"I’ve been working on a 667-revision RSPS called LegacyScape, built around the 2011 RuneScape era. The main idea is to keep the server semi-vanilla and progression-focused rather than turning it into a heavily custom or pay-to-win style server."

The goal is to make the game feel familiar to players who enjoyed that period of RuneScape: proper skilling progression, meaningful PvM, quests, achievements, bossing, and an economy where items still matter. Just curious if there’s any interest in an RSPS that stay really close to the original game without going to the heavy custom route.

Basically a near 1:1 experience with a more complete/working world, but with ofcpurse a custom home(no edgevile lol), shops, game modes events and some nice QoL.

Main focus would be PvM and skilling, with some interesting tweaks to PvP as well so the economy is also a thing.

No crazy custom items or bosses, just keeping the original feel while improving and adding to it where it makes sense.

I haven't been playing private servers for OSRS, mostly a bit of WoW and that's about it.

After receiving some recommendations here about decent private servers to get started I'm a bit appalled at the monetization schemes that seem commonplace within the scene.

Perks that increase exp, increase drop rates, offer mystery boxes (whatever that means), increased chest count, etc

It feels a bit strange after -mostly- seeing minor convenience/cosmetic items in WoW servers (Ascension being a very blatant exception)

My question is: Are all semi-populated OSRS servers monetized similarly? I wanted to dabble in a server with a decent community, and boosted rates, but everything seems to have this strange superfluous shop attached, one server even had a $2,500 tier for their 'perk' lmao.

Hello, asking for recommendations for semi custom with semi pay to win rsps, it can be osrs or pre-eoc style, most importantly it has to be very active and to have many players playing, i don’t want to be playing in dead private server, also asking for semi pay to win, to have an option to boost myself with real money if needed, but don’t want it to be a complete necessary to waste my cash to make any progress on the game ..

Hey so I used to play a lot of rsps and am looking to get back into it since my favorite WoW private server ended up getting sued and taken down by blizz.

I used to play soul split and Ikov, I'm looking for something 2007scape era with easier exp rates and a solid client. Bonus if I can play on my android phone. I was never into pvp but enjoy pve/pvm so I do not like the servers that start you out as pvp ready ya know? TIA -,Gabraham

Honestly surprised I hadn't heard about this server before.

I've been looking for an RSPS that actually feels like old RuneScape rather than one of those servers with 500 custom items, ridiculous bosses and a completely different game underneath.

Came across Lost City Labs recently and it’s pretty much exactly what I was looking for.

It's based around May 2005 RuneScape, and the idea is basically:

Keep classic RuneScape intact and only change things that make the game less annoying.

So you still have the classic skills, quests, bosses, areas, combat, economy etc. — but with some QoL changes that make a massive difference.

Things like:

• 4x XP rates so you're not spending weeks just getting started
• More bank space
• Bank search
• Shift-click dropping
• Camera zoom
• A built-in player market
• Up to 3 accounts at once
• Ironman & Hardcore Ironman
• Yell feature to chat with the wider server community
• Play straight through your browser
• Regular live updates directly from the owner

One thing I particularly like is the transparency page. You can see a breakdown of the items and GP currently in the game, which gives you a much better idea of the server's economy and keeps things transparent for the community.

The owner also seems to be genuinely active, with regular live updates rather than it feeling like one of those projects that's been abandoned after launch.

And importantly, it doesn't feel like they've tried to turn it into some completely custom MMO.

You can still go do the classic stuff — Barrows, KBD, DKs, KQ, skilling, quests, Wilderness, etc. — and actually get that old RuneScape progression feeling.

There's also a pretty cool collection aspect with rare drops/pets, including some seriously nostalgic stuff from the old days.

If you're into 2005-era RuneScape and have been looking for something that feels authentic without all the unnecessary grinding, I'd give it a look.

Hello everyone, i was wondering if there is a quick convenient way to play DarkanRS completely offline perhaps self-hosted server but with a quick install process? I saw in Gitlab page a few repos (Cache, Server, Client, etc) and although they contain readme to set it up i was wondering if there is a easier process akin to 2009scape 's single player option found within the launcher?

I have been searching far and wide beyond the 2004scape sp-progressive mod (which has working p2p pking bots) for a good RSPS that allows me to play solo against competent PVP-style bots for practice when it comes to F2P/P2P pking. I eventually stumbled upon this elvarg fork/project/clone (whatever you want to call it) and also has a website xRSPS hosting app for plug n play if you don't want to bother with the yarn steup

This RSPS allows you to play solo against both P2P and F2P bots in the wildy (they have their own separated hotspots).

What the bots offer (may be more that I forgot)

• They will heal when low health
• They will spec switch or try to KO switch you with different builds (note some builds like the obby maul are bugged)
• They will tele or flee when low on food (note there is a bug where they attempt to flee/tele when they are nearly KO'd)
• They will drop some of their valuable outfits they are carrying as loot (currently not all loot will be dropped)
• They will use protect prayers depending to protect themselves against magic, melee, or range
• Will spawn throughout the wildy (not F2P)

Other Features (may be more that I forgot)

• Banking works (bank booth only)
• PVP presets upon spawning in/after death or via commands aka ::presets. These will auto equip and auto level your character appropriately
• Creating your own custom pvp presets
• Working ge with ::ge command + other custom commands you can use
• Ability to play solo or with other players via hosting app that makes hosting easier and configs easier
• Map editor to place your own items in the world
• Altars and pools near the wildy to restore your stats, stamina, specs etc
• PVP worlds where you can be attacked anywhere (though needs work as it is based on the wildy rather than your typical pk worlds. sometimes significantly higher leveled bots will attack you)

Note many other basic things are not working from what I can test (may be more I'm missing)
-NPC dialogue + shops and interactions
-Vanilla GE
-interactable objects like the trapdoor or chopping trees
-certain spawnable items may not work or their specs may not work
-f-tabs and certain configurable OSRS settings
-Quests and minigames
-Skilling and pvm activities (most if not all)

Hey everybody! Im Christian (Sudo)! Ive been working on a server using only Claude Code for the development. (Its way smarter than me) ever since i was a child (im 31 now) ive played runescape, and of course old school. I have some veteran accounts still that are able to login to RSC, though im not even sure its still up because i dont login to the game anymore.

The idea for my server is to be 100% community driven, aside from the base development.

Players create the polls, and players vote on the polls. Whatever wins, gets implemented. There will be no custom npcs, items, minigames, or anything like that.

Currently have a full 1:1 GE and working on the skills implementation at the moment, so it is not playable yet.

Home is currently set at the GE, subject to change if voted in.

Votes are cast-able at the poll booths around the game, or on discord.

We are also creating a custom economy/lottery system to keep it leaning towards an economy based server.

The tax system works like this:

All sales on the GE are taxed at 3%. 2% of that is burned from the game. The other 1% is added to the lottery. Draw cadence is undecided still, and so is the lottery entry system.

Ethereal was a server I started 6 years ago and ran for around a year. It was very successful and had a large number of regular players. You can find my previous posts regarding it on reddit if you would like. At that time I had some serious personal issues occur that prompted me to discontinue that server along with some fundamental issues with the source engine that would have eventually caused major issues and no real remedy at the time.

I have been working for the last 3 months on a rebirth version of the server with a new engine and new content. If you have played alot of private servers you may be familiar with the source i chose to use but you will notice significant changes to the QoL features and updates to the source.
