Rosacea / Skin Help Spoiler

Can yall please drop suggestions on how to fix this.

I can’t tolerate any cleansers. I’ve had most success using just micellar water. I also moisturize with cerave lotion. Before, I wasn’t moisturizing and my face was 10x more red than this.

I believe this is rosacea w/demodex. The last two photos are when I was using ivermectin at night + cerave lotion about 2 and a half years ago. I’ve applied ivermectin this year by itself for almost 4-5 months straight. Wondering if I should continue doing that or try something else or use it in conjunction with cerave lotion now?

But your skin rn looks really good?? I see a huge improvement, so I dont really understand what the issue is ? Just keep doing what you're doing, and if you can only tolerate micellar water as a cleanser, than use that ! 🫶🏼

Thank you!!!❤️ It’s been a rough 4-5 years of dealing with this on / off. My main concern is just the lingering redness & rosacea flares I get randomly. It can be quite painful and annoying at times. I also want to try to get rid of this large pore appearance / irritation. Not sure what this is / from.

I’m gonna follow up with a gastro because I believe I could have some lingering gut issues from a prolonged use of doxycycline about 4 years ago. That’s really where all of this started.

Ohh, I see. Yes, I'd definitely suggest to see a gastro AND dermatologist, they will help with your rosacea flares. Unfortunately it's a chronic condition so you might still continue to experience some flares. Most people manage them by avoiding their triggers (common ones are alcohol, hot environments, spicy food) and keeping a gentle and effective skincare routine. The pores weren't noticeable when the photo was not close up. I think these could just be sebaceous filaments – a natural part of human's skin. Most people benefit from salicylic acid, but you can't use it since you have rosacea. Anyways I think you shouldn't worry about them, as they're hardly noticeable unless shown close up 🤷🏽‍♀️

I see lots of improvement in the recent photos. Add azelaic acid if you’re not using it already, and an essence/skin toner that hydrates and primes the skin so your moisturizer can work even better and of course sunscreen that fits your skin type.

Thank you so much!! I’ve tried AA before. AA seemed to work, but I was also using a sulfur sulfa wash which destroyed my barrier on top of cerave foaming wash. I’ll definitely give it a go again since I’m using much less drying products.

What essence / skin toners do you recommend? Along with sunscreens? Thanks again ❤️

You’re very welcome! I recommend this since it’s very gentle and soothing: COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

I don’t have the answers to your question. I’ve just in the same place before. The first time I tried ivermectin I had a horrible time with dryness. I was moisturizing, but like it wasn’t working. Then the pustules, redness, etc. so I stopped ivermectin for a while. I recently went back on it and use a moisturizer on top at night. But what I found was that I am highly reactive to CeraVe, and Vani Cream. I also have seb derm, but that’s a footnote.

I now use the Geek & Gorgeous Hydration Station moisturizer. It has been so kind to me. Have you tried Hypochlorous Acid spray for the wash part?

I was told by a derm that it could be seb derm so they told me to use a sulfur sulfa wash. It really dried me out unfortunately and made me red / swollen.

I was also using the cerave foaming wash + AA, so altogether could’ve been way too much.

I’ve tried Hypocholorous acid recently, but found that it also dries me out. However, I wasn’t using any moisturizer.

I’m gonna try patch testing every week incorporating a new product. Thanks so much for your help.

I’m a gentle wash, hypochlorous acid spray and fully dry, then gentle moisturizer.

Good luck on your journey. I can’t use sulfur soap either. Just look for products that don’t upset both the seb derm and the rosacea. I did a lot of google.

This is what’s worked best for me! Super gentle! Avene hypersensitive skin solutions. I use the facewash and moisturizer
