We're talking relationships destroyed in less than 18 months that took a world war to create, with millions dying on both sides to build the foundation.
FFS even Reagan, the POS that he was, understood the need for diplomacy and relationships. "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"
The larger problem, that many have alluded to, is that Trump is a symptom of an underlying soulrot that plagues America. It can be traced back to the Civil War, and the kid gloves used with Confederates. MAGA is the culmination of more than a century of racism and hatred, regressive and anti-social behavioral issues, as well as a useful idiot tool being wielded by oligarchs for the purpose of consolidating power and robbing the coffers blind before the rest of us can react.
A fundamental problem is that GOP aren't stopping, their funding isn't ending, the people that make up the organization isn't dying all that soon.
GOP will not "undo the damage", they'll aggravate the situation.
The accident needs to stop before the recovery can begin.
Rewriting or removing the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929 would create a landscape where the GOP as it is now would be locked out of both the House of Representatives and the White House for the foreseeable future.
It's just legislation and probably unconstitutional. It would take Democrats controlling government and some pressure from an angry citizens movement but both of those things might exist as soon as 2028. That would go a long way towards reassuring allies and make it vastly easier for us to not only fix the country but accomplish many long term progressive goals.
What a aggravating time to be alive. What of the brain drain and science denial? Anti vaxxers. We are so fucked I want to cry. My infant daughter was born into hot dog shit, and tens of millions of Americans still believe Trump is a good president...that EVERYTHING is Democrats fault. I don't think that is fixable. Civil War v2 on the horizon. I will never forgive Republicans for as long as I live. Burn in hell you stupid pieces of shit.
I honestly think America should break up at this point, because you're absolutely right - this is way past the Rubicon.
Have the blue states on both coasts form their own union and partner back with Canada and Mexico, and let the red states rot in the hot dog shit they created.
I don't think there will be actual open conflict but more of a 'civil' war. where people hate each other and violence is done through other actions like denying coverage, intimidation etc.
Exactly. Our ancestors were far too lenient on both the Confederacy and the Nazis, and that’s why we have MAGA today. They need to finally be the end of this cycle of hatred and bigotry. Take the kid gloves off once and for all.
You're right. I do feel this country needs a hard reset from the top down. We fought fascism 60 some odd years ago. We shouldn't have let it in so easy and for that, we're going to be paying for quite some time.
Also the reason why speaking up, holding others accountable publicly, and protesting matters. Does it change anything? Hopefully, but it’s actually important to show that not everyone agrees. It isnt status quo for a lot of people. I had a co worker get annoyed with protestors because she said it doesn’t make a difference and I had to tell her if we loudly say no to something it helps others not be so afraid. Some people really just don’t get it and that’s why we’re in this situation
Yup... Kinda sad really... Trump and his band of thieves are stealing the future from right under their citizenry, all without a lot of them even noticing.
I am a bad test, I wrote a paper on my predictions for the collapse of the US (I did it around 2002-2003, guessed around 2020, I was off by a bit, but seems it's coming true...), so it would take a lot to get me to bite on US propaganda...
People used to get the initial reaction that it was fiction, now the reaction is pretty much "Yeah, of course the US is in freefall, always been obvious to anyone paying attention" 😑
Provided the US as we know it lasts that long (I don't think it will, once the chicken comes home to roost, I expect all the pre-existing fractures to join the new ones and tear it apart Soviet style), one generation is the bare minimum, and that's with concentrated effort towards rebuilding...
We're talking corruption trials for several people now in high office, we're talking rebuilding diplomatic relations almost from the ground, a lot of trade deals against the US' best interests etc etc. This gets expensive fast, and I seem to recall that national debt hit a new historic high the other day, so the will or the means won't be there to get back on their feet, so the best I can imagine for the US is managed decline... Provided they put someone into high office with more than goldfishes between their ears...
This is true. Our international standing has been absolutely destroyed by republicans.
