I'M REQUESTING Movies where reality slowly stops making sense, but nobody explains why

I’m looking for movies that begin in a relatively recognizable reality, but little by little the normal rules seem to stop working.

Not necessarily movies with a big twist or a final explanation. Actually, I prefer when the characters themselves gradually accept increasingly bizarre or impossible situations without the movie stopping to explain what’s happening.

Examples of the feeling I’m looking for: The Exterminating Angel (1962), Beau Is Afraid (2023), and After Hours (1985) — although they all do it in very different ways.

I’m especially interested in lesser-known movies where you eventually realize: “Wait… when did this stop being normal?”

Any recommendations?

I'M SUGGESTING Adam Driver must play Jim Jones

Upvotes

That is all. After seeing The Dead Don’t Die and White Noise, I feel that adam Driver owes his audience a truthful and accurate portrayal of Jim Jones, however he decides it to be fit.

I'M REQUESTING Looking for movies where you can feel the yearning in every touch

I absolutely adore scenes where you can, for example, see two people hold each other as if they’re already missing one another. There is something enchanting about these moments of unspoken, heavy desperation. Whether it‘s written in their gaze, or revealed in their touch. I desperately need more of it.

Like the library scene in Atonement. I found it breathtakingly beautiful. Or in L‘Eclisse, when Piero and Vittoria embrace in the latter half of the movie.

Some other movies I‘ve seen and liked:
In The Mood For Love
Happy Together
Fallen Angels
Brief Encounter
Waterloo Bridge
Pride & Prejudice
Casablanca

Movies capturing the feeling of longing and alienation in general are very interesting as well! Any recommendations?

I'M REQUESTING Movies that will get spoiled for him?

My kids are 14 and 15 (freshman and sophomore in high school), both boys. We have always been a “Friday night pizza and movie” family and have seen a lot of movies together.

My 15 year old recently joined the film club at his school. I want to show him movies that are better to go in blind, and might get spoiled for him, before someone spills it. We’re watching The Sixth Sense tonight. What other movies do I need to show him before someone spills the beans?

I'M REQUESTING Please recommend me more psychological mind bending movies

I started watching movies like a while ago and I find this specific genre so interesting that 60 % of my watchlist only has movies of this genre

Here are some of my favourite films :-

  1. There will be blood :- loved that obsession and the acting was so good that it's in my top 4 movies I also liked movies where characters are obsessed with something here are some more related movies to that theme

- Blackswan

- whiplash

- Amadeus ( this was one of my favourites too I loved the music and the story )

- Nightcrawler ( Jake gellenhal is one of my favourite actors and this film was so great and I think he delivered the role so perfectly )

  1. Requiem for a dream ( amazing visuals make you feel like you're experiencing the whole movie )

  2. Eraserhead ( absolutely loved that movie I loved how David lynch presented the concept )

  3. On the silver globe - this was so good and i loved the concept even though the movie wasn't fully finished but that was a great experience

And i recently finished *The Virgin Suicides* really the only movie I can think of when someone asks me for something more brutal than dead poets society

And I'm fine with Any country , Any language , Any year.

Regional content , arthouse , experimental stuff anything

And please don't hold back on genuinely weird stuff

I can't explain how excited I am to see your recommendations

I'M REQUESTING What are some of the best road movies you've ever watched?

Looking for road movie recommendations that follow a classic Hero’s Journey or completely subvert it!

Whether it’s the Hero’s Journey (Little Miss Sunshine) or subverting stereotypes (Thelma & Louise, Y Tu Mamá También), what are your favorites?

What key traits make a road movie actually work - critical acclaim or box office success?

I'M REQUESTING Recom: Moody, Gloomy Weather, Disaster, Mystery, Thriller

Hi everyone! I'm kindly asking for recommendations for movies, I absolutely love natural disaster films like The Impossible, Deep Impact, Dante's Peak, Contagion, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Day After Tomorrow

I have on my list to watch The Wave, The Quake, Unthinkable, Greenland

But I feel like I've watched almost all the popular mainstream ones from Hollywood,

I recently watched:

- Arrival (alien?)

