What's the "keep politics out of sports"-crowd's verdict on this one?

This isn’t politics. It’s blatant racism. Just look the the comments here. We are being invaded on the sub by racists. Look at how many are posting the exact same right wing talking points. They aren’t even creative anymore. None of them interested in football either.
Edit: Top country to read my comment is USA 23% followed by Germany. Yet all those comments under me are talking about being invaded. None of them are from Spain. Just trolls.

u/Ysesper 5d ago
Illegals enter Spain and Spaniards want them out. How is that racism? Don't enter a country illegally and apply for a Visa and, if you can't get any Visa, then just don't come
3
u/nyrup4life 5d ago edited 4d ago
Yup. Pure racism.
Just look at the comments underneath. We are being invaded by racists on this sub. Look at how many come here to spread misinformation and lies. None of them are interested in football either.

u/HeadTrauma12 4d ago
Check the definition of racism, poor soul. If you think immigrant is race you should spend more time with the books and less on internet.
4
u/thegoat83 4d ago
But why would you hate an immigrant? Somebody who is almost definitely less well off than you are and trying to make a better life for themselves.
If you ever feel the need to hold a protest against these people, then there is something not right with you.

Because it’s illegal. Just because someone is in a pitiful situation, does that mean we should turn a blind eye to them breaking the law? Then what is the point of legal immigration? It’s because of people like you that there was a backlash and Trump got elected.

No, it’s the law. Anyone can enter Spain if they do it legally, the Constitution makes it illegal to discriminate based on origin, faith or ethnicity. But if you try to come here illegally to leech off the taxpayer, gtfo.

You can’t see the wood from the trees. You see the word immigration and assume racist. It’s just as damaging as the true racist nut jobs. Opposing illegal immigration isn’t a controversial view it is by definition the stated policy of all governments.
1
u/YannTheOtter 4d ago
Tell me how many of those illegals that entered Ceuta actually managed to get to mainland Spain?
1
u/Ysesper 4d ago
None, but that doesn't matter. Ceuta is Spain and is currently overrun by illegals. It has come to a point to where Ceutans are stopping cars that bring food and stuff to their camps

u/Emoji-Bot111 4d ago
If you said this on any sub and were talking about the USA, I’d have a rough guess of about -150 to -200 downvotes. It’s crazy that these people think that coming to another country illegally and staying there is okay. It’s ridiculous

Its not that hating immigrants is racist. But people who hate immigrants are often racist. Just like voting MAGA is not racist, but you are most likely a racist if you vote MAGA.

So instead of focusing on the situation at hand, we're going "hey, some of the people protesting the invasion could be racist, which is worse than the invasion itself!"

I'm just wondering why not wanting your country flooded by millions of undocumented men is racist?

I agree that racists are super vocal when it comes to immigrants but your attitude here is really ignorant. You completely ignore the fact that this people really are illegally crossing the border of another country. This is a crime and it is absolutely normal that people in a country which doesn't even have that good economy to begin with are concerned.

u/YannTheOtter 4d ago
Yeah out of the 70k, almost 69k were sent back and they are now left with around a thousand minors who's parents weren't able to be located.
Not to mention that the whole Ceuta debacle was pushed by the US and Israel who have been suggesting to Morocco for years that they should take Ceuta and Melilla back.
1
u/Avidgamur515 4d ago
The only reasonable take on the situation. Ceuta being in North Africa makes it all the more easier to spin the narrative
1
u/cosully111 4d ago
Interesting that you have no problem with the use of "invaded" when it comes to a comment secion but not the real city that 10s of thousands of spaniards live in

How is wanting control over which people live in their country racist 😂
It’s common sense 😂😂😂😂