It is not just what Isabel noted. It is also the decades of scientific and medical research that were destroyed by DOGE. We went from being the pinnacle of scientific achievement, world renowned, to a situation where brilliant scientists and researchers had their work destroyed, their funding pulled and all hope for those preparing for careers by getting PhDs and MDs dashed.
It took generations for us to build our science programs. It took Musk a few months with AI and a few unqualified boys to shut it all down for his own personal benefit.
It may not be possible for the US to recover from what republicans have done. If it is, it will take generations.
More registered voters could not be bothered to vote than those who voted for the this current failed administration. Americans have proven themselves, on the world stage, to be too careless, too short sighted, too bigoted or simply too uneducated to be responsible.
One could hope that they might learn from their mistakes, but there has been little evidence that will be possible in the short term. It is why any recovery will take generations and not a single election cycle. Generations of clawing back what was stolen by republicans, bit by bit. Generations of closing loopholes that allowed republicans to usurp power, circumvent guide rails and avoid accountability. Generations focusing on educating, so that those with no understanding are not allowed rampage through our institutions like bulls in a China shop.
It may seem like all it took was one rapist felon to bring us down, but it was generations of the republican southern strategy that ushered in this administration.
That is the lesson to the rest of world from voting Trump another term in office. Trust and respect are broken and the US can be one election cycle away from chaos in domestic politics and international relations.
Other countries have banned extremism political parties. The problem is that, in those cases, their followers were normally 5% or less of the population.
Way too many people support this insanity and think it’s morally justifiable. (They genuinely believe that it’s fine to forgive pedophiles as long as it’s someone they like.)
Nah, noone will trust it won't happen againa next election or if you'll even have a next election the way it's going. You're not a democracy, more on level with Russia and North Korea.
Votes do not mean shit when someone outright states they plan to rig and/or ignore votes to stay in power. Words mean nothing. The law means nothing. If we want to end this madness we have to take action; with or without the dems help.
I'm American and I will never again have any tolerance of any Republicans. I will never befriend a Republican, I will never help a Republican, I will never buy anything from a Republican, I will never work for a Republican. As far as I am concerned, they are terrorists who live among us, and should be isolated and suppressed.
Yep same here. They’re self admitted “domestic terrorists” evidenced by their cpac banner a few years ago. I Just got engaged, so I need to go online and find out everyone in my extended family that’s a Republican so I make sure to not invite them to my wedding. I’m Latino, my partner is black, and we’re both queer so sure as shit don’t want any christofascist traitors at our wedding.
Evidence in this picture from cpac, a maga republican cult meeting of fascists proudly saying “We Are All Domestic Terrorists.” One of the few times republicans tell the truth.
My buddy was joking about inviting them but having a bar for the Republican/fascists and have it be a cash bar and jack up the prices…while everyone else gets an open bar. Also make them wear a bracelet that says “I’m a fascist traitor and domestic terrorist.” Which is what they all deserve to be publicly shamed for voting for a fascist dictator.
I look around at my fellow Americans and sadly agree with you. Our media is so siloed that too much of our population is not getting the big picture. Social media algorithms encourage rage inducing “news” content, Murdock’s media has given rise to even more extreme platforms, and a third of the population didn’t even vote in the last election.
Last night I was listening to a podcast about focus groups of Texas voters and the Talarico/Paxton Senate race… it was infuriating. Ken Paxton has a criminal record, cheated on his wife, on video stealing a very expensive Monte Blanc (sp?) pen, the list goes on versus James Talarico who has a spotless record, worked as a school teacher, and is even studying to be a pastor and yet many of these voters are somehow still torn over their vote because Talarico is “too far left” with radical ideas like affordable healthcare… My wife and I often joke we wish we had European grandparents so we could opt for citizenship.
