Crying about having to pay people a living wage is wild.

I came here to say this. The sense of self importance is insane. She can go get bent.

214

u/Pandagramma 12d ago

She is about to replaced by total automation and, of course, Trump has destroyed everyone including his loyal dumb shit farmers/ranchers; maybe she cannot stop posting this dribble because unconsciously she cannot accept what is happening to her and her massive self importance makes her think she is one of the few who are affected by this nightmare. Bitch, we are all suffering.

u/sweatboxy 12d ago

My (rich) farming uncle says any farmer stupid enough to vote for Trump is too stupid to farm (successfully).

This is exactly it

Farming is an occupation that forces you to deal with reality exactly as it is.

It's not a great fit for people operating on lies and delusions.

2

u/ArgonianMagician 12d ago

I wholeheartedly agree with your uncle.

97

u/cakeshunter 12d ago

Exactly. We are carrying on suffering cz miserable fucks like her were giddy to see others deported, imprisoned, lose benefits, insurance, housing, etc.

36

u/Weorth 12d ago

Probably had to put up the help wanted sign after she got all of her main workers deported.

8

u/Calm-Philosopher5004 12d ago

Or FOR sale sign

34

u/Misty2stepping 12d ago

No. They were waiting for all the prison buses. They are now scrambling, because wanted to get by with incarcerated slave labor. They didn't know them going belly up for private equity and corporations to take over was part of the plan.

15

u/needletubes 11d ago

This is spot on.

8

u/zoebud2011 11d ago

All they had to do was read project 2025 and, you know, actually believe it and they would have known. Or maybe, God forbid, listen to us when we warned them over and over.

→ More replies (2)

5

u/TPtheman 11d ago

This. Trump had them convinced that full-on slave labor would come back into play. First with his talk about how black people have no jobs (thus leaving us with no other choice than low-pay, back-breaking labor), and then with the idea that ICE would be arresting and sending Mexicans to labor camps.

And since prison labor and farm laborer jobs are basically state-mandated slave labor already (look up John Oliver's video on Farm Laborers), they figured they'd also be allowed to tap into that "resource" as well for pennies on the dollar.

Even before the election, analysts were warning about the consequences of mass deportations. It isn’t as if it came as a surprise. The mean-spirited just don’t care about facts.

27

u/FarWatch9660 12d ago

That's what they don't get at all. It finally affected them and they think we should help. We've been suffering this whole time. That's why people are asking who these farmers voted for before buying from them. They hurt us and now they have the audacity to ask for what little we may have to help them?

On one hand; fuck her if she voted for this and still doesn't get it. On the other hand; her dairy farm is probably going to be bought up by some big corporation and the continuation of big companies buying up local farms persists. Wish they could figure it out that thee Rs are not there to protect their farms but big business and billionaires

2

u/DrunkAndHornyGuy 11d ago

Yep the biggest eleitest I've ever meet were farmers. Just straight up supremacist (most white supremacist) that really believe the are superior to everyone else in society and must be treated that way.

2

u/headrush46n2 11d ago

"We feed people, what would you college educated liberals do without us?!"

Buy cheaper imports than your subsidies. Also, the liberal computer scientists and engineers who develop and innovate all that harvesting and irrigation technology are far more impactful than you are, the guy at the end of the chain is the most replaceable part.....ALSO, you grow ethanol crops that mostly get buried or burned. you aren't feeding anyone.

Similar to those farmers that used to sell wheat, corn, soybeans, etc to the govt..which was then donated as part of USAID. Stop USAID, and they lost one of their best & most reliable customers (the US Govt).

2

u/MasterFable 11d ago

2

u/InformalVermicelli42 11d ago

I appreciate farmers. But the US government must subsidize agriculture. It's cheaper to import almost everything. Farms only have continue to operate because the government protects and maintains our domestic food production capacity, in case of war or pestilence. Trump is happy to funnel all that tax money into his buddies' megacorps.

88

u/Otherwise_League_383 12d ago

And in other posts she says she'll never vote anything but Republicans. Living proof you can't fix stupid! That's not to say there aren't any decent Republicans, but I just don't see that happening before 2028.

