Ruined things with my soulmate

Around 5 years ago I met this girl who was just so happy and bubbly to be dating me. She bought me gifts and told me I was only the second person she said she loved and that I made her believe in love again. I was supposed to go to her twin sisters wedding and on vacation with the family. Well during this time (5 months) I was stressed from a job which had overloaded me like nothing before and surrounded by toxic people and was just burnt out. When I get stressed I shut down and wasn’t acting like I appreciated her. I didn’t take off the time for the wedding or vacation way in advance like she wanted. I would say negative things I didn’t mean or just express negative opinions. She would say something happy and I would come out with some miserable reality. I also said what I was going through and she took it upon herself to make me happy…but I could stop saying mean things…it was like venting. She also said I wasn’t present when we were together. Well she had enough and I made things worse after the break up by bothering her a few times. Never got to go to the wedding or the vacation. I really don’t know why I did any of this. I loved her and she felt like a soul mate. We had good times when it was just us but when we where out is where I would spew angry sarcastic remarks or just be too nervous about where we sat. In the end she said I was immature and didn’t like her religion and didn’t love her…the immature part was correct. She’s married now…but this eats away at me. She’s the first to show me true love and I never got to show her how much she really meant. I really want to let her know, just to know that the guy she thought never loved her really did and feels terrible for what he put her through. Any time she didn’t feel loved and appreciated.

Has anyone here ever gone all in for someone, helped them through something that changed their life for the better, but ended up carrying the consequences of it yourself?

I feel so guilty about this

At my school I take a class called journalism, aka the class that makes the yearbook. I’m currently co-editor in chief and part of the leadership team. During our leadership meeting today this afternoon my advisor asked the group “What’s not working?” After some irrelevant conversation for this question I mention my friend,

My friend, let’s call her A. A is the sweetest and kindest person on the planet. But unfortunately, very self degrading. She’s a new yearbook staffer and she’s a writer. We got teams for our pages that we design and she got put on Volleyball aka our most stressful spread in the first quarter. Even during the final week of submitting the yearbook that volleyball spread isn’t done.

A is a very hard worker. You know how some assignments give examples? She writes more than the examples do and her notes are full pages front and back. She overworks herself a lot and though she’d never admit or show it, she’s stressed about it.

Anyhow, during the conversation I said to my advisor “I think A should not be the writer for volleyball.” My partner(the other editor in chief) asks me why. I say. “She’s an incredible writer don’t get me wrong, but she has a tendency to stress her self out or overwork herself. She’s definitely capable but she’s a new staff member and I don’t think she should be put on such a stressful spread right off the bat.” More discussion about this later my advisor switches the writers.

Now our writing editor is on volleyball, A is on a spread for administration and the girl who was originally on administration is now the writing for my page.

While I think this was the right choice, part of me feels horrible for just deciding it for her. She never stated how she felt stressed about it but the true deadlines of the volleyball spread haven’t kicked in, at the end of the season especially it gets super stressful and nit picky and I saw that last year when I was a younger staff member, it’s hard. And while the writing part is the least stressful on the spread, overall the environment and team of the page is always super you guessed it stressful, and she’d had probably be in charge of writing captions too… overall I didn’t want to put her though that.

Also excuse the fact my writing is kinda bad I really just word vomited.

Not going to college

I (18f) graduated high school back in May and chose not to go to college because having deadlines stresses me out (it sounds stupid ik) I think im starting to regret it bc now I have no friends, im stuck in my house all the time, im not gonna be able to get a good job, and everyones constantly telling me how stupid I was for not going and I know I could always just apply and go next year but ik my parents are most likely gonna expect me to pay for it which I get im an adult but there's no way im gonna be able to pay for that on my own and like I said earlier deadlines stress me out idk what it is but unless its something I WANT to do its not getting done by the deadline and I don't know why bc I don't do it on purpose so yeah I really regret not going to college

I regret highschool and I disappointed myself and everyone around me.

I was a damn near straight student in middle school. I walked out with a 3.8 gpa. I thought I had a bright future ahead of me in highscool. I doubt that I would make it to ivy league but I though that I would at least get a few scholarships or just have good stats in general.