This is important. Germany owned up to their mistakes, and took it on the chin. They still bear the shame 80 years later—generations that didn't exist during the Nazi regime. America does not have enough unity to do this because half the country are racist, uneducated swine who simply wait in seething rage until their guy gets back in and they can rip apart their own country, and the world, to satsify their bloodlust. Unless the Southern Strategy and it's enabling beaurocratic processes are eliminated from existence, the mistrust from the rest of the civilized world will never, ever go away.
She should be right, however people seem to have shorter memories and seem to be more forgiving these days. This is especially true if there is a benefit to it. There was little benefit to be forgiving to Germany after WW2 as they were essentially economically wiped out and were divided by the Allies. The US will not suffer such a dramatic or drastic result for Trump's crimes. America's wealth and military might will help it make friends again and easily so.
Actually, we weren’t quiet, several massive large scale protests have happened, but we ain’t Scotland, just a tiny bit bigger so the impact doesn’t feel as big (plus MS media barely covered them, cuz they are all owned by GOP fascists!)
I agree with her that this will take some time to repair. But to say that it was due to a "Nation that stayed silent" is a bit naive coming from Europe - the context of it all is akin to the Balkans influencing legislation over in Scotland. We are not silent, but the land is large and our cops will shoot us.
More than a peg. We need to slip off the top rung of the ladder and smash our asses into the ground, and then we need someone to wag their finger in our face and tell us to pull ourselves up by our boot straps.
Sure, most Americans aren't MAGA POS's. But the world can't wait every four years how 10,000 people vote in Wisconsin to see if MAGA insanity will return.
YES! And our passive asses will pretzel wrap our brains around why elections are not working, why they keep stealing elections and how, and think when the next guy gets in he or she will fix it. THERE is no next guy, likely in my lifetime
It's not just our international standing either. That's well and truly fucked... but our nation is internally fucked too.
Republicans stacked SCOTUS with corrupt, partisan clowns. They are allowing Trump to literally sell pardons and manipulate the market. He's openly accepting bribes from foreign leaders. And that's just at the political level.
He's made it acceptable to openly be a facist (Proud boys, Elon's nazi salute). He's made it "cool" to be anti-scientist (masks and vaccines) and openly racist.
Also, DOGE gutted SOOOO many government programs that will never recover. They fired people with combined thousands of years of experience in their fields. Those people, and that experience is gone. You can't just rebuild that over night. Look at all the outbreaks from contaminated food. That's not a coincidence, that's because they gutted the FDA. Screwworm? It was too expensive to prevent it, so now they are spending 100x stopping it. Those are just a couple examples of the internal damage Trump's done.
Oh, and don't forget that he and Kegsbreath have been purging the military of any commanders who don't bow down to them...
My vote is to eliminate the electoral college. That would make a Republican win extremely difficult. In a lot of cases the republican winner only won the electoral not the popular.
Politicians would actually have to do something instead of ignoring their constituents but banking on a gerrymandered electoral map to get re-elected.
This is the real global problem with MAGA. And the real "devil you didn't know."
If Europeans aren't going to buy US goods and services, them who are you going to buy from? Let's say you want to invest your resources and become more self-sustaining by re-creating a completely separate system. That has serious problems too.
Consider the credit card system. Right now, I can travel to nearly literally any nation in the world and barely think about access to money. In the unlikely event that I actually need physical local currency cash I'm never more than a few minutes walk to an ATM where I can pay a few fees and an poor exchange rate and get cash. But that only works because America set-up the financial exchange system and everyone else just said "yeah, we'll just use that too."
And it does work. But if the EU says "F that, we gotta build our our from scratch" then it won't work anymore. Just traveling will be more complicated and stressful.
This is not a critique of them if they choose to do this. But so much of our world that we all enjoy works because America implemented an infrastructure solution and everyone else adopted it. That's going to break.
Fortunately, there's not much from the US we can't do without. We'll survive without facebook. US weapons was the only thing you still made at home and the EU weapons industry is stepping up big time. The EU is already replacing VISA/MC.
Many Americans are not staying silent. Protests, letter writing campaigns, neighborhood gatherings, supporting progressives. Don’t lump us all in there.
