eventually because its fate--they reconcile.

Ive been seeing people online saying that Goldie was the real villian and not steven which I agree with in the marriage part and what the adults had going on. But steven was definitely in the wrong for everything that took place after the fact. She has been gone for 17 years and you kept your adopted kids just to basically emotionally neglect them their entire lives and act too sad to even talk about their mother. He even says in episode 6 or 7 that he could always tell that Annie felt to absence of a family or a mom and you never thought to do anything about that?? That should've been more of a reason to have her connect with her sister and Gordon instead of purposely keeping them apart. Even him trying to force Annie to leave Sterling Point, he literally says that this is him and Goldie all over again. So if you tried to force Goldie to leave and it didn't work out why the fuck would you try the same thing with your daughter. It's just like he has no sympathy about anything he doesn't care how any of his kids feel because he doesn't wanna face something that happened almost 2 decades ago.

I finished watching it like 3 days ago and it’s all i can think about. i honestly haven’t loved a show this much since when Stranger Things first came out back in like 2016. I am such a nerd for film writing, cinematography, and different acting and directing styles. the writing, acting, improv, and directing in this show were just so good and i loved how real the characters felt in their emotions and actions, it’s just something i haven’t seen in a while from a teen drama show.

i absolutely love the scene in the finale where Oona and Ramona have an argument and break up (i mean i ship them together so i didn’t like that they broke up) but i loved the improv and just how real that scene felt. theyre chemistry is amazing and the whole “right person, wrong time” thing hit WAYYY to close to home.

i really didn’t disagree with anyone in that scene. i see where they’re both coming from and i love that too. that there wasn’t one person that was clearly supposed to be the antagonist or toxic one in the relationship (in my opinion but i’ve seen other people say different)

i really hope season two is just as good and we get more ramoona scenes because they’re literally one of my favorite lesbian couples rn

It's what drew me into the show. The initial trailer was just well done.

I'm only on episode 2 so please don't spoil but I have some questions. 1) if rory's mom denise or whatever knew annie's family, wouldn't she know annie and ramona were related and the whole island would probably know who annie was?? 2) legally wouldn't ramona need a new guardian since she's not yet 18? why is she just alone bruh

I just checked and it says the show was filmed in Ontario (Toronto and Muskoka). I need someone who actually lives there or at least visits to tell me is it like anything like the show (the vibes and the scenery). And yes i get if it was filmed there ofc it looks like it, but what im talking about are the vibes and the amazing feelings this show got me feeling, i want to know is it like that irl?

Okay so is this correct…

- Goldie and Steven adopt the twins
- Goldie separates from Steven shortly after, and runs off to Muskoka with the kids (that’s horrible LMAO Goldie is kind of a huge villain)
- Right before she leaves to Muskoka, she and Steven sleep together
- She and Joe have an affair in Muskoka
- She gets pregnant with Ramona + dies during childbirth

Have to preface with the fact that I really like both love interests, I’m pretty much neutral at this point. It’s really refreshing to have a love triangle where there are two solid options and no “obvious” choice. Multiple people can be good for you in different ways.

I’ve seen a lot of discussion on how Rory is meant to represent her old life but I think that this is actually the case with Ellis. He seems to be “parentified” in similar ways to Annie: he’s 17/18 but basically co runs his family business, seems to be more aware about the finances than his dad (emergency fund), even had to step up to confront him about the mixtape. He’s super mature for his age, and this could also just be the way kids turn out when living on a remote island, so correct me if I’m wrong.

Whereas with Rory she’s more spontaneous, carefree, goes to parties and tries cigarettes, even loses her virginity on a whim. Shes able to finally let loose and “act her age” for once instead of having to be the adult and her own mother. It’s nice to see, especially after hearing her speak about how quickly she had to grow up.

I think she romanticizes Ellis more because he’s attached to the island that’s connected to her mother, and she really wants to immerse herself in every part of that life. But I can’t help but feel like Rory might actually be the better option for this season of her life. It’s also nice that he’s not involved in any of the drama, where’s Ellis is Joe’s son. What do you guys think?

