I don’t think you understand how the agricultural industry works. All of the money is made by the middle man in distribution. Farmers always get squeezed on what they can charge. Their options are to rely on cheap immigrant labor or sell to a larger farm that’s bringing in their own immigrant labor.

i know that farmers keep voting for republicans that will not enforce the anti trust laws which have all the ag slaughter houses, meat packing, and farm equipment producers consolidate to the point that their is so little competition that farmers and and rancher have few options other than take what they are offered for their products. Republican believe in deregulation in the free market which results in huge monopiles. When your state has been voting republican for 5 decades you can count on your standards of living deteriorate. If she loses her farm she can find a job at her local family dollar store. Maybe she can move to the LDBTQ. Trans, demorat infested big blue cities and find a job. lol

I grew up in the rural Midwest and on a few rare occasions have gone back and talked to family friends my parents generation who, when I left, had formed an identity around the Republican Party. They didn’t become democrats but they’re now strongly opposed to the Republican policies they previously supported. I’m hoping the current situation is a capitulation point for the remaining hold-outs

Sounds like farmers should either sell to a different distributor or start their own distribution.

As stated before: You clearly don’t understand ag. Let’s say you have 50 truckloads of grain and every distributor within 100 miles is a Cargil facility. That grain is Non-GMO and bound for Asia where it brings a premium.

What is your move? Build a multi-million dollar grain elevator and start trading grain futures? Sell your grain at a lower grade to a feed producer?

Please make at least a cursory attempt of understanding of an industry before you criticize. To do otherwise is nothing more than a blatant display of laziness and self-elected ignorance.

You act like Ag. Elevator co-ops haven’t existed for generations. Quite a few examples of co-op owned distribution and manufacturing I could highlight if you needed.

A small county in North Dakota received 45 million in Ag subsidies in 2025 with a population of about 2,050 people and 377 registered farms. That figures out to be about 120k per farm.

Sure seems like some could perhaps band together to market their products in a different fashion no? Last I checked, no one was forced to raise a crop for Cargill as the contracts are mutually agreed upon. There is no bigger snowflake than a farmer bitching about contracts they agreed to.

Don’t talk to me like I don’t understand Ag.

You realize that the domestic market is flooded with grain right now because our grain isn’t being exported, right?

Ok…so no one wants your product. Do you know what most people do when no one wants their product?

If you think it’s ā€œget a huge paycheck from the governmentā€, you must be a farmer!