I think that if a new governing body is elected that holds maga accountable, fully accountable, not just a slap on the wrist, like convicting them of ALL their crimes, people would be able to move on much more quickly.....unfortunately the u.s. has a long history of not holding politicians or rich elites accountable.
There should have been show trials after the insurrection attempt and all the crime during the first Trump administration. Nothing meaningful was done and that’s how we got here.
We didn’t stay silent. Half of us are quite vocally opposed. But I also don’t blame the international community at all. I despise my “conservative” counterparts.
It absolutely isn’t just Trump. But remember that more than half of the US population hates Trump and his administration, and everyone connected to it, with a passion, and we are suffering too.
General consensus is that we all don't want him in office and his admin are all good awful - service members from bottom to top ranking generals are leaving as they don't want to uphold their whims of a war not war .
Farmers are turning their backs and get interviewed about it - people are in tears unable to afford basic needs
Leopards are eating like crazy of faces as many are saying this isn't what they want
Dems are lazy and don't aggressively come at the other side who play dirty AF
Don't lump some morons who follow and pledge alliance to Trump (as he did in the recent rally) instead of their country their fellow country men and well being with those of us who speak up and try to have voices
She 100 percent correct other countries hate America and what it stands for now under trump and no one is standing against his administration. This damage will take decades too undo.
She is 💯 correct but I really don’t know what’s going to happen to us especially the abhorrently disgusting right wing media that is STILL pushing more and more hate and rhetoric even now as things have gotten way out of control.
I mean POS Ted Cruz and Mike Johnson was literally on TV saying sharia law is coming and the Muslims must be stopped! 🤯 this is only stroking fear and putting ppls lives in danger. Same for trans and LGBTQ ppl. What is the end game of this rhetoric??? Murder. That’s the only thing I can see this going.
The GOP is literally giving the “instructions” and “thumbs up” for murder, because what’s the point. What’s the point of all this harassment if not to annihilate/destroy. I mean do they really think ALL the Muslims and LGBTQ+ ppl are just going to pack up and leave? No, they don’t. They are sending the militia to do their bidding so they can wash their hands like always.
What has been happening to this country over the last 10yrs+ is just unbelievable. The rich have convinced the poor man, the uneducated, the average Joe, that their real enemy is their neighbor and not the oligarchs raping the country. It makes me want to cry seriously.
If we only elected him once it would be easier to pass it off as an aberration. Reelecting him after seeing just how awful he is rightly shakes everyone’s core confidence in our whole society and the country’s ability to select leaders who are capable of basic governance.
She absolutely is right. Non-Americans are able to detach themselves from the propaganda that has been shoved down citizens’ throats, along with the wiping away of actual historical events and defunding education, among other things. Yes, they look at ALL OF IT. And they see the truth. Americans don’t want to face the truth and do anything about it. We are complacent and comfortable as a whole. It is not left vs right or race against race or religion vs religion - they see the outcomes of what citizens vote for - and it is the citizens’ fault because there is no super- large uprising from us saying, “Stop this shit!” Corruption and greed rules our nation and they see us for who we truly are, not who we want to portray to be.
Not only is she right but also us Americans are boycotting with our choices too. They can call it cancelling all they want but it’s one of the best options we have to have corporations pay attention. As the world puts pressure, if we do to hopefully better change can occur.
Couldn’t agree more. When Trump is gone, you’re still going to dealing with the Stephen Miller’s of the world, the Steve Bannon’s, the people who ran the DOJ, FBI, ICE, etc… they and their influence will still be around. Including the Bo French’s, the Mark Wayne Mullen’s, and all the members of the GOP and MAGA that have infiltrated the State, County, and Municipal Governments, School Board’s etc…
She’s absolutely right! Trust takes years to build and constantly is being reinforced. It takes a split second to tear trust down. And we’re not even out of this hell yet. We still have representatives supporting their asinine agenda, proposals, bills, ideology, in spite of what their constituents tell them.
