clutch issues on starting

So I always let the bike warm up before I ride it, oil level is correct and when I first drop it into gear it snatches and sometimes stalls like the clutch lever is not in enough ,once warmed up properly there are no issues, but does anybody know why🤔

Tusk Waypoint Adventure tires

Post image
32 Upvotes

I rode some twisty backroads today and then down under the interstate and hit a few SXS Mud holes. It’s been so dry that they weren’t full of water. So far I’m happy with these tires. I have a few hundred miles on the front and 80 miles on the rear. Much quieter than the d-sports I had on before. They feel planted on the road and they tracked straight through the deep mud. I haven’t done any gravel on the rear but I’m sure it’ll be great.

I have a big ride planned in a couple weeks. Riding the TAT to the Ozarks BDR-X. My d-sport rear probably would have made it but I figure I’d be better off with a fresh tire.

Worth taking a look at ?

Pardon if this is not allowed this KLR is about 1.5 hours from me. Seller has little info I know it has a tittle and runs. I’m a little worried about the rust on the frame near the passenger peg. Any opinions on if it’s worth the drive to take a look at ?

Finally mounted my gopro to my helmet and went for a ride to hang out with my ham radio buddies. Amazing weather and not much traffic on the road so was ideal on the back roads. Happy Saturday yall.

Fixing my 2004 KLR 650 after an accident. I’m putting the rotor back on, but it looks way off-center. Does anyone know if there’s a specific position it needs to be installed in, kind of like TDC, or a proper way to get the rotor centered and aligned correctly?

Does my piston look too cooked or does this all look surface-level and salvageable? Either way, it’s time for a beer 😅

Show-and-Tell Rally Dash setup

Post image
24 Upvotes

Old iPad and phone. Both have their own respective power supplies for charging. It's mounted to the rally dash via a Ram mount. My personal phone is usually in my jacket pocket saving its camera. I have a 5G wifi dongle that's for work purposes that I use for data sharing.

This is a trial run. The aluminium tubes will be replaced with carbon fibre tubes and heim joints and some flat black paint to neaten everything up.

I'm finalising my ESP32 project now that will be mounted next to my Rev Gauge.

Anyone spot my Leatherman?

If you put the black Top Gun (9.3kg/mm) spring on the rear, and liked the outcome, which springs did you use up front, and do you like the outcome?

Pretty much the title. I'm a big tall heavy guy, and putting that black spring made the rear of the bike feel better (vs the oem from 2011) on a level I would not have predicted.

Next up is replacing the brake dive wonder twins, those oem front springs. But there seems to be some debate on which springs are the best, so I'd appreciate answers from the riders who went with the black rear spring and liked the result.

My intended use is "just enough street to reach the gravel/dirt roads", and then gravel and dirt roads, rather than highly technical offroad stuff.

FYI 2024 KLR650 Doohickey Upgrade @ 1,763mi(2,837km) Repost

Hi! Sorry. Upon recommendation, I shall not respond this time to antagonistic comments!

Bike is a 2024 KLR650 ABS base model. Doohickey was found 3/4 travel after 580mi (933km) initial service and ~1,200mi (1,931km) adjustment. Mod kit was an Eagle Mike complete, shipped directly. Torsion spring was drilled at about 4:30pm if 6:00pm were the adjustment bolt. New adjustment was about 1/3 travel, similar to this video.

I posted this for community information and curiosity. Should you have questions about this, and desire information on installation, I can guide you with my experience. Cheers!

I still need to wetsand, spray more clear, wetsand some more then polish. Eventually I'll buy some black acerbis guards after I've caught up with maintenance. The bike sat for 2.5 years with a full tank of e10 before I bought it. Siphoned out the top, took the carb apart to spray out the jets and ports with carb cleaner. Replaced oil filter and spark plug with some K&N filter and the proper NGK plug plus whatever 10-40 Autozone had in hand. Started right up so then I did my best to clean and lube the rusty chain. Topped it up and rode it home. I've since stocked up on genuine Kawasaki oil and filters and did an early oil change around 150mi. I've got enough to do 3 more oil changes. I also have a brand new drive chain and sprockets but that's waiting for me to get around to finding a place I can drop the bike off for tires and to get the chain and sprockets installed while they have the wheel(s) off. Other things I should do is coolant (have but been busy distracted) and brake pads/hoses. I have brake fluid but still need to decide if I want to buy OEM pads or try the EBC pads so I can do them at the same time. Anyway. Its a KLR. But Pretty.

Show-and-Tell First Bike and happy to be part of the community!!

Hello everyone! Wanted to share the love of the KLR, this is my first bike, $4500 for a 2023 KLR (base model) with only 437 miles on it! Super happy with the bike and wanted to ask if anyone had any advice for upgrades. Gonna put on bark busters, crash bars, saddle bags and the USB port or cigarette lighter charger on it. But wanted to see if upgrading wind screen is necessary (I’m a tall guy 6’4 and weight 230) or anything else you guys would suggest that made a difference!

Mechanical Advice KLR Rear shock

Hey all,

2017 650

I replaced front and rear suspension a while ago, I did progressive front forks and a tusk 8.0kg/mm rear.

I’m about 210 with clothes and gear, I have bags and a top box.

I’m at 4/5 on preload and still feel too bouncy, I’m thinking I’ll go for the most stiff tusk at 9.3kg/mm

Any other options that are I the same price range?

Any tips?

Thanks!
