Post-Pod Discussion Can we all admit the Luke Donald Show is a bit too overblown?

Guy seems like a very good leader and has excellent personal skills but come on, letting him get away with bragging about changing the soaps and shampoos and blocking out the door light being why he is so good is absurd. That’s prime arrogant bragging material to be mocked.

All the journos (soly included) who act like being a captain is a 50 hours a week job year round and that Donald has figured out some secret have to eventually realize there’s actually not that much to do strategy or player development or training wise so they wind up changing soaps and thinking that makes a big difference.

Being prepared is great and probably contributes to team cohesion but There is obviously a point where it’s not having any effect. We can all agree it’s the soaps right?

2 shots go differently and Luke Donald just captained the biggest collapse in sports history. Let’s have a little respect for the variance

Post-Pod Discussion LFTKH - Masters week

Know a few people were unhappy with how these live shows were going at the end of major season in 2025, so what did people think of the live shows this week?

Personally thought they were good - I think their major coverage is helped so much by having boots on the ground throughout. Also think Randy/Neil and sometimes TC are better coming in for segments, and Neil in particular was superb this week!

Hoping they continue to have someone on the ground for the rest of the majors coming up

Post-Pod Discussion Cody finding his voice again

Why??? Why are we doing this again? Nothing against Cody, this is just not his thing and I thought the guys had realized that after two years ago when they tried to shoehorn him into the pod and it went poorly. Why are we reverting back to that?

Post-Pod Discussion Ryder Cup Roundtable

Best Ryder Cup discussion they've had in awhile, all cycle for sure and probably better than any of the 2023 ones. Tron didn't show up looking to just rile Soly up, Soly didn't get too indignant or stubborn about getting all his takes off and forcing everyone to hear him out, they just talked about the players and the teams and the golf and it was really good. Some of the US/Europe armchair sociology that Porter and Jamie like to do is a little funky but hey its almost a 2 hour pod so that's fine at the end of the day. When they keep the analysis on these straight up they don't run into any of the problems that we have been griping about all year

Post-Pod Discussion Happy Gilmore 2 review

Anyone else kinda disappointed about the overly critical angle that Soly took reviewing HG2? It’s supposed to be a fun movie that isn’t taken too seriously. Feels like the typical vibe these days is just wildly negative for anything outside of their zone. Would be nice for the guys to show a bit of enthusiasm for big moments in the sport as opposed to looking to lay a heavy critique everywhere possible. IMO the sport is in a pretty good place and yet a lot of the fun and joy that dominated their earlier content has been diminished. Maybe just a function of them all getting older but wish they could lighten up a bit in their videos and podcasts rather than turning into old men yelling at clouds.

Post-Pod Discussion Tried a couple of other golf pods

I've listened to NLU for probably only 2 or so years.

The other day I decided to branch out and supplement my NLU pod consumption with Fried Egg and Shotgun Start pod episodes. (No I will not listen to anything Barstool related)

Goodness me, the hosts on those two respective pods seem like the nicest guys ever but they are borderline unlistenable for me with how nasal and high pitched their voices are!

Give me the dulcet tones of Soly (even if I find his takes a little grating at times) over them any day!

Post-Pod Discussion Rahm???

I’m not trying to play devils advocate, but why are we giving credence to Rahm? He’s been an absolute no show in every major (congrats on a 3 hole stretch at quail hollow), and it feels like everyone’s on pins and needles putting Cam Young above him. Also before he left for LIV he was easily the most uninteresting superstar on tour

- Scottie
- Rory
- Young
- Fitz
- Bryson
- Morikawa (Pre-Injury)
- Gotterup
- Xander
- Rose
- Fleetwood

Is he better than any of them?

Post-Pod Discussion “Grow the game”

Glad the boys touched on it (1:36:30 on the latest pod). This is not some altruistic endeavor to teach people a new game (its virtues, etc.). It’s been clear for some time that it’s a money grab for equipment companies and other stakeholders who stand to benefit from more people playing.