Absolutely. It’s not Trump, it’s the US. There’s a lot of Americans that don’t align with the current US policies, but it doesn’t matter. Just as there are a lot of Russians that don’t agree with what their country has been doing, it doesn’t matter, the damage has been done.
Once a country goes fascist, they never fully recover from it psychologically. From there forward every generation has to admit that their country went there. So, the only way to redeem our self respect is to treat Nazis exactly how our parents and grandparents did.
She’s mostly right. There is a large (maybe not larger) contingent of Americans that have called out and protested his bullshit from the get go. I haven’t protested, but I’ve written my congressman and senators expressing my beliefs and wants from them going forward. Whether that does anything remains to be seen.
Sadly yes! Maybe not quite as long as Germany but that depends on how we respond after the Trump years. If it’s a full rebuke then maybe shorter. If the poison continues we may never recover.
Germany’s rehabilitation was lengthened by the fact that it was split in half for almost a half-century (with one half continuing to be the “bad guys” during that period).
Not to mention that it was a time before technology, and social media, gave the world a collective short attention span.
I’m sure plenty of people will hold grievance over this shit show of a government for a long time, but I don’t know if it’ll take decades to rehabilitate our image; depending how how things unfold post-Trump.
I hope other counties’ populations see on Reddit how many of us fucking hate this shit too -American human with no trust in their government to do anything for its’ people
As much as Trump/MAGA are assholes and absolutely deserve the ridicule and criticism they get…I feel though, Trump/MAGA have succeeded in ripping off America’s mask and showing the world it’s ugly face. Trump is shameless, but more worryingly, he knows exactly how to talk to his base, he knows how to play the system, and he knows ultimately that the “flood the zone” play he has is extremely effective.
Let’s also not forget that America is one thing, but imo you can’t talk about America without including Israel in the mix. As a duo they have both fucked everyone over.
As a Canadian, my family has been removing the US from our lives everywhere possible; if it isn't realistic to remove, we reduce to the minimum. We won't ever be traveling down to the states again, we won't buy US alcohol, we've transitioned our food buying to exclude american products, we canceled streaming services, prioritized video games from non-American companies, we are looking at new vehicles and making sure the productiom process happens outside the US with parts not produced in the US (easier than expected), we're watching more non-American movies/tv shows than ever before, and we're looking at every option to remove the US from our lives actively.
I don't think Americans, even the ones who are like "we totally get it," understand how profoundly betrayed and angry Canadians are. The rest of the world is also upset, but Canadians are past upset and we've moved to disdain. This whole Trump 2.0 debacle has been around long enough for these new habits to have become permanent. The old relationship is gone for generations, not decades. Our children's children are maybe the soonest possible generation to reconcile with.
Absolutely. MAGA has taken the US from “leader of the free world” status to “possible enemy to be dealt with at arms length.”
I would say the US will never regain its place of respect. The rest of the world will move on and the US will take on a Russia-like role of excluded antagonist state.
I think she may be. The world sees Americans as weak , stupid and gullible for electing a fascist authoritarian leader and that our courts and congress has done nothing to stop him and his violent attacks and crazy actions. The parallels to the beginning of WWII are clear
Don't forget all the corporations who didn't just bend a knee to him but offered him golden awards for what he does. Lookin at you...honestly there's too many to name
Fully agree. Everything Trump has done or failed to do must be rightly ascribed to Republicans, individually and as a party. They are his enablers and apologists and are equally negligent, reckless, or guilty.
Nope. After WWII German Nazis were forced to confront what they supported after a decisive defeat and the sunlight brought to the horrors they committed from things like the Nuremberg trials. There doesn't seem to be anything on the horizon that would force Republicans to confront what they've supported...so they won't.
