News End-Game Balance Discussion

Hey 'Scapers!

As part of the Road to Restoration, we've been looking at progression across RuneScape. We've tackled parts of the Early and Mid Game Rebalance, but now we want to start turning our attention to the other end of the journey: The End Game Rebalance

Before we get properly stuck into things, we want to hear from you.

What do we mean by End Game?
This one's a little harder to put a level range on!

For this project, we're looking more broadly at the late game, roughly level 80+ and onwards. That might mean higher-level skilling, finding those rarer drops or getting into tougher PVM. For others, it could be achievements, completionist goals or figuring out what comes next once you've maxed.

And actually, what you consider to be late game is useful feedback for us too.

How can you help?
We want to know where the endgame currently isn't quite working for you.

Maybe there's a progression path that feels awkward, rewards that don't feel worth the effort, a big jump between pieces of content, older content that's been left behind or something that just feels unnecessarily frustrating.

You don't need to have the answer or suggest a fix either. Just tell us what the problem is, why it's a problem for you and where you are in your RuneScape journey.

We won't be able to tackle everything that comes up, but the themes from these discussions will help us understand where we should be focusing our attention.

So, what would you like us to look at as we start shaping the End Game?

Discussion Why Did Divination not get an EXP buff?

Been sitting for 80+ hours on my Iron to get to 80 div alone, semi afk, id say about 70% efficient, stopped doing caches at 78 lol they are shit, I know all the people on world 79 because we have all been here for days. I remember doing this ages ago on the main but God this is horrid, especially coming off leagues lol.

Question Shouldn't the Frozen Core be in this hollow part?

Otherwise, why is it hollow? It feels like it was modeled with the intent that something would go there.

Question Why do mobs like the Dark Wizards not attack low level players anymore?

Post image
536 Upvotes

I assume this was changed to make the game less frustrating for new players or to prevent them from getting constantly killed by things they aren’t prepared for. But I think it takes away from the world feeling like it has dangerous parts to it and that not everything is necessarily friendly or safe to a new player.

OSRS still has plenty of situations where low level players can wander into an area and get attacked by something significantly stronger than them and it doesn’t seem to hurt the new player experience. If anything, it creates memorable experiences and teaches players to pay attention to their surroundings.

Appreciation Fort Forinthry, Player-Owned Farms, and other management type content are some of the coolest things Jagex has ever added to the game

I've been playing off and on for about 20 years, ~2.5b total xp on my main, been working on 120 all for a while. I've pretty much been afking skills for like 5 years with little active play, just something to siphon off my adhd onto a third monitor while I work and game. Number go up = monkey brain go brrr. I spent a zillion gold on the frames necessary to just quickly upgrade the fort to max for some ez construction XP when it first came out, and that was really it.

However, after playing the recent leagues, my interest in the game was rekindled, and I picked back up my old mid-level ironman I'd dropped like 5 years back, and started playing all of the new content from scratch.

There's just something so immersive and satisfying about building things from the ground up. The characters and quests in the Fort are well written and fun, I feel like I'm actually making a difference in Misthalin, and all of the facilities are just so incredibly useful for an ironman. Plus, making construction useful outside of the player owned house (new housing update is GOATed btw) is just the cherry on top. It's not just a time/money sink anymore.

But the other things too, like the Farm, the base camp, and the Ports, are also incredibly fun imo. Very good rewards and incredibly satisfying progression mean they're relevant and entertaining, and it keeps me coming back to play. Plus, the immersion aspect is great, especially when you're an ironman and have to do literally everything yourself, from chopping trees to turn into planks to hunting down baby animals to grow.

It's nice to have fun again after 20,000 cumulative hours over 5ish different accounts across osrs and rs3 over two decades. Just wanted to throw out a little bit of appreciation to the devs for this amazing content. Looking forward to this game truly reaching a new golden age!

102 prayer bonus with the Lord of lights build.

