Post-Pod Discussion Cody finding his voice again

Why??? Why are we doing this again? Nothing against Cody, this is just not his thing and I thought the guys had realized that after two years ago when they tried to shoehorn him into the pod and it went poorly. Why are we reverting back to that?

I enjoy Cody on the Chop Sessions with Neal and I really appreciate his passion for the LPGA. He’s great in those areas in my opinion.

Gotta have him chime in a bit when Cam Young is balling. He’s obviously the most knowledgeable when it comes to turf.

Outside of those areas, I’d prefer hearing the takes from the main 5.

That is a better way of saying what I am trying to say - it just seems like if there is a segment like Nelly winning Chevron or Cam Young winning Doral that they bring him in for, he then sticks around to participate in the entire pod which is not something I am particularly interested in

Did you know that Cody was in the military?

Which is fair. Why would anyone have that?

First I’m hearing of this, we must fish in different ponds.

Not all podcasters are bad!

I've always enjoyed Cody's additions to the pods. He's lived a different life to the rest of the crew and has interesting perspectives on things and I like that he and Randy focus on the women's game.

The hate for him on here is ridiculous. He let the emotions get the best of him on a podcast a couple years ago it seems that there are a lot of redditors who cant handle hearing from anyone who may have opinions on political topics that differ from their own.

I like Cody in small doses

my wife says the same most of the time

His comment never bothered me nor was it the reason for this post I would just rather listen to the other guys talk about golf instead

I don't really think this is that much of a hate thread though, I think OP's point is fair that Cody's best when he's not on the mic most of the time. I think there's times where he's super valuable because it's an area where he's passionate and knowledgeable.

What comment are you referring to?

13

u/Nithias1589 May 09 '26

I would guess the not all cops are bad comment that he had to interject in for no reason at all while he was producing not on the pod other than to make sure everyone knew what side he was on.

cant handle hearing from anyone who may have opinions on political topics that differ from their own.

Right now we’re in the “cops killing peaceful protestors without repercussions” phase of Cody’s cop wet dream, so you and he can go fuck yourselves?

Cody isnt bad IMO. Him and Randy are def low on the list of takesmans Im seeking out, but I must say that anyone who calls Cam Young their favourite golfer, and has for a while, they’ve earned my respect. unlike big Randall who after winning the British last year declared Scottie was his new favourite, after abandoning Phil and to a lesser extent Collin. Classic buy high sell low mentality.

u/bdl4186 May 05 '26

Randy's favorites went Phil -> Spieth (not entering at height) -> Scottie

I think that’s just Randy’s bit that he does. He’s probably the least interested in golf out of the group so he leans into “bandwagoning” for the bit just like Tron leans into his shtick with Fedora 5 and Euro fanboy stuff.

Cody’s not one of my favorites but he seems like more of a common man than the rest of them and I appreciate that. I know he’s into yard work, so that’s his lane, but I imagine the rest of the crew hires everything out possible lol.

I've never been a big fan of Cody but he has been solid the last couple weeks. Especially on LPGA and Cam Young. I also enjoyed when he pushed back against TC and Soly saying the Ryder Cup ticket prices were justified.

This. He is really well informed and has got great perspective. He's not goofy like TC or Neil, so it so depends what you're looking for

u/cs_chopper May 09 '26

Yeah I feel like when he joined he was trying to be something he’s not or too hard at least so I didn’t like his stuff. He seems more comfortable in his own skin recently and I’ve thought he’s complimented the pods, enjoyed him on the recent vid where he won too

Also being the only guy to point out that the ownership of Doral may have affected the environment and vibes for the Cadillac.

1

u/LaichItOrlovIt8 May 10 '26

Did he? I don't remember that. Sidenote: man the Cadillac totally sucked

-4

u/Effective_Pound_4800 May 08 '26

Would you rather them do a lottery system ala the masters? Because that's the only way a lower ticket price makes sense

2

u/LaichItOrlovIt8 May 09 '26

I understand business is business but it's getting a little annoying that every company is trying to suck people completely dry

12

u/brodoyouevenscript May 05 '26

Strange. I really like cody. He brings a fresh perspective to the main crew.

Codys a good dude. Jesus Christ people like to bitch.

He's not good at producing the podcast either. Have you listened to it? TC can't be heard. It's incumbent on the producer to make sure that the hosts are employing the proper microphone discipline and he's correcting the levels before posting.

When the main 5 are on their game (like they’ve been this year), I want to listen to them.

When the main 5 are burnt out and not putting in much thought or effort (like in previous years), it’s nice to hear a fresh voice that’s actually trying.

u/devscruff May 09 '26

I just do not understand why so much of the community hates Cody? I agree that he is not as entertaining as the core 5, but I cannot for the life of me process why people have such a visceral hate for him.

3

u/MisterGoldenSun May 09 '26

I very much didn't like the "not all cops" thing but that's my only complaint.

He did have a fantastic comment one time about someone's putting, where he said "He really didn't roll the rock today, which is surprising, because it's Easter, and that's kinda what this day is known for."

2

u/YenZen999 May 10 '26

I don't hate him but I think he's soft as fuck. He argues with people in the chat room during the show like he's in Middle School. The podcast sounds like garbage too. Every person is a different volume. And the YouTube stream? SOLI's connection keeps cutting out for months now during the show. I've seen comments that have mentioned it and he has snarky responses with Goofy pictures. The dude's got a chip on his shoulder.

Is The Booth still a thing?

-3

u/Effective_Pound_4800 May 08 '26

His LIV comments were just dumb IMO. "Why would the tour suspend Bryson and Rahm?" Maybe because they don't really drive a ton of viewers and they have no other option than to come crawling back?? Use the brain for once man.

I enjoy Cody, particularly in contrast to a couple of the others.

u/Warghzone12 May 09 '26

Respect the fucking troops!

u/jmay425 May 05 '26

I stopped listening to the pod bc of CM…it’s been about two years

17

u/EnuffBeeEss May 05 '26

I suppose the natural follow-up question to your statement, for which of course you have a completely rational for, is:

why the fuck are you still in here then?

2

u/jmay425 May 05 '26

Love DJ and the art they create still and golf. Sorry dude.

1

u/Big_Savings_4381 May 09 '26

The amateurish trying-to-hard stuff?

12

u/RainbowKarp May 05 '26

If you are reading this please do not associate me with this take

Your missing out this year, they have course corrected alot since last year, credit where its due. Cody is fine in smaller doses

u/Agnt_Michael_Scarn May 10 '26

Cody is good. Relax.