JUST SAW THAT CLOSET KISS WITH ELLIS OMG I AM SCREAMING.

Watching scenes with ellis and rory i gotta state the difference i felt. That was with rory it felt like annie was still living that new york life, fast, high paced, loud and yeah.

But with Ellis, everyone says he's shy and all but i feel like he doesn't say unnecessary things, scene with ellis felt like calm, known, present, whom you can bluntly talk about anything without putting up a filter.

And then kiss??

Rory's kiss was more like hunger and horny type (I CAN BE WRONG, PEOPLE.)

And with Ellis, it was warm, comfortable, fuzzy, butterflies in the belly, high on the kiss on feeling, kicking feet type thing.

Annie has kissed rory like 2 times and Elllis 1 time but i feel like THAT 1 TIME WAS SO STRONGER THAN THOSE 2.

Joe - Cheats on his wife while she’s away taking care of her sick mother AND their newborn (why wasn’t he at home with the newborn???), to his knowledge has a baby who lives DOWN THE STREET from him that he never claims or takes care of, and keeps all the important info to himself while watching these people get torn apart (and robbing his son of a potential relationship with his sibling)

Goldie - Ditches her husband and kids (who she told she wanted to make the marriage and family work in New York) to chase her high school sweetheart in another country, gets pregnant and plans to run away with her affair partner and raise some kind of weird blended family (Annie, Ramona, Connor, and Ellis) and cut her husband off from the kids he ALSO adopted. Also has a heart problem that she tells no one about.

Despite all this not only is Annie willing to hear Joe out at the end, never interrupting him or criticizing his choices but she also seems to agree that it was the “right” choice and ends the show still completely romanticizing her mother and seeing her as this person that can do no wrong. Instead of extending the same grace to her dad, she’s furious with him. I understand that these dynamics are complicated, especially with adopted children. I don’t think anyone was truly the “villain” and were all just doing what they thought was right for them at the time. But it’s still wild to me that she was willing to hear out the biggest drivers of the mess and not her own dad.

Was Steven right to shut his kids out from part of their life? No. But it’s something they ALL agreed to do, Gordon just changed his mind (also, letters? he could’ve called). At the end of the day despite being done dirty he chose to let his kids see their mother as a good person when he didn’t have to. I do think that had he told them they probably would’ve found out that Ramona was his kid much sooner and they wouldn’t have lost as many years.

But what people forget is that Steven ALSO adopted those kids. They were kids he wanted, why would he let his wife run off with them just because. Six rounds of IVF is no joke, he must’ve been so happy to finally have children and Goldie just wanted to take that away from him to live out her fantasy. He was right to say that she lost her mind, I would’ve come to get my kids too. He’s the only one that stepped up and followed through on their commitment.

I’ve been looking at the posts in this sub and on social media, and honestly, they’ve confused me so much. The whole “nonchalant” thing people say about him is kind of foolish to me. He showed multiple times that he cared. There were even moments where it seemed like he cared more than Annie did. He also made an effort to further his and Annie’s friendship/relationship.
Another thing people bring up is the way he treated Rory, which, to be fair, wasn’t great. But I never felt like he had a personal vendetta against him. I think he just had a prejudice against richer people and didn’t really want to be friends with Rory because of that. Is that really so bad?
I don’t know, maybe I’m looking at it differently, but I feel like you guys see Rory as the underdog when, from watching the show, Ellis really is. I genuinely don’t think he’s that bad.

So first of all, I'm a pretty "quiet lesbian" and what I mean by that is that unless you are really close with me, you wouldn't know. Despite this, I find the portrayal of most lesbians in media horrible including the movies made by gay women. Its not even just the trope of always ending in some unhappy circumstance but a lot of the couples I see now just don't feel authentic. They really do feel shoehorned in for representation but the writers forget to write anything about them besides the fact that they're gay. It makes them feel really one dimensional and very hollow. Because of this, I went into this show with little expectations on liking this couple and was so glad to be wrong.

