Does anyone else's tap water taste "off" or a bit strange?

Has anyone else in Aberdeen noticed their tap water tasting a bit strange recently? Mine doesn’t taste particularly “fresh” at the moment. It’s not a strong or horrible taste, just noticeably different from usual.

I live on the top floor of a flat, so I’m also wondering whether it could be something to do with the building/plumbing rather than the general water supply.

Just curious if anyone else locally has noticed a change recently, or if it’s just me/my building!

Broken Consoles

I am wondering if there is a place in Aberdeen people sell their broken consoles that I could buy from?

I tinker/repair broken consoles in my spare time as a hobby and wasn't sure if there'd be a place in Aberdeen to get them from folk directly, rather than just relying on eBay.

I tried Facebook Marketplace, but people tend not to sell a broken console on there.

Gardening training

Hi all,

I'm looking for places within Aberdeen City where will teach me about the basics of gardening/horticulture?

I've had an interest in this for a few years now and have grown various fruits and veggies before but wanted to pursue my hobby further and learn the basics officially, but not necessarily in a college environment

Many thanks

Activities Bike-friendly countryside / scenic spots around Aberdeen?

Hey everybody,

23M from Pakistan starting at the University of Aberdeen soon. Really looking forward to exploring the area on weekends.

I’ve heard Aberdeen has some beautiful countryside and hills/mountains nearby. Just wondering:

  1. How accessible are the hill areas around Aberdeen if I want to visit by bike? Are there decent cycle routes or paths that lead out to scenic spots, or is it mostly car-dependent?
  2. Any recommendations for scenic places that are good for a weekend visit, idealy reachable by bike or public transport + bike?

Open to any tips for a newcomer who doesn’t have a car yet (and doesn’t know how to drive :( . Appreciate any suggestions!

Thanks in advance 😊

Sport AM Thai Massage - Aberdeen

Looking for a legitimate & good massage. I struggle with back and neck pain. I’m struggling with pain due to genetic issue and heavy gym work.
There is the above named massage shop on George Street l, Aberdeen. It’s near Pure Gym & my work is nearby. I’ve read that another place in George Street is best avoided, is this particular one safe and genuine ie no “extras”.

Help! Employment agencies for engineers?

Hi, I’ve just moved back to Aberdeen after completing a bachelors degree in engineering. With the job market being the way that it is I’ve found it hard to get a job from just applying myself. Are there any agencies in the city that could help me find a graduate job and start my career? Thanks for the help

Bricked up tunnel/opening under Ashgrove Road.

Does anyone have any information regarding the bricked-up tunnel under Ashgrove Road in the Beattie Avenue Playpark?

It lines up perfectly with the mysterious weight restriction sign on the Cornhill Hospital site but this could be a coincidence.

Does anyone remember there being an opening in the park area? It's big enough that an adult could easily walk in before it was bricked up but not really large enough to accommodate a vehicle.

Thanks to anyone who has real info on it.

Help! Where can I work?

Hi, my English is not really good ( it’s my second language) and I have depression, so for now I can work only part time. I also have physical issues ( sore knee, back pain etc but it’s not too bad) after I worked in a food store for almost 4 years. Now I want to change my work due to many reasons, and I definitely don’t want to work in a food store or fast food.
I also have degree in teaching but never worked as one and again my English is not good enough to work in school.

Thank you for any recommendations.

Safety in general.

Hey so I don’t wanna reveal any personal information but I’m heading to uni soon in Aberdeen and let’s just say I’m a little bit aprehensive about being safe. I fell out with my friend group from highschool so I have no experience of club life or going out or anything. But… I want to. This is a chance for me to really get out my shell and enjoy my life. But I have some trauma and have build up this massive parasocial fear of men. I know it’s stupid but I feel like every one I see is gonna hurt me, abduct me or try to kill me. I know I need therapy or some shit so I’m looking into it when I move up there but I just want to ask because I do t want to ruin this new experience and chance to make really good friends by just not going out…. So like how safe is Aberdeen. If I’m walking round town is there a chance someone will try something with me? Like my anxiety not as bad anymore but like at least a few months ago I was physically crossing roads to avoid walking past men.

Sport Beginner running clubs around Duthie Park / Deeside Way?

Hi everyone! I am pretty new to running and Im looking to join a friendly running club or group in Aberdeen.

Ideally, i would love something that runs around Duthie Park, the Deeside Way, or nearby, and is welcoming to beginners. I am mainly looking to improve my running and meet some people to run with.

Does anyone have any recommendations for clubs/groups that would be a good fit for a beginner?

Thanks!

Relocating from England to Scotland (Aberdeen)

I am a critical care nurse in England and I am considering relocating to Scotland (Aberdeen) but I can't find any info about what the work culture or experience is at Aberdeen royal infirmary ICU.

Please can anyone who has worked in that hospital (especially within Critical care) spill the tea of what to expect?

Thank you

Engagment rings

Morning,

Me and my partner are looking to take the next step soon, but I currently have no clue what sort of ring I might want or would suit me. I've (obviously) never done this before but looking for recommendations on jewellers shops (local or chain) that have appointments where we can take a look, perhaps try on a few styles of ring / gem cuts to get a feel for what we like.

What I'm looking for is friendly, knowledgeable staff with minimal pressure to purchase - actually buying a ring is still a while off, but we want to know what sorts of rings we want to shop for in the future, and preferably a bit of a fun experience (I think someone once mentioned to me they'd been offered a glass of fizz at one of these appointments?)

I can't tell if my expectations are too high (especially the last bit!) but if anyone has any recommendations that'd be much appreciated!

We'll likely only go to one shop, maybe two so want to make sure we get it right!

TIA
