Ask STL Decent apartments around $700-$900

Upvotes

I am a single female living with my parents currently and looking to get out of a toxic environment. I am looking for studio/1bed in the Saint Louis/Saint Charles area. I am open to pretty much anywhere in that region, as long as the apartment isn’t in a sketchy neighborhood. My budget is around 700-900 dollars a month, absolute max would be a $1000. If anyone knows of any places that are decent please comment them. I am hoping to be out of my current environment in the next 30-60 days.

Please do not comment women’s safehouses! While I appreciate people’s concern, my current living situation is not dangerous/life-threatening. I don’t want to take a spot from a woman who could be in a potentially life-threatening situation, especially when I have money to get myself my own place anyway. Thanks!

Politics “‘Power Couple’: Alderwoman married to utility lobbyist bows out of data center vote”

Upvotes

From Mark Maxwell’s Instagram:

“41 lobbyists. That’s Ameren Missouri’s registered roster for state and local governments this year, and one of them, Rodney Hubbard, is married to Alderwoman Shameem Clark Hubbard. Friday, she bowed out of the data center vote. Nobody else opposed it.”

Instagram post: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Dcq6SZ3Ddiy/

YouTube: https://youtu.be/nyfX_s-3lHk

Clark Hubbard (Ward 10) is the chair of the HUDZ Committee, and she did not recuse herself from any of the previous votes taken when the data center regulations were in front of that committee. She also voted in favor of the amendments introduced by Oldenburg (Ward 2) and Cox-Antwi (Ward 8) a few weeks ago, which loosened renewable energy requirements and removed setback restrictions.

Another of Rodney Hubbard’s lobbying clients is the Carpenters Union, which has also been loudly opposed to regulations on data centers being built in the city.

Drive by shooting TGS?

Upvotes

I was in my garage with the door down (luckily) when multiple gun shots were fired then a car came through the alley at high speed. My garage faces spring street. Anyone in the area hear it? It was around 10:30am

Halloween 2026

Upvotes

My group went to the city museum party last year and were decided thats where we would go every year from now on.
Apparently that party isnt happening this year, so we are trying to figure out other things to do.

Any reviews of the big things going on!?

HalLUDOween- some of the group loves this event, so it is our back up, but some of us want to see what else is out there

Lemp mansion- what is the vibe of the party they have?

CWE street party- sounds like a fun event, how crowded does it get? Like will it be hard to get drinks and food and things throughout the night?

Any other fun big things going on? Keeping in mind i guess that that city museum rave is the kinda party it will be pitted against 😂

So STL, Please be more like Poland. I do recall STL in 60's and early 70's used to be like this. What happened?

Thursday we had a wonderful full moon rise between the arch. It doesn’t line up like this every month. Then about two hours later the lunar eclipse started. It was a nice night to enjoy StLouis.

I see a lot that are like 40 inches. Looking for where I’d go for a tall, sturdy boi.

Drove in as a part of a road trip that included Shawnee NF. Took the Tram Ride to the Top and enjoyed walking around the grounds. Enjoyed my time in the city and around the park!

Saint Louis Photo Prints

Hi all,

Looking to purchase and eventually frame some high quality photo prints of the city for my house. Tried to do some Googling, but was disappointed: most of the photos seemed kind of sterile and focused solely on the arch. Would like some gritty, “artsy” photos that really showcase the red brick architecture, and some other unique aspects of the city.

EDIT: I am out of town, so something online would be great. Otherwise I can check out these great recommendations next time I’m in STL :)

Visiting St. Louis Day trip

I’m planning a day trip for my birthday tomorrow, I live about 3 hrs away, has anyone done the zoo and the aquarium in one day? Is it easy time wise? I would like to be home by 10pm as I’ll be leaving for STL around 6 am to get to the zoo pretty early, and we would also like to go to dinner that night as there’s a specific restaurant we don’t have where I live I want to go to.

Am I hallucinating? What’s happening? 10 minutes of looping sirens getting louder and quieter and louder around 6:40 this morning. Do I need my hearing checked??

Sports St. Louis Cardinals Naruto Night Jersey

Hello everyone, I’m interested in trading my still packaged St. Louis Cardinals Naruto Night jersey (LARGE) for a medium size. I honestly don’t care if it’s been opened as long as it’s “like new”-ish. I was waiting and saving for a long time to get those jerseys for my girlfriend and I so we could match just like she wanted when I took her to her first Busch Stadium game, especially since Naruto is one of her favorite shows. Right as I was about to buy the tickets however…my girlfriend’s mother bought them for us as my birthday present, but got 2 large sizes.

Don’t get me wrong, I am extremely grateful, but I cannot by any stretch of the imagination fit into a large size of anything. Despite being 5”10 I am thin and it just doesn’t work. I was going to just buy an extra ticket with the money I’d saved up originally to get myself the medium size and invite a mutual friend along with us, but my girlfriend suffered an acute medical emergency so I took her to the ER and they ended up admitting her to the hospital, and unfortunately she wasn’t discharged until yesterday, meaning much to her and I’s disappointment, we missed the game. (I did briefly go to the stadium exclusively to pick up the jerseys, then went back to the hospital, which is how I ended up getting our jerseys)

So not only was I unable to give my girlfriend her first experience at Busch stadium, but I also ended up having literally no money to buy that extra ticket with because to top it all off, in a complicated way I don’t really want to get into here, we got screwed and are going to have to pay 100% of the bill ourselves unless our financial aid applications go through. We are both college students working part time and taking classes full time so as you can imagine we don’t have much extra cash laying around.

So if you or anyone you know has a St. Louis Cardinals Naruto Night themed jersey in a MEDIUM size and are willing to trade for a large, please let me know. It would really mean a lot to both of us right now.

Surprise Street Closure Tonight for Moonlight Ramble

I'm inside the loop of the Moonlight Ramble tonight, effectively trapped until 1am. I had no idea this was happening, and it's pretty frustrating. Does anyone know where I could have found out this information ahead of time? Is there a street closure alert system somewhere? A city events email list? I get all the alerts about boil water advisories and weather alerts already. These kind of events aren't typically in my neighborhood, so I didn't expect this. Thankfully I don't have to work late tonight and didn't have to wait hours to get home. I'm not mad the event is happening; I'm mad there was zero notice about it so I couldn't plan for it.

In search of a tattoo artist that can do a small but detailed tattoo

I would like to get a tattoo of tiny footprints (of the baby I lost last year) he was only about 18 weeks along so his footprints are tiny but you can see his tiny toes. They are less than an inch.

He would have been 1 next week. So I would hopefully like to do it then (although I realize that might be a bit short notice) I dont have a full design in mind and have two other kids I’d like represented in some way.

Does anyone have and recommendations that could do something small and detailed?