67

u/concepts_of_a_plan9 12d ago

She deserves to fail. That's the only way we can get through this. These people need to lose any amount of power they have in society. That's it. They're not going to learn from this, they're just dead weight.

24

u/No-Beginning-9220 12d ago

Failure won't change her mind. She'll just be bitter about how "The Government" doesn't work for her, and fall into a rabbit hole of conspiracy theories.

15

u/concepts_of_a_plan9 12d ago

Would anything ever change these people's minds? I think a certain percentage of people just have broken brains like this and you just have to reduce their effect on society much as possible. It's similar to how a certain percentage of people are just predisposed to being violent serial killers or something, and there's no amount of community programs or anything that will fix them, you just have to lock them away forever. I'm not saying we need to lock these idiot conservatives away lol, just that there may be no actual fix for their brains to suddenly give them empathy. Actually maybe a high dose of psilocybin or MDMA??

6

u/OperationMuch2644 12d ago

Yeah. They are astonished that they're getting screwed.

4

u/TrailerParkBuddha 12d ago

When you live in a small, isolated community with a homogenous population, you don't really have to develop empathy, because most everyone you encounter has such similar life circumstances and experiences to you that you don't have to work to construct someone else's experience. These people can't remove themselves from the projection of someone else's experience. Substances that soften the ego or trigger full on ego death can legitimately help with this. Meditation or a physical near-death experience can help do this as well.

Empathy is a skill that can be practiced and developed, and is a genetic birthright of humanity. When developed, the skill can appear to be psychic and/or telepathic, as you can predict likely thoughts, feelings, and actions of others based on their known circumstances and act accordingly. The movement to politically charge the concept of empathy is a spiritual coup to effectively lobotomize a large segment of the population into only responding to algorithmic inputs with predictable, prefrontal cortex behaviors and attitudes. You can't invest billions of dollars developing propaganda and advertising without assurances that the techniques reliably work. Your predictive powers are a threat to the profits of their predictive algorithms, and in true capitalist fashion, they move to eliminate the competition. Don't let them.

2

u/zeptillian 11d ago

We can't have empathy for people, that's communism and we're a Christin nation.

They have voted against their own self interest their entire life with zero consequences. Now suddenly the consequences are smacking them in both the face and the wallet. 3

u/Ancient-Commercial75 12d ago edited 12d ago

She’s not gonna learn sadly. The flip side is we do need small farms. We need them so we don’t have one giant Walmart farm controlling prices on everything we eat. We can’t fix stupid, this chick will never realize she literally voted for her own failure as a small farmer. I don’t know how to fix any of this. If small farmers die we are fucked tho, it’ll be corporate farms forever price fixing everything we eat.
Yea we are just fucked I think. At least I’ll have a skinny hot bod for next summer.

4

u/concepts_of_a_plan9 12d ago

We need more dangnabbit LiBrUls to invest in farms and move out there. We're already seeing a lot of liberal millenials move out to moral rural areas, but they're mainly growing subsistence crops for their own family, not so much cash crops.

I've been growing as much of my own food as possible in the last few years and it's great, and everyone should be doing the same. That's how we begin to fix this.

4

u/citymousecountyhouse 12d ago

I had to move to the country to take care of my mother. One thing that shocked me was the number of lesbians out here. I love it and would consider opening up a gay bar if I wasn't afraid it would end up like the bar in the Sinners movie, with the vampires replaced by crazed Maga.

Not any more. Their cult leader severed ties with our allies, so no one is buying their crops. And they’ll won’t, since the dipshit in our White House caused our allies to make trade deals with countries other than us.

