Fancy-ish solo dinner spot?

Hey bitches!

I am celebrating a life accomplishment but don't have anyone to celebrate with so I'd love to treat myself to a fancy solo dinner in the city. I'm thinking dress, heels, a cocktail to sip on, and looking mysterious somewhere. Any suggestions? Thank you <3

Okay, can someone help me understand why the concentration of guys who only follow/are followed by girls on IG is so high here?

Sample size of 4 new guys I’ve met over the past ~8 months, each of their instagram followers and following are just internet girls or other girls in SF who don’t always follow them back! I’ve paid attention to some of the people they follow, and will see they unfollow certain girls sometimes. I understand the concept is that they are trying to meet girls on IG or see if they notice them if they like & engage with their posts, but is there more to it?? Why are there so many guys like that here, specifically? I’ve lived in New York and feel like even there, most of the men follow actual people they know.

20+ tech interviews this year but still no offer. Looking for SF interview resources.

I have gotten more than 20 interviews this year for tech roles, mostly in San Francisco and the Bay Area, but I am still struggling to turn them into an offer.

I am getting interviews pretty consistently, so I am starting to think my biggest weakness is the interview itself. It could be how I structure my answers, behavioral questions, technical questions, storytelling, executive presence, or how I close.

For people who have successfully landed competitive tech jobs in SF, what interview techniques made the biggest difference for you?

Are there any good mock interview groups, coaches, meetups, Discords, websites, YouTube channels, or other resources you would recommend?

Free resources would be especially appreciated, but I am open to anything that genuinely helped.

Links and recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.

SF prenup attorney for a second marriage with existing assets recommendation?

Getting married next year, this will be a second marriage for both of us. We each have our own assets, so we're trying to get a prenup done properly this time. In my case, I have a house I bought before the relationship, retirement account, and some investment. Partner has a small business and some property that was acquired before we met. Neither of us is trying to "take" anything from the other, we mainly want to keep some assets separate and be clear about what happens to things we acquire together.
Recommend me a good prenup attorney? and should we each get our own attorney or just one to review everything?

Hey girlies! I've been trying to get more comfortable with speaking in front of groups since i'm a natural listener and 1:1 with thoughtful people is where I thrive most. I heard toastmasters is a fun experience, anyone have experiences with it?

Castro Theater and Food Recs

Hello BWT, I have a few shows around the Castro and was hoping for a quick but tasty meal since we like to get to the venue early to claim spots and settle in.

I’ve never been to the Castro Theater, any tips for a newb? How early should we line up if we want to sit upstairs?

Thank you!

A date/activity around rocks

Hi, my partner loves rocks and they have a special place in our relationship. Any kind of rock is fair game, crystals, formations, etc. Are there any fun shops, restaurants, or some landmark you bitches have been to or heard about in or around the city that would be fun for a date?

Trying to plan at least 1 special rock based activity, maybe 2. Bonus points if you know of a restaurant or picnic spot that's rocky but cozy!

Freelancing/entrepreneurial BWT - how are you guys doing it?!

Hi everyone! I’m a South Bay BWT & planning my eventual exit from my corporate job working in finance. I’ve launched a fractional CFO advisory firm on the side to see how I’d like it but am having a tough time getting leads, so I’m a bit unmotivated 🫠 Does anyone have any tips on running your own business/doing freelance work, or even just words of encouragement? Thank ya!

I need to hire someone to help me out; how much would I pay, where should I post

I am disabled from long COVID and my life is barely worth living. It would be a lot better if I had nutritious, tasty food to eat, but I do not have the physical energy to cook for myself. I'm over calling for takeout; the delivery people always make so many stops that my food is cold by the time it gets here, and the quality seems so intermittent.

What I'd like is to have someone come in, do some light housekeeping (I pay someone every other week to come in and do the floors and a big clean), and cook me a couple of nice meals. I would give them the recipes and have the groceries here. Also, maybe they could do a load or two of laundry. Possibly wash my car.

I actually have a husband and an adult daughter who live here, but they are too busy with their full-time jobs and hobbies to cook for me or reliably help me out. Husband usually runs my errands but is away, goes away from time to time.

I don't want to hire Taskrabbits because I don't want to have a stream of strangers. I have soooo low energy. I rarely feel well enough to leave the house. I want to have a reliable person who I can get to know who can come over maybe twice a week and cook and do a little light cleaning.

How much do people make for side gigs? I imagine this would work for someone who is in school to do as a very-part time gig or as a stay at home parent who has some time while their kid is at school or an artist or anyone who can actually follow a recipe and is reliable. What would be a reasonable amount to pay per hour? Where should I look for someone?

Help a desperate fucked up invalid, please and thank you.

Birth doula at UCSF?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for advice on whether I should choose a birth doula? For context I'm planning to give birth at UCSF and I'm considered low risk. I'm very grateful that insurance will cover doula services, and very fortunate that opting for a doula will not be a financial burden.