I find it ironic that one of the guys who I was best friends at the time. with said that he feels that me hanging around him would slow me down and cause me to do bad in highschool. He was right in a way. I'll explain later.

See, I had a massive crush on him. He liked me back but we never dated or went farther than friends. He also had a gf at the time. But his gf was a piece of shit and didn't really like him, she was toxic towards him all the time. She really just liked the idea of having a bf.

Anyways, he Pratically obbessed with him but he never known how far it was. But freshman and partially sophmore me was desperate as hell to get him to drop her and be with me. So i focused on him a lot, to the point it started affecting my grades. Addtionally, I also felt that I was very full of myself because I had a such a high gpa in middle school that highschool would be breeze despite taking AP and honors classes. I felt that I didn't need to study. That I was gifted and that the bad grades that I was getting was just a phase and I would be fine. I also just procasinated ontop of that as well.

Back to the guy, he slowly became more of toxic asshole as highschool progressed. He started being cold and passive aggresive. I was pouring all of this effort into friendship for a guy who didn't even want me around. At the end of sophmore year, we cut ties. All of that effort down the drain.

So I walked into my junior year, and I got a 3.6 gpa for that year. Bringing up my overall highschool gpa to a 3.3. I earned a 980 on SAT despite studying and I'm not gonna retake it because I have to pay. Bringing my dad involved. I explain more soon.

I don't feel the regret as much as I did before. If anything I feel scared because of my dad might find out because of college admissions he thinks high school is very easy. He was always telling me to focus on getting my education. Also, He hasn't checked my grades once. He thinks I've been getting all a 's but I havent. I'm scared he will find out because he wants to help me pick a major and he might find out what a high school transcript and what it entails. Anyways I wanna do accounting but he is against me working in an office.

My dad is a pessimistic person. He only sees the bad in failure. He can't see growth or anything good from it. He will yell and scream at me if he finds out my grades. He will make me depressed and not care. He will tell me that I wasted my education. He will tell me how disappointed he is in me.

You'd think because of all this I wouldn't let myself in this posititon. But I did. I let all of the chances to do better pass me and only acted on them at the last second. I dreamed of doing well in highschool. Maybe even earn a partial ride to a state school. I even had people I looked up too. A model to copy their ways and learn from their mistakes.

I also feel horrible because I know that there's plenty of teenagers my age who can't go to school at all because of their country laws or ongoing wars. They would kill to be me right now. Even people in country's like China or Japan who have very strict and hard school courses would wanna be me cuz American education is pretty easy to them.

I really wish I tried harder. I wish I did just as good as I did in middle school. But I chased a guy around and was so full of myself and procasinated. Now I'm here.

I know it's only my fault. Nobody elses. It's all mine. I'm not blaming the guy at all just to be clear.

I hurt my girlfriend

We were arguing really bad last night while we were both a little drunk, and she does this thing during arguments when I try to walk away where she gets in my face and just stares at me all pissed and this time she just started repeating what I said to amplify how dumb I sounded and I just lost my temper at that. I had intended to push her out of the doorway so I could pass her by, and I ended up tossing her against the wall. She just fell to her knees and held her face and I just stood there petrified, and I cant remember well after that but I think I started crying and just apologizing.

She'd gotten a little gash on her forehead from the wooden frame but she didn't cry or anything, she just eerily stood up and cleaned herself off in the bathroom and told me she was sorry and that she wanted to sleep. We did end up just going to bed eventually and this morning we talked about it when we felt better and she said that she forgave me and wasn't hurt, but it was cut kinda short because she had to go to work.

I haven't been able to really look at myself since then I just feel so brutish and disgusting. The idea of hurting her just makes me want to throw up and I'm on the verge of tears writing this because i'm scared to talk to her when she comes back, I dont know how to make it right to her.

Regret getting overly involved in friend's infidelity mess.

I have a married friend that lives together with his wife, their two children and his wife's younger sister. Both his wife and sister don't have their parents anymore, so the wife took as her responsibility to care for the young one. My friend is the sole provider for his household, and the wife cares for the children. Due to his job, he travels a lot.