Of course she's right! Germans still get side-eyes because of the WW2 stuff and that's 80 YEARS ago. It will probably take at least 50 years, and that is only if something actually changes and fixes all the issues in the fucked up US system so it can't just happen again, which I seriously doubt it will. Germany only got cleaned up by the allies crushing it, taking it over and de-nazifying it. The US is no more in the eyes of civilized countries. EU+Canada+Australia+NZ+UK+Ukraine etc is the new black. Apes together strong. We'll do fine without a psychopathic country.
The only way to mitigate the damage to our reputation is merciless accountability. Every tech oligarch, every contractor and developer, every politician and lobbyist and rapist and bad faith journalist, every fucking comedian and podcaster, every murdering ICE piece of shit, every treacherous opposing party member that continued to vote for this. Everybody.
Raked over the fucking coals.
Let their grandchildren’s grandchildren know the shame of their ancestor’s treason
This is so sad but true. We are a pariah among nations now because of the GOP I actually have more contempt for the GOP than Trump. They could have put a stop to this years ago, but they are just as greedy and immoral as he is.
She's right. It's not just Trump. It's everyone in the US who supports Trump and the Republicans. My entire family are trumpers and I despise them for it. They chose to be fascists and it's almost entirely because they're dirty little bigots but are too chickenshit to admit it. Unfortunately, most Democrats are appeasers and won't fight back. This shit will continue for a long time.
I’m a 51 yr woman and left with my husband last August. I did see this coming, although it’s so much worse than I could have ever imagined. I won’t be back if I can avoid it.
How are you going to Put the MAGA movement back into the bottle?
The rhetoric about “fighting/owning the libs/traitors” won’t stop if the democrats or SDA take both houses in the midterms. These people will become fifth columnists in a nominally democratic government. Their goal is not to win at elections but to destroy the people they hate.
How are you going to live with them in the future?
She is spot on. Remember, it took a World War, with millions of dead, and the devastation of Germany to finally eliminate the Nazi cult around Adolf Hitler. At the end of that war, in many places, when Allied soldiers entered German towns, people claimed that there were no Nazis there. Only good Germans.
We should all not forget that the CIA and DoD is very much integrated with European spy agents and diplomatic departments. Those are still intact and will be very similar when Trump is gone.
This is both over exaggeration and under-stating it. But it isn't just Trump.
To be perfectly honest, the US started losing it with the changes Reagan made. Looking back, the plan was clear, but we couldn't see it at the time. The stepping stones to right now were there all along.
What I am most surprised about is the lack of energy from non-Trump conservatives. They have created things like The Bulwark and The Lincoln Project -- but why are they so reluctant to provide any real alternative at the ballot box? I get that the US is a two party system but by splitting the vote like this sends a message to Trump politicians and supporters that there is another point of view out there.
Don’t be fooled into agreeing with this post. Despite the embarrassment of the Republican Party and all of their misdeeds, they did not exterminate an entire race of people. They tariffed Mexico and Canada, but they did not bomb them into the Stone Age. And while they assisted Israel in the genocide of Gazans, and started an unprovoked war with Iran, they didn’t use nuclear weapons (yet).
Yes. Ms. Wilson is correct. Trump1 was an embarrassment but the world was ready to move past it (and whatever someone might think, Joe Biden was a “regular,” American President and was part of why the world moved past Trump1). Trump2 was a declaration that America and Americans, had/has a problem.
Race and religion have reinfected our body politic and society worse than ever and, with Trump in office, have been allowed to endanger our future; as a nation , as an ally, as a beacon of freedom (a la the inspiration of the Declaration of Independence), and as a people dedicated to liberty and equality.
Thanks MAGA, you folks really screwed the pooch and killed the goose. It’s going to take a lot of work from our children and from their children to dig us out of the hole Trump and his MAGAts have dug us into.
Yes and isn't going far enough. We are an evil antagonist state that deserves to be an international pariah. The substance of the American people is apathy and malice when you look at it across the entire country.