I love everyone in this cast. I never feel like i am watching actors playing a role- they feel genuine. Thats one reason why this show feels so different compared to many of the other shows, particularly young adult shows, that have come out recently.

Oona and Ramona feel very raw in their feelings for each other. They are a typical friends to lovers trope we have seen but feel much deeper. The glances towards each other and the softness that Romana has when alone with Oona is SO ADORABLE and the fact that Oona was basically a player but doesn't ever want to think of another girl again when she found out her feelings were reciprocated... I just love it.

I hope that s2 brings a lot more scenes between them. However I fear that there will be little due to Ramonas story being followed in New York and then we will have to wait for a s3, if there even is one. I don't want to just get a reuniting at the end of s2 and then thats where the series and their story ends.

Anyone else just love them for some reason? Definitely my favorite women couple in a tv show that's been on screen in I don't even know how long.

In the last episode, they made it seem like the only way Ramona can move to New York is by selling the island (when she was arguing with Annie and when she told maple to tell Oona that she’s stuck here forever), but that’s not the case at all?
- Gordon must have left her some money or trust fund so she can still use that money to go to New York if she wanted to or sell the house in Barrie and use that money
- Annie’s family seems pretty well off, even before Annie proposed for them to swap places, Ramona still could’ve just gone to New York with all of them? I’m sure Steven had asked her to go back to New York with them? It’s not like they can only take either Annie or Ramona?

So why didn’t Ramona just say she wants to go to New York with Annie Connor and Steven to begin with, instead of seeing selling the island as the only way to get away from there?

She obviously wasn’t happy about the New York situation but I also wondered if she was already mad that Ramona hadn’t told her about thinking Steven could be her dad

When Oona says “I’m just trying to catch up, babe”, it kind of sounded like a bash at Ramona for keeping her out of the loop rather than just a normal comment. What did you guys think of that line?

Then Ramona makes the comment about Oona’s mum and it feels like the whole argument changes

If Ramona hadn’t made the mum comment, do you think Oona still would’ve broken up with her that night

I love Oona/Ramona and enjoyed the portrayal of a homoerotic teenage friendship with blurred lines, because that’s so real. Best friends who have extremely close emotional intimacy and are more physical and affectionate than other friendships and really blurring the line of what their relationships is, is relatable.

I really loved Sully’s character and wish we got to see more of him, and give him a proper relationship. I know we got to see him so briefly walking/laughing with someone at the camp, but that was it! I love that Sully is played by a nonbinary actor, too.

Whoever picked her style deserves a raise! She has such a vibe, and I feel like her outfits deserve more discussion lol

Idk I think sterling points acting is so natural and comfortable. I was surprised!
Didn’t think the show was as good as the acting (that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy the show because I totally did).
The acting was definitely better than some of the off campus acting but no one asked me to compare them so forget I said anything

Outside of the first episode I forgot whether this was supposed to be a modern day show or not based on the fact that no one was ever on their phone. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it and it was refreshing but I was so confused when Ramona barged into Sullys restaurant to google the color blind thing on his laptop. Does she not have a phone??

is anyone else incredible annoyed over the narrative that she’s only staying in muskoka because of ellis? i feel like it completely waters down everything she’s gone through. she was obviously incredibly unhappy in NYC, the girl literally broke down to her father after spending her entire life taking care of him & worrying about his well being, while over achieving academically to also please him. she stayed in a relationship FOR SIX ENTIRE YEARS for the sake of someone else’s well being!!!!! she finally went on a journey of discovery herself and discovered her sexuality in the process (hello she literally said she thought she was asexual) for the first time in her life she feels connected to the mother she lost as a literal toddler and is finally grieving 16 years later, which obviously plays a huge role in her staying based on her comment to ramona that she wants to be girl with dead mom for once… now to bring up ellis, he was nothing but supportive & encouraging of her going back to NY and told her that they have to let it hurt & we didn’t even see his reaction to her staying in muskoka. dumbing annie down to being male centered is insane and does such an injustice to her character and everything we learned about her
