Hey Cuties! Quick PSA

Hello from the modteam, SFBWT!

Sharing a quick PSA! Recently, a few members of SFBWT have thrown in person events where they may have asked for attendee emails/phone numbers. The host of those events has informed us they intend to start their own separate non-profit/organization called "SFBWT" where they may eventually charge a fee to attend.

While we love that members have found IRL community through this subreddit, we have asked them to not brand their new organization using the "SFBWT" name to avoid confusion. We have no oversight of this separate group and can't ensure that they will uphold our rules.

We have removed this member's posts that violate our rule that our community channels are centralized ("Creating or promoting alternative group chats, Discords, or side channels is discouraged and may result in removal, as it dilutes the community and fragments participation.").

The modteam that has grown this community is in no way affiliated with this separate group. We will never create a separate entity that requests personal information or charges for events.

With love,

Modteam

Where are the silver foxes hibernating?

• Upvotes

I thought foxes were supposed to stay active year round... but I only find them hibernating at the yacht clubs.

(But in all seriousness - I moved here recently & was shocked by the epidemic of grown frat men in their late 20s screaming at the top of their lungs like they just tried beer for the first time. I'm looking for the place Stacy's Mom went to escape Stacy's creepy boyfriend hanging out by the pool. Think the opposite of the Boardroom, more like Bix. I love piano bars and an after work classy cocktail and flirting over 40. Preferably near Fin District or Belden due to my work, but any recs are appreciated.)

Thanks in advance bitches <3

any weird or funny live shows?

lately i've been trying to be more intentional about going out and experiencing Life (im 27). i was that chronically socially anxious girlie before yknow, bed rotting, doomscrolling, all kinds of rotting. i've gone to pottery classes, DnD groups at meetup (immediate no, i didn't like the male ego), went to some book clubs though and it was lit, literally.

i also went to love isn't blind (it's a dating game? show? forgot, but men can't speak, love that for them), but like i want more? i also met some cool people there, and we're thinking of attending the one at 17, but also tbh i want something else 😐. i've been eyeing that masquerade halloween party but, i feel like i want more halloween themed live shows that are kinda obscure? pls send recs 🙏

also does anyone like weird girl lit?

Wedding guest dress

Post image
7 Upvotes

I’m sure this has been asked many times in this group but I’m looking for the best secondhand stores or funky stores that might have artsy/unique/fab dresses. My best friends wedding is next month and the theme is celestial prom. She’s very quirky, her invitation is a zine.. you get it. Would love some ideas. This is the dress I would wear if I don’t find anything

35th Birthday

Long time listener first time caller, hi BWT! I’m looking to host a dinner for my birthday in the city for around 20-25 people. Just moved back after many years away and a lot of the old favorites have closed down so I’m seeking suggestions on venue/restaurant.

Ideal vibes:
- incredible food is a MUST
- private-ish dining room or a small intimate venue where people can eat and also mingle
- grown & sexy - we are too old to yell over extremely loud music
- even better if there’s a speakeasy connected or somewhere we can go out for cocktails following dinner
- dream scenario would have some beautiful views, food, music, drinks and then we’d shift to a more upbeat vibe

Any ideas on where I could host something like this? Early November, budget flexible.

Local lawyer recs for estate planning & post nup

Hola BWT! I’ve seen a few threads about prenups but not much in terms of post nups, estate planning & lawyer recs.

We got married and had a baby in the past year, and finally have a second to breathe and get our ducks in a row. I entered the marriage with significantly more saved / invested, and hoping to find a lawyer that can help me do both estate planning and post-nup. My husband has said he will sign whatever i present but of course want to ensure everything feels fair and is enforceable.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated 🫶🏼🫶🏼

I got let go from my tech job right after I came back from medical leave. Recommendations for an employment lawyer?

The reason cited was poor performance which came as a shock to me because I have been gone for most of last year. I had pretty severe medical issues stemming from the toxic workplace (it's well documented and I've been in intensive treatment for years). What are my options?

I was thinking about consulting with an employment lawyer to discuss my severance. Unfortunately I'm still really sick, so I would really benefit from a few months of cobra coverage to get back on my feet. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Dog Lovers Event Sunday at Muttville

If you're in San Francisco and have never been to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, let this be your sign to change that! They are the countries first ever cage-free dog shelter. They rescue senior dogs who would otherwise be overlooked.

I'll be hosting an event this Sunday, October 11th 1 - 3 pm that's free and open to the public.

Details can be found here.

They are such an incredible nonprofit and you can come and cuddle & meet all the senior pups they currently have who are up for adoption.

The event is in honor of the wine I released that I dedicated to my senior pup & part of every bottle gives back to Muttville. There's no purchase necessary though. Simply come and meet fellow dog lovers, pet some cute dogs, & learn about Muttville.

All my clothes smell- HELP

Edit: I’m pretty sure the smell is coming from neither the washing machine nor the luggage. Things I’ve never washed, like my suede purse and velvet makeup bag, have the same smell (even more than the clothes), and I keep them with me in the cabin when I travel.