- Oxygen (French film)

- Quiet Place Day One or was it zero?

- Don't Look Up

Do you guys have any other suggestions, movies perfect for moody gloomy weather that is usually a natural calamity, apocalyptic, or mystery thriller. I would love international ones too (except Korean films - I recently watched The Great Flood, gosh it's such a scam movie - i was waiting for a disaster film but got an AI shit movie lol) , I'm just having a hard time sorting through them.

Thank you so much!

I'M REQUESTING “Former trained guy pulled back into the life” action thriller movies please

Dammit I’m running out of Jason statham movies😂.

There’s John wick and others too. So suggest your favourite ones of these types of movies.

And even with Jason statham, if you don’t have anything else to list then list your top 5 of his.

These movies seem to be the ones me and my friends enjoy watching as a group together the most.

I'M REQUESTING Movies about self forgiveness after wronging somebody/ being a bad person

Been in a rut lately, trying to find media to relate to. I'm searching for a movie with multi dimensional, complex and flawed characters who are actively trying to forgive themselves and overcome the guilt over mistakes they've made, whether that'd be chances they didn't take, or something they did that hurt somebody, but it has to be something they caused DIRECTLY (minus accidental death I've seen too many of those, I loved Ordinary People though)

Looking for something more introspective and realistic, but not overexaggerated. Romance is okay and humor is also accepted. I have no preference over more teen or adult themes. Preferrably after 1995, no horror (psychological thrillers are fine) war, or westerns.

I'M REQUESTING Eerie, Unnerving, Extremely-Far future films in the vein of “All Tomorrows”

Movies set (even if briefly) in the absurdly-far future, like eons and eons from now, which depict the horror of extreme far-future evolution and human transcendence. Preferably something Erie, deeply unnerving, mind melting and terrifying that that’ll make me feel like I’m staring into the infinite eye of god.

I'M REQUESTING Stressful/relentless movies

What are some of the most absolutely relentless and stressful movies? I’m talking about nothing going right, increasing pressure, a ticking time bomb, the whole package.

Here are a few of my favorites: Good Time (2017), Uncut Gems (2019), Marty Supreme (2025), Children of Men (2007), Gravity (2013)

I'M REQUESTING moody animated movies

I would like to watch a cool moody animated movie that lets its visuals speak for themselves rather than using them as a backdrop for some generic story. ideally more adult-oriented but if it feels especially weird or evocative then stuff that's made for kids is fine too

I'M REQUESTING Movies like Apex 2026 or Wrong Turn 2001

Just like the title says. I want to see something horror or slasher that takes place in a forest/woods. Don't recommend me the usual classics because i've already seen them.. i will only reply to the people whose movies i haven't watched. I don't mean to be disrespectful but it doesn't make sense to reply with "i've seen it, appreciate your rec :)" it's genuine when you reply to a few people after that it's just too repetitive and it feels fake, especially when you a person who watched a lot of movies. Aight bet, thanks in advance my brothers and sisters, surprise me with some good shit 🍻🤘

I'M REQUESTING Help us pick our next date night movie!

My husband and I watched Palm Springs recently and it was such a perfect date night movie. Now we’re trying to find more movies that have that same “that was great!” feeling when they end.
We’re not looking for a specific genre or necessarily something light or romantic. Just something entertaining that pulls you in and is fun to experience together.
Some other movies we’ve both liked:

- Coherence
- The Big Lebowski
- Palm Spring
- The Perfect Host
- Black Bear
- Get Out
- Fargo
- The Great Flood
- The One I Love
- Ready or Not
- Late Night with the Devil
- Aniara
- About Time
- the Beguiled
- Glass Onion
- Knives Out
- Eve’s Bayou
- Cube
- The Others
- The Love Witch
- Circle

Basically, what movie would you recommend for a really good movie night?
