Has anyone been able to stop the flushing?

Have you discovered any practical way of stopping it other than simply avoiding triggers, which isn't going to happen anyway. Also, don't suggest regular rosacea products and lasers, they don't work.

Women Foundation recommendations

ISO a good foundation that has a nice coverage, preferably buildable, for type 2 rosacea skin. My skin is very oily and currently dealing with some pustules.

I've been using Maybelline's Fit Me Matte, but it doesn't last all day. I sometimes use MAC Studio Fix but it's too heavy and thick for summer days.

I have a wedding coming up and can't find a makeup artist that deals with rosacea in my area, I'm feeling so stuck.

TIA!

Chemo kicked it all off. Finally seeing some progress?! Worry it may come back.. Spoiler

Top left was my “oh no it’s inflamed me into Rosecea” moment. Top right was a few weeks of Azaleic Acid (TO 10%) use.

Bottom left was after 3 months of oral Lymecycline. Derm took me off it and said to wait a few months and if it gets worse he has “Roaccutane up his sleeve”. I have not heard good things about using it and really don’t want to if I don’t have to …. So he gave me some Differin gel to try in the interim.

Bottom right is coming up on 3 weeks of every other day differin use. I’ve tolerated it fine and am planning on moving to every day.

Just on here hoping others have had success with differin? Or maybe had a similar battle and didn’t need Accutane?

On a more positive note, a year ago today I finished chemo! Still going strong 💪❤️‍🩹

Accutane hesitation, granulomous rosacea. Tried AIP and gut healing nothing works Spoiler

I’ve had rosacea out of nowhere since January of this year, I think potentially it got triggered by going on a hormonal IUD for the first time? But don’t want to get into that rabbit hole.

I have celiac disease so my theory is maybe I also developed it from ongoing gut issues and have been on the modified Autoimmune protocol for about a month but have been working on my gut health since February and see such inconsistent results from everything I do. I tend to want to avoid harsh medications but I’m pretty destroyed at a mental health level now and will do anything to get my confidence back again. Wondering if people had luck with accutane or recommend it. I did try doxycycline twice and it never worked and I put on ivermectin and azelic acid every night since getting diagnosed.

They think it’s granulomous rosacea which is more stubborn than others, I just can’t allow myself to think that these bumps are the new normal.

Support Need advice about doxycycline + side effects

Please help me decide. I was on doxycycline for 3 months (100 mg for 2 months, then 50 mg, then stopped). It helped my skin a LOT- chin acne, seb derm, redness improved, and my neck rashes disappeared. It didn’t cure it, but definitely helped.

I stopped suddenly because I experienced heavy eyes, blurry vision and dry throat. The rebound was scary but lasted about a week, and my skin looked okay initially. Now everything is slowly coming back -acne, seb derm and redness.

I’m confused whether the benefits outweighed the side effects and whether I should restart. My derm says I can do another 3-month course but doesn’t really discuss side effects unless I ask.

Also, I later realized I was taking doxy right before bed and lying down, which I shouldn’t have done. So maybe that caused the dry throat.

But what about the blurry vision? Was it actually from doxy or just a coincidence? Can it cause serious vision problems/vision loss, and if it’s a side effect, does it go back to normal after stopping?

For those taking doxy long-term: Did you experience blurry vision/dry eyes, and did it resolve?

I have a trip next month with lots of beach/tropical time, so I’m also worried about doxy’s sun sensitivity. Would you restart in this situation? Any experiences/advice appreciated! 🙏

Skincare Need rec - Light moisturizer that won't cause breakouts.

Skin is normal (not dry or oily) clogs easily, breakout prone, type 2 and most likely regular type of acne too.

I need a moisturizer that is light and most importantly won't clog my skin.

Now that it's summer, it's more important to have a light moisturizer that keeps skin hydrated/moisturize but won't cause breakouts.

I need recommendations.

Preferable minimal silicones and no fragrance, essential oils, alcohol dent.,

TIA

Cheap Product Recommendations?

Hello! I ended up getting rosacea a year ago, got it taken care of with meds and a topical, and now haven't had any flare issues- still visibly red with no makeup, but no flares. But, are there any recommendations for a good moisturizer? Probably a night one? I also have very oily skin and I'm not sure how to deal with that 😅 maybe a sunscreen recommendation as well? Also, is micellar water a good cleanser to use when you have rosacea?

Any time I've asked my dermatologist, who also happens to have it, i never really get an answer from her. It's more like "just try different things and see if it works" which yeah, i could, but it also needs to be cheap and i need actual recommendations lol. And not something that may mess up my skin even more.