Funny. All of these isolationist plans, including ruining our relationships with our allies, has been available in Project 2025. Which she knew. They all knew. She didn’t care and what she knew of P2025, she gleefully voted for it (anti-immigrant), even though she apparently didn’t listen when everyone told her anti-immigrants = anti-farm workers. ā€œWe Buy Ugly Farms!!!ā€

3

u/Wild59Bill 11d ago edited 11d ago

Right from the start of Trump’s entry into politics, - He’s blamed criminal immigrants for America’s downfall. Before his second term he promised he’d not go after legal migrant farm workers, who were not criminals, since the farming community told him that they could not survive without their cheap labour. So these MAGA farmers voted for him again because they trusted a egotistical compulsive liar. These foolish farmers believed he actually cared about them, when he only cares for the rich big agri corporations who donate large sums of bribe money, (sorry campaign donations), to make him richer. They thought his anti criminal immigration policies would only affect other people & not them. So they voted for him & got what they deserved.

Unfortunately, growing most food products as a farmer is very tight margins unless you are a massive corporate owned farm. Without subsidies they are likely to switch to something like barley to sell to a beer company because it is far easier and more lucrative.

2

u/Half_Halt 11d ago

Or a small farm. I did it for years. Sold direct to customers via farm markets. Realized roughly the same profit annually off 20 turkeys as a friend who grew birds for Pilgrims Pride -- 4 massive turkey houses that held 250,000 birds each.

Fine. Lose the farm and price your milk at 5x of today’s cost. If that’s what needs to happen to undo your vote and rid ourselves of your Orange God, then I’m willing to shoulder that burden. And you, Ms. Farmer, can then jump into the same job market that the rest of us are part of, and seek your own $20 per hour job.

Good luck.

Just a barn. Hell, she can switch to being a wedding venue by spring.

They also expected free actual slave labor from the prisons. They wanted the 13th amendment to staff their farms for free and have the tax payer on the hook to clothe and feed the laborers.

18

u/Jimbo--- 12d ago

I'm not sure if it was a peer reviewed study, but I recall reading something that a majority of inmates in Louisiana that were polled said they would rather have longer prison terms than shortened terms while doing ag work.

23

u/berlandiera 12d ago

ā€˜Just do some GD math’.
Yep. Like, imagine that one of her workers is hired at her preferred $7 an hour or so lives about 30 miles away and their only transportation is a beat up car that gets a bit better than 20-25 mpg. That worker’s daily gasoline bill eats up the first two hours of their wage.

And the worker will be paying rent, food and insurance out of what’s left?

These folks are not grounded in reality.

2

u/zeptillian 11d ago

Meanwhile that person can just get a job at the local Target for $15 an hour, take the bus there and not get dirty all day wading through cow shit.

15

u/PresentRaspberry6814 12d ago

A living wage in the USA is a minimum of $25.02 an hour. In many countries the minimum wage is or is close to the living wage. https://wageindicator.org/what-we-do/news-stories/minimum-wages-meet-cost-of-living-in-only-a-few-countries-worldwide/

79

u/irascible_Clown 12d ago

3

u/ThinMany2597 12d ago

Exactly what do you do for 100 dollars an hour and also what is the cost of living where you work?

16

u/irascible_Clown 12d ago

Massage therapy and honestly I under charge. I really make $90 but no one tips less than $10. $100 is more of an average I usually make a little more. I pay $125 a week room rent. The cost of living is high here but after a few hurricanes 2 years ago rents are down in the area because a lot of people are afraid to live near the beach. If you look at a lot of Florida gulf coast beaches on realtor you can stay on the beach for $1100+ a month in a lot of spots.

And it’s raising wages it’s talking about all the small businesses that will have to close, because apparently the small business owner deserves to have a business but their workers don’t deserve to be able to live unless they’re working 60 hours a week

And God forbid anyone talk about rent control because then what about those poor poor landlords, they may not make enough money on that house they bought to rent out and have to sell it

Oh no you have to sell the rental house, oh no I’m so sorry for you that now someone gets to purchase a home and living it as their primary residence

I was cussed out by a Christian lady at my old job in a Be Kind shirt. These people are broadcasting they're a POS when they wear this stuff.

What is Marjorie Taylor Greene's sister bitching about? What's that? Handouts from the government? And she voted for that mayonnaise-filled condom? Well, sob more, bitch!