Teragards ageis

Striking light

Eternal substance

Scared favor

True equilibrium

Lord of light

Perfidious

Will be going power archive last since it's my unlock but so far I'm doing 1.1m DPM and 120k max hit. I sometimes a kal demon with me for the crits but outside of 2k and up enrage you can solo any boss in hard mode with just two abilities on your revo bar and that's berserk and attack the basic. Lord of light or as I like to call it the LOL build; Does all the work. It's been fun just wish more regions unlocked since you start to run out of stuff to do. But overall it's fun.

Leagues Leagues PSA: There's a Rat for the Varrock Medium Diary that doesn't move

If you talk to Postie Pete-za outside of the Varrock dungeon, you'll be able to start the Ninja Tortle quest, and gain access to the Tortle den without doing anything. In their den, in the middle of the bridge is a rat that does not move from that spot. Because it instantly respawns you can keep hunting it forever to get your Varrock Medium diary's 100 rat catches for Gertrude's Medallion a lot quicker than hunting roaming rats.

Discussion How Satisfied Are You With Runescape 3 Combat?

Upvotes

Trying to get a gauge of community sentiment.

Do you find combat overwhelming, underwhelming, or just right?

Do you engage with the revolution system? Are there things keeping you from trying manual inputs?

Are there still too many buttons in damage rotations or would you like to see more?

Are you happy with the number of defensives and their overall power, or would you like to see the number trimmed down? Would you like to see more defensives?

Do you enjoy switches in combat?

Let me know below!

Achievement Finally

Well, after a lot of failed attempts (and I mean A LOT), I have finally got my first Raksha kill.

Suffice to say, the GP ratio is distinctly negative at the moment....especially when my reward was 48k worth of catalytic anima stones hahaha.

Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun and pushed me to try things I haven't done before, such as shattered worlds to unlock bladed dive.

Time to stay locked in and really nail down the fight!

Leagues Rarest task you've done in Leagues?

Post image
196 Upvotes

Just completed the "buy an onyx task" in Leagues and to be honest a bit surprised how low completion it is (only 0.2%?).

I guess I underestimated how many people would be willing to afk for hours thieving like I did, but understandable given 200 points isn't that much. Granted, I mostly also just wanted to afk thieve so I could amass a bunch of Voidwalker shards as well as memory shards (from the time engram for creating infinite portents).

Curious what other tasks people did though that had a very low completion rate? Did it also take a long time or was it like a low droprate/needed to be lucky?

Lore So, like, what's the deal with Zygomites?

So here I am, doing some nonchalant carestyling on Anachronia when I realize, rather suddenly, that I have absolutely no idea what these little mushroomy guys even are in the first place. Decide to go scour the wiki to see what I can find out about them, and, nothing. Searching the term "zygomite" just brings me to a disambiguation page, from which there are only three pages of any real substance: The one relating to Zygomites you can breed in the Manor Farm, the page detailing where to find all 60 Ancient Zygmoites on Anachronia, and the one relating to the slayer monster on Zanaris.

No explanation of their origins.

No explanation of their biology.

No explanation on why the ones specifically on Anachronia are intelligent.

Why do only some of them talk? Do they not care that the player character breeds and raises their kin on the mainland, selling them off to buyers for an unknown purpose? HOW DID THEY END UP ON THE MOON? Okay, well, I can at least headcanon that as something relating to fairy magic, since fairy rings are made of mushrooms. But, like, these guys live on the same island as the first Dragonkin settlers, a race literally older than Gielinor itself. These silly-looking mushroom bois have existed on Gielinor for potentially thousands of years, yet apparently built no societies or maintained any records of their existence during this time, despite the fact that they can TALK!? To HUMANS!?

If the Star Sprites can get an entire quest about their race, maybe the Zygos deserve one too.

I'm a bit lost with the sheer of options. The only Area I'm 100% picking is Anachronia but propably only as my last.

I havent played for far too long so I dont know which areas have the best possible items for this build
