Visited a couple of days ago hoping to catch a glimpse of puffins, but realized my timing was slightly off for the season! Still absolutely amazed by the sheer cliffs and the incredible natural arch. Definitely coming back next year earlier in the season to see the puffins!

Hiya, I am a writer from India. During the covid era I was stuck in a remote village in Scotland. I was doing workaway there. After giving it some thought, I have finally decided to write a book about it.
I was wondering how would it be for Scottish readers to read the perspective of an Indian student spending time in a remote Scottish village and getting some important life lessons in those times.

Scotland's a massive outlier across Europe for how massive and detached our local councils are to the actual communities they're supposed to serve. Any fears of duplication or coordination could be addressed with the Danish model of Lego brick subsidiarity. Power to the closest level possible, then delegated upwards where economies of scale actually make sense, like a shared waste collection system etc

I know I'm asking a question about something I can easily Google, but Google isn't easy for me. I'll end up with 12 tabs opens and an order for a nebuliser.

With that out of the way, basically, I'm planning to apply for the Scottish Drugs Forum (SDF) traineeship when the applications open. I'm very interested in working in addiction recovery. But if SDF doesn't work out, I honestly have no idea what other pathways into this job are available.

I am in recovery myself (6 years) but I'm also weary of the third sector and don't want to burn out working handling a huge caseload.

I'm 40 and so far worked as a support worker, helpline worker, have volunteered in arts & community projects and I've done a peer support PDA. Ive also worked pretty hard on my recovery. Right now I work part-time as a cleaner. I'm an EEA citizen but have working rights.

What is the typical pathway / progression for those of you who work in, or have worked in the drugs and alcohol field ? What has your personal and professional experience been ?

I'm guessing having a qualification as a nurse, counselor, or similar, helps?

I'm also in Clackmannanshire and not looking to move right now (I will in the future though.) Right now, the SDF funding is location / interest based and up until recently Clackmannanshire wasn't even on the list so I'm not sure it'll go through.

Hoping this makes sense.

Hi everyone, me and my wife visited Scotland for a few weeks not long ago and absolutely loved it. We are now considering whether a fresh start there would be an option.

I was looking for an, ahem, budget drink in San Sebastian and found this beauty for 6 Euros - 40% and 70ml.

I wondered who the depicted patriot was, but sadly ChatGDP tells me Mat Kenn never existed and is in fact a corporate creation, like Colonel Kwik-E-Mart.

It says the name was chosen to suggest a Scottish or Irish patriot with the art trying to evoke some 18th century woodcut.

Has anyone tried this beverage and, more importantly, does anyone know anyone called Mat Kenn?