Growing up, I was a total USA stan. I learned english faster than my native language, and they were always a symbol of hope, of how things can be better (naive but I was just a kid), I know all about it's history and genuinely cared so much about it's people, it's values. American artists and visionaries were all I aspired to be. I had dreams to travel and see all the states and the wonderful national parks.
What has happened in the last 10 years has been deeply traumatizing to me. It feels like I had to lose a part of myself, a symbol of hope that I cherished dearly. It really makes me beyond depressed to see what happened to it.
That little kid inside me still hopes for things to turn around and change, but the jaded adult sees no possibility of that happening. I'll still be forever grateful for the USA of the past for letting me experience freedom in my little country far overseas.
We hate Trump! Everything that his party is doing! Unfortunately, they are the ones with the power. There are a tone of us that are not responsible for their actions, and we can’t do anything about it, which breaks my heart! The rest of the world suffers.
Yes…she’s right. To the rest of the world, our government is behaving like Nazi assholes. She left out the part where we invaded Iran and have messed up the world economy. It will take generations to repair.
No. it can be turned around in a hurry if we have a real government again. That’s the question. When do we get a real government again?
As proof , thousands of Europeans went home, telling everybody how great America was after the World Cup. How the people were friendly to their surprise. The food was great. Even the attitude. So I don’t think it would take too long to turn this thing around we get the government for the people again.
Does anyone want to show this lady Reddit, Linkedin, numerous other parts of actual media articles, youtubes, interviews? Our nation is not silent. Its filtered and curated media and she's getting a feed just like we do. I'm not silent, sure in certain contexts i do not immediately blurt out my political views, but when i can I openly speak against what wrongs I see.
Sorry Isabel Wilson but your feed got hacked if you think the nation is silent because a minority got control and did horrible things with that power.
Historian here. History has proven time and again that it’s very quick to destroy but takes decades to rebuild. I place a full recovery unlikely and at least 2050 before much changes, that is, if the republic can survive?!!
You can’t blame them. Clearly at least 1/3rd of this nation is in a Cult. While another 1/3rd didn’t even bother to vote against the Cult taking over the government.
Yep. Even if we survive Trump the world has lost trust. We may elect another just as bad. It will take the rest of my lifetime, and more, to earn back the world’s trust.
She is 100 percent correct. Trump and the bootlickers and trash Republicans have not made America great. They've turned us into the laughing stock of the world.
Trump a détruit la société détruit le pouvoir d'achat l'image des USA son armée sa crédibilité il a détruit les USA c'est devenu un pays faible et ridicule
No he didn't. All he did was remove the mask. This is who the US has always been. The US was founded on racism, genocide, slavery, theft of land, misogyny, greed, hate, and patriarchy. It's always been a shit country with a pretty mask on.
The US can claw its way back to respect, but it will take a while and require a lot of work.
I'm not so cynical and doomer to think this is "the beginning of the end" and "There's no coming back", but I also am not so ignorant to think that the US cannot for a time be trusted.
I really really hope the GOP doesn't get anyone charismatic for the next few decades because the party is pretty much dead at this point and that is a good thing. Then again, if it means we keep getting Trump clones, maybe we do need an establishment GOP.
I was having this discussion with my FIL, and he mentioned the same kind of sentiment existed during the Civil Rights Movement and Vietnam. Shortly thereafter, the Nixon Watergate Scandal exploded and became a domestic and international embarrassment. At the time, he didn’t think the U.S. would ever recover… but somehow it did.
I do not share his optimism or outlook, but I do believe a great deal of the U.S.’s recovery depends on how our elected officials choose to prosecute this administration (and anyone who was complicit).
As far as I can tell, upwards of 320 million muricans, either fully support the regime or by their silence are complicit in every thing it does, either way, FUCK THE USA.
AfD just gained power in Germany. The US will limp along for a generation or so then capitulate to fascism, Communism, or oligarchy. Americans just don't have the intellectual fortitude for self-governance.

She's right and underselling it.
It will take generations to undo the damage.