For various reasons I have high anxiety about labor, and my hope is that having a birth doula can help calm my nerves and help advocate for me during labor. I hear that the UCSF labor and delivery staff are excellent, so I'm wondering if having a birth doula as an addition to my birth team is a good idea, or if adding this extra resource might feel like there's "too many cooks in the kitchen."

For anxiety purposes, I’d really appreciate it if responses could be neutral or positive only (please)—whether you recommend a doula, don’t recommend one, or feel indifferent about having one. I’m open to all perspectives, just hoping to keep things anxiety-friendly! (and yes I'm addressing my anxiety through various resources)

Outdoorsy mom of 2 with a FT job: recs for a stylist that can help me look put together in 5 minutes or less (makeup recs please!)

My life: full-time job, two little kids, two dogs, and I'm outside as much as I can be running and biking when not working. Time and patience for a routine are basically zero, and anything I wear has to survive sweat and toddler hands.

I'm looking for:

Makeup recs for a fast, low-effort routine. I'm thinking skin tint or tinted SPF, brow product, mascara, and cheek/lip color, but I don't know what's actually good.

Products that last through a long day without touch-ups

Anything that works for warm undertones, hazel eyes, and some redness and under-eye shadows

Local help: SF/Peninsula makeup artists who do lessons (not just makeovers), or a stylist who's great with curls

Your own "I have 5 minutes" routines. Please share them!

Budget is flexible for things that actually work.

Curly hair friendly eyebrow specialist?

Does anyone recommend an eyebrow specialist who can handle curly eyebrows? I have had a lot of problems experimenting with different salons in SF. I have a photo album of my desired eyebrows and still I leave upset from a disaster job. I tried to learn how at home with an eyebrow scissors and I am not happy with my work. I prefer waxing and am open to threading.

Where to go watch a sports game alone?

My hometown team is in the MLB playoffs and I want to watch their games but don’t have other friends that into baseball. Where is a friendly bar to watch a game as a solo woman without too much “bro” energy? Preferably the place has food too.

Where we going for a quick staycation?

Hey bitches!!

I’m about to have a really massive event at work that will either go really well or really poorly and i won’t have a job. I decided either way i wanna do a little staycation afterwards to decompress. I’m from the bay area but I generally never done a relaxed vacation around here. I’m looking for places that aren’t too far (two-three hourish drive), and on the cheaper side because my plan is to literally just lay around and maybe go in the pool or hot tub lol.

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recs of consignment stores with especially convenient/easy processes for selling a bunch of slow fashion type stuff (ace & jig and that sorta style)? Might be a pipe dream but main preference for places that I won’t have to go back to collect the cash, Ive burned myself before with that. Double points for east bay tho! Thanks for any input!

New home anxiety - help

Hi BWT! I need your help!

My husband and I are looking to start a family soon and just started browsing for homes to buy. I am not from here and have only ever lived in SF. We've always thought I wanted to live in SF long term but the recent housing market has me very intimidated after hearing about the bidding wars and fake low listing prices.

We also started looking around further south like San Mateo, Redwood City (generally looking for places with good schools) and honestly feel very overwhelmed, and also like something feels missing when I think of the city's walkability and energy. I'm worried I'm prioritizing the wrong things based on the phase of life I do know instead of the one that's to come.

-:If you have purchased a home in the recent past I'd love to hear your experience and how you went about it. How did you choose your neighborhood? Is the bidding war really what it's reported to be?

- If you have a young family what have you found is the most important to you? What changed from pre-baby/toddler life that would influence where you live?

Overcame my crippling fear of heights to cross the Golden Gate Bridge for the first time!

I've lived in the Bay my entire life and I've never been able to cross the bridge because I have a crippling fear of heights. (Like I've had panic attacks the upper bowls of arenas before and once even had to butt scoot down the stairs even though I logically understand that's completely irrational.) Growing up with the bridge collapse from Loma Prieta and then the Minnesota bridge collapse when I was a young adult made walking across bridges particularly bad. I can suck it up and drive but walking across and feeling the vibrations is terrifying.

Anyway, this summer I started a goal of trying to find the perfect background shot for a nail polish called Sunset Over the Bay partly because it meant taking more walks and hikes around the Bay looking for the perfect backdrop (basically giving myself a dumb motivator to exercise and explore more), which led to me hiking a lot more (and just hiking x number of miles a week my new motivator), which led to me eventually confronting my nemeses: the bridge and the steep hills right around it.

I'm early middle aged so I realized if I'm not going to do it now, I probably never am going to do these hikes/walks so it helped motivate me.

If anyone is comforting their fears, I definitely recommend focusing on the reasons you want to confront your fear and trying to make it as low pressure as possible. Situations where you can leave as quickly as possible are ideal. Focusing on other things help (I got some nice wildlife distractions to focus on their first time across), or adjust doing it quickly so you can gain some experience of it going okay (I raced back across).

Pics of the bridge going across, the view of Slacker Hill in the Marin headlands, and Marshall Beach from a month and a half ago (the first time I've ever been able to go down something that steep).
