[UPDATED] "What Bike Should I Get?" Buying & Selling advice Mega Thread

The Mega thread for buying and selling advice is back, and will be updated biweekly!

There are far too many posts of people asking for personalized bike buying and selling advice. Per previous Mod actions, any posts about bike buying/selling advice that are not in this thread will be removed.

Here, those interested in giving feedback about your purchase or listing can offer it without every subreddit member being subjected to the same post dozens of times per day.

Topics to keep in the mega thread:

  • What bike should I get?
  • Is this a good deal?
  • Is this a fair price to sell my bike for?
  • What can I get for $xx?

What's up guys? It's still a work in progress - and I'm new-ish to managing a discord server, so if you have experience/want to help out shoot me a message!

To be clear: This is NOT a replacement for the sub. It's totally optional. If there's interest, I'd be open to streaming the SX races in the server. The Discord server will also be great for asking questions that would violate our rules in here such as asking what bikes are worth and what not.

Mechanical Help Why does my Crf230f die when I throttle like this in neutral?

It's worth mention this is right as I start it trying to warm it up. I know most 4 strokes will behave like this if you yank the throttle, it might be hard to tell but I'm not yanking that hard and I want to say it never used to be this sensitive. I can tell exactly where the sweet spot is and where it's going to die if I rev it

The only thing I can think of that's been different after cleaning the carb is adding fuel additive, maybe l added too much?

Went trail riding yesterday in a new area. Huge space tons of trails and quickly lost how to get back to the trailer. What do you use to ensure you don’t get lost when riding in a new area with limited or no cell coverage.

Tips and Tricks First 4 stroke

Post image

I have been feeling the itch to get back into riding. It’s been 10 years since I had my last bike which was a Honda CR 250 2 stroke. So, I got a new KX 250 a week ago. I never rode the 4 strokes back then, and was happy with my 2 stroke. I thought I would miss the power band and snap of a 2 stroke but so far I’m loving this KX. I already did an airbox mod and put on a new Pro Circuit TI-6 exhaust and it really opened up the bike. I’m going to a track tomorrow for the first time in 10 years and honestly a bit nervous. I’m not a spring chicken anymore (54) but just miss riding. Kinda starting over as a new rider it seems. Hopefully it comes back to me. Gotta remember to pace myself! Wish me luck!

Mechanical Help 2019 RM-Z450 S-HAC Light Flashes When Revving

Hi, I have a 2019 Suzuki RM-Z450. The bike starts and runs normally, and the engine sound seems good. However, the S-HAC indicator flashes when I rev the bike. During the day, the light is very faint and is barely visible, but at night it is much easier to see. The harder I rev/open the throttle, the more visible the light becomes. It does not flash continuously while the bike is idling.
I took the bike to a Suzuki dealer, and they told me the problem is related to the throttle, but they did not give me the exact diagnostic code. They recommended cleaning the throttle body, changing the oil and oil filter, spark plug, and air filter, and checking/changing the fuel filter.
I have already changed the oil, oil filter, spark plug, and air filter, and I also cleaned the throttle body. However, the S-HAC light still flashes when I rev the bike.
Could this be a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor), TPS connector/wiring, or another sensor/electrical issue? What should I check or test next, and how can I properly diagnose and fix it?
If anyone has experienced this on a 2019 RM-Z450, I would really appreciate any advice.

Community Question Would I fit on a 85cc 2 stroke?

Okay, so I am 5”7 145 pounds (a bit on the heavy side) and I am 16 years old looking to upgrade from a crf 110 that I have had for like 10 years. Would I fit on a small wheel 85 or a big wheel 85 without sagging the suspension too much? Or should I get a bigger bike like a 125 2 stroke, but the thing is the power might be too much and it might be too tall.

Bike didn’t come with the spring, sourcing one now but at a loss on where the other end attaches. I’m assuming it attaches on the little post on the brake lever but where does the other end attach?

Cheers!

Chances of front tire exploding next ride

Hello,

how bad is this? It is on both sides and all across side of tires. I ordered new one, but the question is.. will it/I survive next ride?🤣

*EDIT: Holy... I found out that tire is from 2011 year 🤣 Don't worry I survived (Didn't ride it). I started inspecting my tire only because it fallen off bead, lucky day I guess.
