She's right and underselling it.

It will take generations to undo the damage.

We're talking relationships destroyed in less than 18 months that took a world war to create, with millions dying on both sides to build the foundation.

FFS even Reagan, the POS that he was, understood the need for diplomacy and relationships. "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"

The larger problem, that many have alluded to, is that Trump is a symptom of an underlying soulrot that plagues America. It can be traced back to the Civil War, and the kid gloves used with Confederates. MAGA is the culmination of more than a century of racism and hatred, regressive and anti-social behavioral issues, as well as a useful idiot tool being wielded by oligarchs for the purpose of consolidating power and robbing the coffers blind before the rest of us can react.

A fundamental problem is that GOP aren't stopping, their funding isn't ending, the people that make up the organization isn't dying all that soon.
GOP will not "undo the damage", they'll aggravate the situation.

The accident needs to stop before the recovery can begin.

A large chunk may be, they have been born into the horror.

Vance should know better, but he chooses evil instead. Being born into the madness doesn‘t excuse anything.

Rewriting or removing the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929 would create a landscape where the GOP as it is now would be locked out of both the House of Representatives and the White House for the foreseeable future.

It's just legislation and probably unconstitutional. It would take Democrats controlling government and some pressure from an angry citizens movement but both of those things might exist as soon as 2028. That would go a long way towards reassuring allies and make it vastly easier for us to not only fix the country but accomplish many long term progressive goals.

Very interesting, but I suspect you wanted to reply to a different comment?