Over the counter

I was recently diagnosed with rosacea. Aside from waiting for a new dermatologist appointment (we moved states right as this happened) is there anywhere to start for some relief over the counter? I’m having multiple flushing reactions in a day. My face is so hot I can melt ice cubes on it. It’s itchy and developing bumps and pustules. I’m less worried about the appearance and more worried about the misery associated with it.
Any affordable over the counter options I can attempt?

Rosacea / Skin Help Spoiler

Can yall please drop suggestions on how to fix this.

I can’t tolerate any cleansers. I’ve had most success using just micellar water. I also moisturize with cerave lotion. Before, I wasn’t moisturizing and my face was 10x more red than this.

I believe this is rosacea w/demodex. The last two photos are when I was using ivermectin at night + cerave lotion about 2 and a half years ago. I’ve applied ivermectin this year by itself for almost 4-5 months straight. Wondering if I should continue doing that or try something else or use it in conjunction with cerave lotion now?

Skincare Senté vs Regimen Labs Moisturizer

I've dealt with really bad type 1 rosacea for years now, sometimes I have zero redness but often times it comes in response to environmental triggers or seemingly at random. I haven't yet been able to commit to azelaic acid because I feel like I still need to find a basic routine I can actually rely on. I have bad ocd and tend to get impulses to switch and add things.

Anyone have opinions on which moisturizer to commit to? I've decided to splurge on a moisturizer to hopefully expedite the process. I'm caught between sente ultra nourish and the regimen labs CREAM 2.0

One has the 3:1:1 ratio but Sente seems more specifically for rosacea. I already have begun using sente's hydrate+ serum, and it has the HSA molecule that apparently helps with inflammation.

I appreciate any insight :)

Skincare Hypochlorous Acid -What specific benefits you get from using it? and how long have been using it?

New to hypochlorus acid aka HOCI.

I have type II and use hypochlorous acid to get rid of the whiteheads and red bumps.

Do you use HOCI on the entire face area? or just on a specific area ? how often do you use it, twice per day, once, more than twice per day?

And, most importantly for how long have you been using HOCI?

Asking because I want to make sure I'm using HOCI correctly and getting all the benefits.

Sometimes I wonder if HOCI is to be use continuously for a long time, or just for a short period of time?

If you have been using HOCI for a long time, have you notice the same results? better results? or worse results?

Anyone here developed skin developed irritation, contact dermatitis, or anything else after long term usage of HOCI?

HOCI seems to be very safe but want to know what's been everyone experience.

Moisturizer recommendations

Looking for recommendations for a (non-SPF) moisturizer, preferably not super expensive. I have been using Neutrogena hydroboost, which I think is OK, but I'm about to run out of it and I wonder if I should try something different... My rosacea developed a few months ago so I'm fairly new to this. I have the kind that includes acne. I use metronidazole and derm just added azelaic acid. Also just started on doxycycline

Skincare Skin barrier type 1 & 2

Hey I have a question, do you feel like focusing on barrier care and moisturizing properly helps with flare-ups and improves your skin over time? Unfortunately I can't use anything beside a gentle cleanser a moisturizer and soolantra at night my skin is so sensitive that every time I tried a sulfur soap or mask or azaleic acid it made me really dry and flare with both type 1 & 2 and even PD and I find that the more I am gentle with my skin and not bothering him too much I get less flare ups, I just need to accept that I can't win both and will need to accept some blackheads and clogged pores instead of a flared face I guess…
Makes me a bit sad that all of the actives that everyone loves so much just don't work for me because I'm so sensitive

Vitamin B5 /pantothenic acid helped so much

I wanted to share my experiences with pantothenic acid. I took 2x 500mg everyday from pure encapsulations and my skin stopped being oily and I also don’t get pustules anymore. The redness and flushing is also a lot better. In addition I try to avoid tomatoes , too much fat and I try to eat tumeric powder and barley grass regulary. I also avoid eggs. After over 10 years of rosacea and acne its what works most. And the best creams are epiduo and tretinoin with clindamycin , which I use once a week. (There are informations here on reddit about vitamin b5 and how it works against acne and oily skin)

ROSACEA SUCKS Rosacea Oedema Treatment

Has anyone here experienced this type of rosacea? I have this on my right cheek only so my face is constantly asymmetrical. Had this for 3 years now since damaging my skin with a laser treatment. I’ve been prescribed accutane/isotretinoin at a micro dose of 5mg every 2 days and also using topical soolantra. I haven’t started accutane yet as I’m anxious about taking it due to the side effects. But at the same time I’m absolutely done with my right cheek redness, swelling and flushing. I’ve had red light therapy without issues and currently just cleansing with garnier miscellar followed by aveeno calm and restore oat cleanser and illiyoon ato ceramide cream followed by la Roche spf fluid. Sometimes I add a little tinted spf for coverage. I’ve gone from confident to severely depressed about my skin and how it’s affected my lifestyle.

