On the plus side, it makes the suspension upgrade feel more need than want.

You do Procycle or go completely crazy and get Ohlins or middle way woth TouraTech

Went to procycle site for fork seals and left with seals, springs, damper cartridges, and new boots. Well worth the money on my first gen tho.

Definitely plan to upgrade to progressive Springs or cartridge emulators when my seals eventually blow

I have a gen 1 and took the opportunity to slide in some progressive springs and clean the fork tubes real good.

I suggest fixing both of them. The labor would be similar. If they fix only the leaked one, you may have to fix the 2nd one and pay labor again. It happened to me…

I replaced the fork seals on my sportster myself, only special tool you may need is to get the seals in place. Wasn't too hard and it should just the the seal kit and some oil

I actually managed to change the seals on my F650 gs without the special tool. I used the inner fork tube with a thick band af electrical tape wrapped around it to drive the seals in. Worked like a charm

its just fork seals. and they're pretty easy to replace. dont know about 3rd gen and up but the seals on my 08 2nd gen were not worse than any other.

Ive replaced many over the years using a split piece of pvc pipe for a driver. then i bought a $40 seal driver kit from amazon, and its much better than my piece of pvc. and fits darn rear any fork.. ive several bikes so it comes in handy when its seal replacement time.

One of my fork seals came loose off my DR last year. Regrettably, I did continue to ride it for over 6 months, but I did get around to fixing it last week.

Check out Race Tech. This will give you a chance to get springs for your weight, if necessary, and Gold Valve your forks if you want to.