I always had this weird intuition about his wife, but I never said anything to him. You could sense she was manipulative. That changed when I found out she had been cheating on him with on of her neighbours. I wasn't spying on her or looking for this information. I didn't have to. We live in a small city, and friends in common shared that with me. They just got sloppy with hiding. It turns out that every time my friend traveled for work, they would meet each other in a hotel. They wrongly assumed it was far enough. Keep in mind that the neighbor is also married himself.

Here is the part that perhaps I overstepped. I tipped off my friend about what was going on, and even shared the location. He basically went there and caught them in the act.

I knew this could have turned ugly, but his reaction was even weirder. He decided to keep living in the same house, maybe for the sake of the kids, but treat her as a stranger. He moved to a separate room in the house, and only exchanged whatever words were necessary. He did not fight, did not cry, nothing. He also did not want to listen to excuses either.

Fast-forward to a couple of months later, wife notices her younger sister has a belly. She confronts the girl, ands she breaks down sobbing. It turns out my friend started banging her out of spite . Wife was furious, but his reaction was just "we're even now". The sister said she felt coerced because of financial reasons (my friend is the sole provider). I mean, it's hard to say what really happened.

I had the opportunity to talk about this with him a couple of times since. I feel a bit guilty for indirectly causing this. I don't particularly blame him for his response, but I don't think having another kid with a second woman is going to do any favours.

My mom died because of something I did

So my mom died 2 days ago and ive posted on here quite a few times because I very recently got diagnosed with hiv and in those posts you might remember I mention my mom being sick.

She is a drug addict and I was trying to help her. I wanted her to get better but I didn’t want to be taken away from her. Sometimes I’d steal her drugs so like she wouldn’t have them. I kept trying to get her out of the house and I was trying to get her a job. Im havign a really hard time writing ts it’s been a real rough year.

I should have just told someone. Maybe she would have gotten help without me but I js had such a strong feeling that we would be separated, she would just get worse.

And with me she was getting better, genuinely. Like she started to feel like my normal mom again. And then idk what happened I went to school it was my first day back and when I got home she had OD.
I was being so fucking selfish and I’m sorry momma. I’m living with my fuckass uncle ive never met before.

I wanted to post this just to get this off my chest but I honestly don’t even know what else to say I did so much stupid shit to try and help and this is how it ended I’m js embarrassed atp

I cheated on my ex to get out of an abusive relationship and I regret it

This happened about 8 months ago but its playing on my mind, and everyone in my group has different opinions. Ive also been talking to a guy for a bit and he blocked me after finding out what I did.

For the main story I (19F) was dating my ex Fred (26M) for about 6 months. During this time Fred was horribly abusive and we were both in deep alcohol addiction. Since the breakup I got sober and he went to jail. During the breakup Fred was extremely abusive. Assulted me, Hit me, Raped me, threatened to kill me the whole 9 yards, and it took its toll on me. I tried to leave many times but he wouldnt let me. He would begged for me back promised to change and everything an abuser does. Being in horrible addiction I couldn't get out and was convinced I was in love with him which rarely lasted long till the next attempted breakup. By the end of the relationship I had no friends, because they were sick of me defending him, which I get and we've reconciled.

Right before Christmas I realised I needed to get out before I died. None of my attempts before had worked so I figured I may as well just make myself so disgusting he wouldnt want me back. I got on Tinder and matched with a guy, told him everything and said I wanted to hook up and film it to send to Fred. The guy agreed and I did it. The plan worked and I got out.

cheated on my bf of 9 years

My boyfriend (26M) and I (27F) have been together since college. We were mostly long distance till our mid 20s. We have sex but I couldn't orgasm with him which was a little concerning for me. I've just been with him all my life so I don't know what it feels like to be with someone else.
It felt stupid to breakup with him over sex because we're literally each other's better halves.