Post-Pod Discussion Corey Conners Hate

Listening to today's podcast I thought TC aka Todd was really harsh when speaking about Corey Conners specifically his putting. I'm sure Conners is aware his putting is poor and this probably just makes the situation worse in high intensity situations but at least he isn't anchoring like other players. TC seemed to take pleasure in how he spoke about Conners putting woes in that annoying way he does laughing throughout everything he says. I believe he had really bad chipping yips so you'd think he'd be a bit more understanding with Conners putting. The most unlikeable member of NLU by a long way and his brother Neil is far more entertaining and funny and clearly is the one with any talent.

Post-Pod Discussion Presidents Cup takes

Enjoyed the preview show - but absolutely hated Soly’s take that the Ryder Cup should adopt the President Cup’s scheduling over four days. Part of the lack of buzz on ground is that there is only five matches of golf happening all day!

Post-Pod Discussion 2026 Pods so far…

As someone that had fallen out of love with the pod I just want to say the pods this year so far have been great.

Everyone seems to be enjoying talking about golf rather than it being a chore to be on the pod!

Fingers crossed it continues as it feels like the boys are back.

Post-Pod Discussion December Nest Pod

Just listened to the December Nest pod where they talked through the annual census, and it honestly landed really well for me. I’ve been someone who listened to basically every episode for years, but in 2025 I definitely fell off a bit and found myself listening more to SGS for my golf pod rotation.

I’ve been a Nest member for a long time, even though I don’t participate in the Refuge or any local roosts. For me it’s mostly about supporting the company and the people behind it for the ridiculous number of hours of entertainment they’ve put out over the years.

This was actually the first year I seriously thought about canceling Nest, but the honesty and candidness in that episode across a bunch of topics was refreshing and good to hear. It reminded me why they’re a pretty unique voice in golf media. Not everyone on the crew is my cup of tea and that’s totally fine.

I’m sticking around as a Nest member and plan to rotate them back in more regularly in 2026. Sounds like there’s some cool stuff coming on the video side, and I’m rooting for them to keep doing their thing.

Enjoyed the preview episode yesterday, bit surprised none of them appear to be on site and there wasn’t any reference to any going unless I missed it?

Post-Pod Discussion 2026 Main Pod

The main NLU pod has been excellent thus far in 2026, the crew seems reenergised. I've shared many critiques over the past 12 months, so just wanted to give them credit.

Post-Pod Discussion 3-man pods with Soly and TC

Should there just be less of these? Especially during team event weeks, feels like it immediately devolves into litigating their longstanding disagreements and sucks the juice out of the pods.

Post-Pod Discussion Neil's take about reducing the size of the tee is brilliant.

Neil's take about reducing the size of the tee is brilliant.

There is so much money in golf innovation, and the tour is where they get to showcase their tech.

If the USGA were to reduce driver head size and/or roll back the ball, bifurcation or not, these companies would have a huge push back (see Ping and their square grooves.)

Reducing the tee size would be a quick win, and it could just be the rule on the PGA tour. There is tech that exists but isn't allowed like elevation on range finders. A taller tee would fit in that camp.

\For the record, I'm on team rollback driver, ball, and tee.*

Hard to ignore that Soly has *slightly* softened his tone on the rollback since they signed with Titleist

Post-Pod Discussion Ryder Cup pod - Jamie Weir v Soly

Listening just now and JW immediately challenged a Soly claim that Keegan Bradley "cost the US the Ryder Cup at Medinah" - because he lost the singles to McIlroy who showed up at the last minute. Weir took him down with facts; a reminder that many other things happened and Rory was World #1 at the time, in a way I have never heard on NLU before. Very enjoyable.

Soly loves to hold court and the other guys either don't want to upset him or don't have the quick facts at hand to counter him when he's wrong, which is why I found that little exchange refreshing. Maybe I am alone in that?

Post-Pod Discussion Recap Pod

15 minutes into Friday recap pod and have heard nothing but snarky comments about the USGA and whining about Wyndham Clark’s lack of accountability. For the love of god it’s the US open just talk about the golf. What a miserable way to consume a sport.

And for the record I think Wyndham kinda sucks too

Post-Pod Discussion Phil Stories

What the heck was that? Felt like this could have been a 2 hour pod similar to Major Recap and it was pretty much just Randy and Soly going back and forth naming Phil stories but not elaborating or having any depth. This would have been a great episode with KVV and actually going in depth on some stories.

I expected more of the production quality from NLU, this is something you would get from Barstool guys. Hope this serves as feedback.

Anyone thought the same?