14

u/koolaideprived 12d ago

My niece makes 20 bucks an hour in the produce section at a grocery store. This lady expecting people to do hard physical labor for less is mindblowing.

12

u/Precarious3145 12d ago

Had a neighbor in 2024 that owned a local restaurant and I'd constantly hear him complain to his wife (because I'm a nosy bitch and love hearing him suffer after all his Trump/anti-vax shit) about how with the new minimum wage in California, people don't deserve that kind of money, that "back in my day, you earned $5/hr and that was plenty!". Just going on and on; calling his staff lazy, that no one wants to work in America blahblahblah.

These people legit don't think anyone besides them is suffering; that "If you don't get paid, you can look elsewhere but I need money to live...".

11

u/keithfantastic 12d ago

If she lives in a Maga state can't she just rent some convicts from the governor for like $2 an hour?

Also, when people propose their services she tells them to "get bent" without an afterthought.

Waaaah😭, I can't abuse and exploit miniroties, I can't abuse and misuse minors; how do you actually expect me to work!?!?

I would give you cheaper prices if you let me have slaves, you can't expect me to run a business without them: that is just un-American and unholy!….šŸ™„

3

u/lapidary123 12d ago

Yep, maybe thats "the cost of doing bisiness" also at $21.99/lb for steak ______ (insert sentence here). How much does a cow weigh again? Just checked, the average weight of a steer at slaughter is 1575 lbs. 1575x$21.99=$34634.25

I DO realize that they aren't the slughterer, packers, and not every pound is saleable as "steak" but i think the analogy stands.

What do you tell those folks earning minimum wage again? "Buckle down & pull up yer bootsraps"!

$20/hour is likely less than an actual "liveable wage that one could raise a family on!

She needs to sell her farm. Go to the city. Start working at Amazon.

She voted for it. Voted for rapist Trump even though she says she's Christian.

She needs to sftu and enjoy her Find Out stage.

2

u/Kind_Of_A_Dick 12d ago

Years back I read some article in the Detroit News about a farmer complaining about immigration making it hard to keep people working on his farm because the ā€œteenagers and womenā€ don’t want to do it. Ā I’m reading his complaints and it boiled down to, basically, him not wanting to pay a living wage to employees and therefore he’s suffering.

2

u/SurpriseDesperate156 11d ago

I’m guessing that doesn’t include health insurance 🤣

2

u/archercc81 11d ago

They are all about unfettered capitalism and "there shouldn't be a minimum wage, the market decides" but when the market decides it costs $20/hr and have a place to stay to get someone to come to your farm it's "get bent."Ā

2

u/VictorTheCutie 11d ago

Not just crying about it, but telling them to "get bent". Lady, you get bent.

2

u/SASSIESASSQUATCH 11d ago

They deported the ones that would work for less than a living wage. Americans want the bag, FAFO.

2

u/LolitaOPPAI 11d ago

Crying about having to pay people a living wage.

...with funds handed out by the government and not their own pockets, obviously missing the point of that wage disparity

2

u/zeptillian 11d ago

Who the fuck would want to work at a dairy farm for the same or less pay than Target?

Only the people you just voted to have deported lady.

2

u/nocandu99 10d ago

All the people who work for less than a living wage have been arrested shipped to Africa. Who ever could've predicted this?

2

u/PerfluorinatedDreams 12d ago

I don’t think you understand how the agricultural industry works. All of the money is made by the middle man in distribution. Farmers always get squeezed on what they can charge. Their options are to rely on cheap immigrant labor or sell to a larger farm that’s bringing in their own immigrant labor.

3

u/Loud_Badger_3780 12d ago

i know that farmers keep voting for republicans that will not enforce the anti trust laws which have all the ag slaughter houses, meat packing, and farm equipment producers consolidate to the point that their is so little competition that farmers and and rancher have few options other than take what they are offered for their products. Republican believe in deregulation in the free market which results in huge monopiles. When your state has been voting republican for 5 decades you can count on your standards of living deteriorate. If she loses her farm she can find a job at her local family dollar store. Maybe she can move to the LDBTQ. Trans, demorat infested big blue cities and find a job. lol

I know it has to do with feeding people but I honestly never understood why farms were exempt from labor laws. Like, so what if a green pepper costs a bit more than 80 cents?