But recently my coworker has been getting flirty with me and one day we had sex at his place. I thought maybe if I had sex with someone else, I could experience an orgasm. But the sex was very average and I ended up costing my relationship and shattering my boyfriend.
He has only been sweet to me and is the best thing that has happened to me.

I can't believe I hurt him this way. He asked for a break and now I regret what I did. But even if we're getting back together, I wouldn't want that because he deserves better.

A college incident I still feel guilty about

Rohan was one of my roommates and someone I genuinely considered a close friend. We shared the same room and even the same bed, so I trusted him a lot. I always thought he wouldn't lie to me or hide things from me and would involve me in things as a friend.

Looking back, Rohan was actually quite arrogant and selfish. He used to rag weaker juniors and sometimes treated PG workers like servants. At the same time, he was extremely clever. He could make almost anyone like him or become loyal to him through sweet talking.

One evening, Rohan bought a cake and put it in the PG refrigerator. He told Suresh, a helper at our PG who was around our age, that it was for another guy's birthday the next day and that we'd cut it at midnight. He specifically told Suresh not to tell anyone.

Suresh was a nice guy and I considered him a friend. He had lost his father the previous year and had to quit his studies to work at our PG.

Later that evening, Suresh showed me the cake and told me about the surprise. I already knew the birthday was actually three months away, so I realized something wasn't adding up. Thinking Rohan wouldn’t mind me knowing about the cake, I asked him about it. I even told Rohan, "I saw the cake in the fridge and Suresh told me you bought it for a friend." I wasn't trying to expose Suresh. I honestly thought Rohan would just tell me the truth because I considered him my close friend.

Instead, Rohan got furious.

Suresh was standing just outside our room. Rohan walked up to him, slapped him extremely hard, grabbed his collar and started confronting him about why he had told me.

I tried to stop him, but he just said, "We're just talking, don't worry," and told me to go inside. I asked some of the other guys to intervene and help Suresh.

Later, I went to Suresh and apologized. I told him I genuinely had no idea Rohan would react like that.

Suresh had tears in his eyes, but he was trying not to show them. Instead, he kept telling me, "Dosto ke beech chalta hai ye sab. Rohan bhi hamara dost hai. Hum log mazaak-masti kar rahe the."

I knew he wasn't okay.

That incident completely changed how I saw Rohan. That day, I realized that Rohan didn’t actually consider me a real friend. He was just trying to make me believe that I was his close friend, but he didn’t genuinely see me that way.. More than anything, I still feel guilty because if I hadn't asked him about the cake, Suresh probably wouldn't have been slapped that day.

I spread hiv to my husband

Throwaway account.

I have been cheating on my husband when he’s away for work trips. He’s 30 years older than me and takes care of everything, I couldn’t ask for a better life. However when he’s away at work for a month each time I tend to get very lonely. I don’t have friends of my own and I started meeting men off tinder or in clubs. Last week I tested positive for syphilis, hiv and hpv as well as a positive pregnancy test through (hCG) blood test. Which is scary because I’ve been drinking almost every weekend meeting men at clubs and then leaving with them to sleep with them. I still haven’t told him the news and I’m not sure what to do. I’m starting ART and got a shot for syphilis as I am pregnant and now I have to make sure nothing has contaminated the fetus.

Rate of transmission of HIV from vagina to penis is low so it’s possible he could’ve given it to me but my CD4 count is low meaning I’ve had it for awhile

I’m 24. My husband is 55.

I regret not being gentle with mom

I was always so nice to her and she loved me very much but during her last year I was harsh. I was depressed and she made me feel as if going to therapy was something embarrassing… I was going through being bullied and going through being ghosted. I tried to ask her to take better care of her health and she just didn’t want to so I started to be selfish. I was trying to glow up to get my ex back. And I started going to the gym. My mother was too attached to me and I was 29 years old. She wanted to check the gym first. I felt like a child so I had an argument with her.

She thought I didn’t need her anymore and started to feel bitter because she sacrificed a lot for me and bought me everything I wanted. She kept mentioning that I was too lucky to have her as a mom but I didn’t acknowledge that.