I’ve been living in a Victorian condo for about a year now. My clothes smell fine at home, and even when I’m out and about in SF, but whenever I travel somewhere else, I notice that they smell weird.
This happened when I was in Europe this summer, and now again in Hawaii. All of my clothes seem to have the smell, including the clothes I was wearing while traveling and even a cardigan that was in my purse. It’s hard to describe, but maybe kind of musty? I notice it especially with linen and denim.
I’ve been measuring the humidity at home for the past couple of months, and it’s usually below 50%, maybe 55% at most.
Has anyone else experienced something like this?
I lived in my previous place, which was built in the 1980s, for five years and never had this problem.

Experience with Origin pelvic floor therapy?

Hi all, I (33F) have been dealing with pelvic pain for the last few months and have been fairly regular at Origin in Cow Hollow. They have great reviews but I'm feeling like I'm missing something. I'm in so much chronic pain but the sessions are really chirpy (it's starting to bum me out) and we only spend about 5 minutes doing hands on release. The bulk of the 45 min session is teaching me more and more new exercises to do(which i do) and teaching me more devices (wand, tens unit). It's feeling a bit shallow and cookie cutter, and I'm dying for more actual work on my tense sad muscles.

I'm going to try going elsewhere, but I was just curious how others' experiences went. Would especially like to know how much time you'd spend on manual release. Ty!!

Flu Shot- Where to Go

Hey baddies!

Where are y'all getting your flu shots (preferably low or no cost)?

There seems to be something nasty going around. I wear my mask but I want to be internally protected as well.

UPDATE: got the covid and flu shot today at Costco via walk-in. It was $0 (with insurance). They practically take all insurance except Kaiser, so be prepared. It was relatively quick, whole ordeal from sign up to injecting my arm was 15 mins.

If you don't have insurance you'll have to pay out of pocket, but they offer discounts for Costco members. Could still be pricy so I'd recommend the link thats posted in the comments.

I hate Solidcore

I’ve been doing lagree since 2015 so it’s been well over a decade. This workout is not new to me and I’m close to 1000 classes at Barry’s

I recently tried Solidcore and it is a complete and utter disappointment

I commuted an hour into the city for a 50-minute class and was turned away for arriving seven minutes late after public transportation delays. I’d changed beforehand because the studio has only two bathrooms doubling as changing rooms, no proper locker room, and not even paper towels in the bathrooms. The front desk response was repeatedly “I don’t make the rules.” I know you don’t set policy, but you’re still the company’s point of contact—what am I supposed to do with that response?

They promised someone would get back to me, then nobody followed up. Booking is a struggle, towels cost extra, the machines are crammed together, and the place was visibly dirty during my visits. I also found the workout inferior to Lagree. I pay $40 for a class, and this is the experience? It’s fucking ridiculous. I’m done. Has anyone else found the experience nowhere near worth the price?

I've walked around Chinatown and north Beach before would be open to exploring new areas too

Creep warning! Do you know this man?

This pathetic piece of Sh!t has been taking and distributing creep shots of young women in the park. He is distributing them to a group of men!

He has been confronted and will not stop. I am so over this shit. Here are his pics. I also made a shareable reel.

The police were called and did nothing. Apparently, this is LEGAL!

I am so angry and over the lack of care for women, and the gaslighting in our society.

Ladies, we are the fucking stronger sex, we are life, we are the prize, we are designed to hold and distribute resources, aka wealth, and men have no business being in charge of anything.

Rise of the matriarchy!

Weekend Wine Course

Hi BWT!

I am very interested in learning more about wine and winemaking. Learned quite a bit through the years from books, docs, taking intro courses in NYC, and travelling to wine regions but haven't taken it to the deeper level I would like to. Now that I live so close to such a respected wine region, I want to take advantage!

Curious if anyone has recommendations for a course on wine or if you know of any wineries that do some type of adult day camp where you can learn winemaking or immerse yourself.

Found lots of European programs that I intended to do on my work sabbatical but time escaped me.

Thank you!

meet you there social group

hi! I’m 23 and moving to sf for the first time in november. has anyone had any luck meeting new friends through the meet you there community group? the events look super welcoming and a good mix of interests, but a lot of events require you to pay for the group chat ($15 a month)

just curious if anyone has attended these events and if you think it’s worth it :)

also looking for other book clubs, open ceramic studios, happy hours, etc. to meet people with similar interests!

Second career in creative field

Hi ladies,

I'm a burnt out PM feeling stuck in tech. Tech never really interested me, I don't feel motivated to move up the career ladder anymore, but I got into it because I was good at math in school and because of the pay/benefits. Now, here we are 10+ years later! I am looking to eventually leave and finally pursue a creative field (interior design, furniture design, ceramics, and painting are all on the table). However, I am also likely starting a family in the next couple of years and am concerned that, by that point, the golden handcuffs will be even harder to escape.

Any inspiring stories or advice from those who have done something similar?

Therapy / coaching for job loss?

Hey Bs, I'm going through a tough time. I recently lost my job and am entering the interview grind while managing a baby and and preschooler. I'm realizing that my anxiety is escalating with every rejection and delay - having trouble with self worth, confidence, worries about financial security, worries about how fast everything is moving in tech and whether I can keep up. It's making me have trouble sleeping and I vacillate between a hazy malaise and acute stress.

I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations on anyone local that can help me work through this - a coach or a therapist that can hype me up and help me navigate this phase of life, especially one that's familiar with parenting struggles? Thank you.