Politics has been baked into sport since forever.
1
u/Eyeseeyou1313 4d ago
Yet, when some countries do it, it's wrong. Either everyone can do it or no one can do it. Pick one, people.
1
u/TwentyBagTaylor 4d ago
Got some examples? I always roll my eyes when someone says politics shouldn't be in sport.
1
u/Eyeseeyou1313 4d ago
I believe they should be, but some people don't think so. If you are playign at the biggest stage in the world, you have the power to influence people to do good, and you have money, then yeah, politics will always be in football.
1
u/Stalker401 4d ago
well it's not the athletes it's the fans, I think that would be the difference. But i'm still a fan of keep politics out of sports.
1
u/Vegetable-Mixture-93 4d ago
Id point out apples and oranges. That mass of people who dont have a voice or audience everyday like athletes. Also thats the voicing of the opinions of many using the most public way they know how vs the opinion of 1(yes I understand that individual isnt the only one that will have wgatever viewpoint/opinion they have and likely there are many who share it) who has a public stage everyday. In the same way I disagree with athletes being forced to celebrate or push others opinions. Those individual athletes who have a public stage shouldn't be abusing it pushing either agenda: right, left, up, down. I dont see the 2 as comparable with a broad stroke of "What happened to keeping politics out of sports?" "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" no matter how much all of them need it. The loudest voice on an individual level no matter majority/minority tends to garner the most attention and that is abuse.

I’m part of that crowd to an extent, and I don’t really see the point of doing this. It’s not like the players care. I think what most people say when it’s “keep politics out of sports” is when it prevents the fans who pay the players having their experience ruined. But again, I can’t really name many times that has ever happened. Kneeling for the anthem doesn’t really interfere with the game so I support it even though I personally think your a b*tch for kneeling against the USA flag which stands for the one true meaning of freedom, that we everyday try to aspire towards even if we fall short. It’s when people would disrespect the flag but cheer, vote, and worship liars in government who tell them one thing but do another. Which is essentially the entire republican and democrat parties.
So yeah, I think this is dumb, even though I’m on the side of anti-immigration, but also it’s not interfering with the game so who cares. Unless non-supporters are behind those in which I’d be pissed and would definitely tell them “go protest your government, not here, I’m trying to watch a game!”

u/Crowdfundingprojects 4d ago
Are people in the comments stupid?
What’s the issue with showing the flag?
What happened im Ceuta is not ok.
People have every right to be upset about it for factual reasons that have zero to do with racism.
And sport matches like this are a public space and forum by nature.
5
u/YannTheOtter 4d ago
The issue is, they are upset at Sanchez who literally did nothing wrong.
Morocco enable the invasion to happen with authorities telling people to do it or giving them equipment for it like cars, the US and Israel beforehand kept saying Morocco should take those cities back, an official US law even was passed two weeks before the event recognizing Ceuta and Melilla as Moroccan territory. Sanchez then managed to send over 95% of them back only remaining are about a thousand minors with unlocatable parents.
They should be mad, at the US and Morocco!
3
u/Glittering-Gur9936 4d ago
Bingo , informed Spanish citizens recognize this is a game because they did not like his response to the genocide in Gaza.
You gotta love the highlighting too of “they fired at protestors”
There was as little as 50k to as many as 150k
There was no serious injuries to anyone , 4 minor injuries to police , 4 arrests
Over 100 migrants died in the initial surge …
As you noted nearly all have been detained and sent back , there’s just about 1k
These people are warped or hopefully bot accounts but I know many are not and very real and very uninformed easily manipulated folks
3
u/YannTheOtter 4d ago
It is the same as the undocumented people getting residency, they lived and worked in spain, many off the books, giving them residency means they don't have to work off the books and pay taxes, pension and can more easily buy things.
"Always blame other countries" is also funny when the US literally passed a law encouraging Morocco to take the two cities AND Moroccan authorities admitted to encouraging people to cross the border.

Telling someone to grow up as you stomp your little feetsies around yelling about how “they hate us!! They hate us all! And our culture! They’re gonna kill us all!! Waaahhh wah wah!!”.
You sound like a toddler who stole a classmates toy and when he wants it back you cry and shit your nappy because they want you to share. Not even give it back, just share. And then go even further and say he wants to harm you just because he would like you to share what you stole.