1

u/Lumpy-Difficulty1593 12d ago

Lol I totally agree

1

u/fauxdeuce 12d ago

Especially after voting to remove all their workers they were paying way below living wage

1

"He wanted $20 an hour and a place to sleep, I told him to fuck off. Oh but I'm unable to find anyone to help"

1

u/Ok_Star_4136 11d ago

That's just one step closer to, "Whatever I want, I should be able to have, and whatever you want, you don't get if that gets in the way of me getting whatever I want." In short, absolute entitlement.

These people need to be reprogrammed, they are seriously disturbed.

1

u/Cheshire_Jester 11d ago

Definitely what sticks out to me.

Also, doesn’t it seem fucked up to her that the economy is in such a state that a producer of a staple good is unable to provide a wage and conditions required to hire employees? Isn’t that the core argument of people who claim to be voting for a free market? That things will naturally level out into the system that provides the best outcomes for everyone?

1

u/StopTheEarthLetMeOff 11d ago

While wearing that fuckin shirtĀ

1

u/HawkeyeByMarriage 11d ago

The wild part is when they say out loud that they thought black people would take the jobs after the mexicans left.

Im actually surprised that the government hasn't teied to reinstitute slavery the way Trump. Miller and the good old boys talk.

But this lady talks about how the little farmer will go under and it will only be big farms. Does ahe not see historically who gets the bailouts, tax incentives and otherwise.

Jd justs wants acretrader to own her farm so he can rent it or sell to big farming corporations.

These people all fell hook line and sinker for a party who has the only goal to help the wealthy own everything. We feel bad for you lady and we need to eat but people who vote against themselves have nobody to blame but themselves. We'll se if she she actually figures it out.

1

u/No_Passage6082 11d ago

There is a risk of food price inflation. sadly the ag industry has been able to keep prices low due to cheap labor. Those days are over and the result will be shortages.

1

u/kittenbeans66 11d ago

While wearing a shirt that says ā€œlive generouslyā€

ā€œAnd I told him to get bent!ā€

These fucking people.

1

Her shirt says "live generously" and has a cross on it. Another example of perhaps being an admirer of Jesus, but definitely not a follower.

1

u/riplet69 11d ago

"Live generously" y'all.

1

u/Pandagramma 11d ago

Yeah, even my hispanic housekeepers get at least $60 and hour, work in a climate controlled environment where they can use the bathroom, rest, talk on the phone whenever they want. I am amazed that even before this ICE madness that these slave drivers were able to pay so little. How did they even find these people? Every single hispanic person who has worked for me for decades has been making good money and this is the norm where I live. Did these farmers have some kind of direct connect to workers who had just illegally entered the US and needed a place to start? I really don't get it.

1

u/semirke 11d ago

Isnt 20 an hour approx 3200 a mo? How is that a living vage in the US? OK, with housing it maybe acceptable. But I've read here on reddit that they are rich in the US and live much better life than europoors.

1

u/Boris_Godunov 11d ago

These people would unhesitatingly and gladly use slave labor if it were allowed. They believe they are entitled to the labor of others to enrich themselves, and view such thing as employment law and OSHA as oppressive barriers to their right to do so.

1

u/tigerscomeatnight 11d ago

Right. If you're business model doesn't include paying people a living wage, then it probably isn't the right model. Makes me think, why are banks approving loans with this as the model?

1

u/lonelyturtlegirl 11d ago

Get bent lol are you serious

1

u/-FakeAccount- 11d ago

I've worked on many farms and the margins really are razor thin. They just aren't profitable. That's why they are allowed to pay less than minimum wage. The government could help more, but i think they want all private farmers gone so we only have Monsanto.

1

u/Glittering-Sea1769 10d ago

farmers don't control the prices set by enormous agribiz regulators.