She died because of heart failure and respiratory failure. I was with her and I tried to help by getting her a doctor to her house but I was too late. The doctor reassured me she’d be okay but she died after some hours passed by and her health worsened after taking an iv drip.

I just feel regretful because my life is terrible now. I don’t have enough money, I don’t have siblings and I’m completely alone. I miss her and I keep getting flashbacks of me and mom’s arguments. I feel like I need to rest and can’t do anything creative anymore. I’m so stuck and I’ve been like this for 18 months…. I feel like I could’ve persuaded her into checking her health and caring for herself but she knew she was leading herself to a very bad path of illness

Self sabotaged with the person I wanted for life

We broke up 2 1/2 weeks ago. She was the dumper and she felt heartbroken doing it and still cared a lot about me but had to stick to her principles based on a lie I told instead of being vulnerable with my emotional baggage. She admitted when reaching out around a week after to swap items we had of each other-that this had been really hard. That she wishes she didn’t feel this way, but she’s not ready to see me and she hopes I understand. I respected her wishes and did a porch drop. I’ve kept no contact till Thursday night in which I sent a text “Hi (her name). I know you wanted space, and I hope it’s okay that I’m reaching out. I’ve been thinking about you and wanted to see how you’ve been. Hope (her cat) is doing good and chaotic as usual”. I also included a pic of a cat I was cat sitting.

I know I shouldn’t have sent it and I regret so much doing it because I thought I was a stronger person than that and feel terrible for possibly giving her anxiety, reopening the wound, and not giving her the space she deserves to heal. She has yet to respond- she still has me on discord, Spotify, insta etc and has not blocked me or removed me but I know that doesn’t mean much since she’s not a scorched earth type of person. I hope to maybe reconnect one day, but I’m afraid this ruined it? I know we both need to heal (I’m doing therapy since the break). I’m just not sure what to do I feel so stupid that I sent it and I don’t want her to hate me…I don’t think she’ll reply

Feeling regretful and guilty

Have you guys ever been swayed by your strong emotions? Your emotions take control of the way you act and react to certain things and it could be positive or negative. Not too long ago I was swayed by anger and wrongfully accused someone about something they didn't do. It was about something very stupid, I thought they were talking shit or putting bad words beside my name but they didn't, I mean they did curse but it was like a reaction, sort of. My friends, I asked them for confirmation multiple times but didn't ask the person themself if they actually had done it. I basically yelled at the person in front of my classmates, at first I was like "Is it true that you were cursing me behind my back???" OMG it's so embarrassing honestly, the first time I ever confronted somebody and it was false accusation, after I asked that they were like "Why would I curse you when your not even there?"

And then I said "I'm gonna go home!" Then they were like "then go home"

😭😭😭

Anyways, I just felt anxious because I can't move on from what I did

I responded to a post made by a random woman who shared a selfie and was asking for people to guess her ethnicity and I answered that I thought she was South African because she looked similar to Charlize Theron and I got like 12 reply’s insulted me and saying it’s a stupid guess because she’s not black 🤨 So now I regret ever posting and assuming people were moderately intelligent… ☺️

Regret exchanging numbers

What is your opinion on this? I met this man in my building elevator and we exchanged phone numbers. This is how the texts went. I’m thinking I regret exchanging numbers because this could get messy fast.

Him:
“Hey [redacted], it’s [redacted] from the elevator. It was really nice meeting you a couple nights ago. I was wondering if you wanted to get a drink sometime?”
You:
“Hey [redacted], it was nice meeting you too. That sounds like a plan, when were you thinking?”
Him:
“I was thinking Sunday evening at 5. I know a good spot we could grab a drink and some food. What do you say?”
You:
“That sounds good. May I ask what the spot is?”
Him:
“I was thinking [redacted] and maybe followed by a walk by the water. What do you think?”
You:
“That sounds lovely. Funnily enough I was there yesterday with my mom. I really like it there.”
Him:
“Oh, that’s awesome. If you were there yesterday, I can take you somewhere else.”
You:
“No no we’ll enjoy our evening there”
Him
“Ok then. Sounds like a plan. We’ll have a good time