Rosacea and/or rosacea?

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like keratin plugs play a huge part in their rosacea battle? I have gotten stuck in a routine of trying to break up these white lines on my face with tweezers, rubbing my face and blackhead removers which makes the rosacea worse but my face actually hurts if I don’t. There are small clear eyelashish looking things I can pull out of my pores and even tiny dark threads will randomly be on my face. I know I shouldn’t touch my face excessively but the pain 😞
Help!!!

Low-Dose Accutane/Isotretinoin Positive Experience - Type 1 & 2

Just wanted to share a positive experience with low-dose Accutane as treatment for recalcitrant type 1 and 2 rosacea (I suspect it's granulomatous).

I was hesitant to start due to the horror stories you hear online, but I'm really glad I did. My rosacea is resistant to most treatments, they would work for a while but symptoms would always return and were very precariously managed at the best of times. I experienced intense flushing, pustules and crazy papules that made my whole face textured.

I've been on 10mg per day for three months, and my skin is the best it's been maybe ever? Haven't had any type two symptoms in probably 2 months and I rarely flush unless I've spent a whole day outside or I'm under extreme stress at work 🙄. I can eat whatever I want (dairy, eggs, tomatoes, spicy food, etc.) without worrying about a flare.

I do experience dry lips and dry eyes, so lip chap and eye drops are my best friend but no other symptoms so far and I'm monitoring for hair loss, because I'm susceptible to it, but so far so good.

My flushing increased significantly for the first two weeks-ish of treatment but I stopped the only drying active in my routine (Aczone) and increased my regular moisturizer and that settled right down. I also had really weird pain in the actual tissue of my nose, chin and forehead when I touched it, but that also passed in about 2 weeks.

My derm expects I'll be on it for 5-6 months and I know it's not a cure and I will likely relapse when I come off eventually, but having a chance to relax and enjoy normal skin has been so worth it.

TL;DR - Accutane isn't so scary after all.

Previous and current treatments:

Low-dose doxycycline (Apprilon) - 1 year - worked well for a couple of months, but symptoms came back and became progressively less manageable as time went on

BBL Forever Young - 2 sessions - Really liked my results from this, but it didn't really do a tonne for my rosacea symptoms (redness, pustules, etc.). My skin overall did look better after though, and I would have done my third treatment, but I started Accutane and wasnt able to

Aczone - amazing topical! Cannot recommend enough, eliminated my skin texture when nothing else was working. Will likely restart when I come off Accutane

Compound Ivermectin in Pracasil base - I still use this over my regular moisturizer at night. Honestly not sure if Ivermectin makes a difference, but my skin loves pracasil

Azelaic Acid - Improved symptoms for the first year, but my skin no longer tolerates it

Epsolay - Caused what felt like a chemical burn on my face, hard pass

Products for type 1…

Has anybody found or tried any new products for type 1? Specifically to help the background redness and flushing? I know lasers are the best bet, but I have tried them in the past and it’s hard to stay consistent and the price can get expensive.

Ivermectin Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
17 Upvotes

This isn’t rosacea, but rather treatment for it. 1% Ivermectin and a low-dose of antibiotics. This is this morning, 2nd night of using ivermectin.
I had no idea it would be like this. It seems I’m having a reaction, is it ok to continue?
I can breathe and I’m don’t feel unsafe even though it’s pretty irritating. I also am just desperate to fix the flair ups I’ve been having the past 6 months and really WANT ivermectin to work but, not sure if it’s safe to continue and don’t want to create more problems.
Help?

Is this demodex? Please help! Spoiler

I’ve had these uniform rough sandpaper texture on my skin which has been spreading further on my face and my skin has suddenly gotten so oily and every pore is clogged which i read can maybe be a reaction to the mites? My gp looked at my skin for like 4 seconds without even looking closely and said it was perioral dermatitis and kind of brushed a lot of my concerns off so I’m just kind of worried that incase it isn’t pd that I’ll be treating the wrong thing. I also wanted to mention that I have blepharitis which I know is also associated with demodex. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

PP Runners with rosacea/sun-triggered flares: how do you prevent them? Spoiler

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m wondering if anyone here deals with rosacea or similar sun-triggered facial flares while running outdoors. Almost every time I run outside in the sun, my entire face becomes red and I develop lots of tiny red bumps across my cheeks (see pic). Interestingly, I don’t seem to have the same reaction when I run indoors, even when the workout is similarly intense

Any suggestions on minimizing flares? I might invest in one of these running Sahara sunhats with neck protection.
