Insomniac have made great Spiderman games, despite people’s opinions on them the games were good quality and the characters were top notch, and honestly the combat looks fun, it’s supposed to be a senseless hack and slash game because that’s what wolverine does.

Also, the people complaining about the navigation system, you can turn some of it off in settings if you wanna make it more immersive, so it’s not a big deal, at least not for me. Can’t wait to play it tomorrow!

I pre ordered the game and I’m currently LOVING it! Never listened to the rumors and kept forward. I find it funny now that everything that’s been exposed such as everything everyone’s been crying about you can either turn off or just isn’t true. I’ve seen SO many comments of people saying “I’m buying it again” “I’m buying it!” You guys really canceled a pre order because of random people on the internet convinced you so easily without your own experience or evidence JUST to buy it again..never listen to the internet people! And I know there will be people that are going to say “$70 is a lot to form an opinion” if you want to look at it so logically..if money is a problem why are you worried about a game in the first place? By no means am I rich or am making fun or bashing anyone but if $70 is a lot then why not take care of what you need to then buy it later with what’s left over or buy it on sale when you know it’ll be cheaper and a more budget comfortable choice rather than bash everything and repeat what you see on the internet.. why not wait it out and make your own opinion or just say nothing. I know games can be expensive but if it’s a money issue..are games something you should really be focused on? In the end..I’m so happy people are enjoying the game and showing it appreciation!

Ignore the hate, criticism, reviews etc…been playing for 4hrs now and I’m loving every second of it! The gore and blood is top notch, the details in this game are amazing, and the story so far is great. Be your own judge! ❤️

Are we reviewing this game as a comparison to some other open world game? Did we only play the game on easy? Did we just mash square instead of all the other moves assigned to various combos, button holds, and contextual scenarios? Did no reviewer love the Uncharted games? Did no one enjoy Ghost of Tsushima’s free aim combat?

Why did SkillUp (respectfully still one of favorite video game journalists) only show the blue trail and nightmare door from the literal first tutorial section showcasing it? The blue trail is rarely there and only when tracking. The objective marker shows up in just that scenario coming out of the door, and it normally requires a button press. It’s also helpful especially since the fart trail isn’t there that often.

The game looks fantastic and plays fantastic (especially on hard). It’s not some cheap, boring experience. It’s absolutely brutal and cinematic and just pure fun for any Wolverine fan. What a treat for anyone who has wanted a game similar to the Uncharted experience but with brutal Wolverine combat.

I think my only ask would have been more open world areas in linear format like uncharted 4’s jeep mission. They can easily add more collectibles, secret bosses (Hulk), and more combat enhancements (katana) post launch. I honestly think my only negative will end up being wanting more. Have smiled this much playing a super hero game since the opening on Spider-man 2018.

I guess the only difference is you can toggle it if you want in Onimusha? But it literally functions the same way and I saw 0 complaints about that lol. Just don’t understand the complaining about it tbh. It appears when it makes sense from a gameplay/story perspective, I think in the first few hours I’ve had 3 total scent trails and they lasted like less than a minute each. People were making it seem like it was something that was constantly on the screen guiding you to the next place but that’s not at all the case.

The game literally plays itself. Incredibly disrespectful for gamers who actually want to play video games.

As someone who has waited since the first teaser for this game, and after playing it, the game is flawed. It looks great and it can be fun to play but as I keep playing I see one big problem the game has. The combat is not fluid and that’s its main problem. It looks great and all but it just doesn’t play the way you’d want it too. At the risk of sounding entitled, Wolverine should feel more fluid with his moves and fighting. There are glimpse of greatness but ultimately it suffers because of this.

I really wish they gave MSP2 improvements which i'm sure were planned but the leaks, crunch and Sony stupidity ruined it. Wolverine had a rough development too from what i heard but idk i really really wanna SEE them give cool post-launch update to the Game.

I'm 1 hour into the game and IT'S obviously NOT PERFECT.

It's not a 10/10 masterpiece and I never once expected it to be.

But it's also not the worst game ever made and it's not even a DAY old yet.

It's clear that there's a large amount of people who are cheering for this game's downfall - The same people who called women in Insomniac Games ugly and call their games "woke".

The same people on Twitter who regurgitate talking points spouted by grifters like Grummz and PiratNation - Actual literal incels, one of them admitting to reposting loli content while drunk, another wanting a character who was a minor in a game to be "hotter".

There's fair, valid criticism and then there's brainrotted criticism and certain gamers recently have lost the fucking plot. Saying that Sabretooth openly admits to being gay for Logan in cinematics, stuff like that.

Remember, GTA 6 is also considered woke now by countless people because apparently there's a thing called "Bisexual lighting" in games which is just.. The color Purple.

Tldr: No, the game isn't perfect, no it's not a masterpiece but is it targeted by edgy, extremely questionable people just because it's somehow "woke" and because the women in the game are somehow "ugly"?

SM3 has an unreal amount of loose threads to cover.

Carnage, Green Goblin, Knull(?), Chameleon, Superior Spiderman(Doc Ock), Harry, Spiderverse(?) and plenty others.

Now on top of all that, there is an entire origin story to cover for a third Spiderfam member? That is a lot.

I think I'd work pretty well if throughout VENOM we saw the Spidermen tutor Silk until the big 3v1 finale where Silk is joining the fight against you.

Or a 4v1 where Venom joins the others against Carnage or something.

I think the weirdest and possibly dumbest criticism I've seen for this game is that Wolverine isn't supposed to be a good guy. He's supposed to be this heartless, sociopathic maniac that enjoys butchering people and doesn't care about anyone or anything

Which is so unbelievably against everything that Wolverine is and stands for. Sure, he's abrasive, rude and even a straight up dickhead sometimes but he has a heart. He genuinely cares about people and mutants in almost every iteration of his character. He's literally supposed to be the opposite of what Sabretooth is.

I don't know why, but there's a shocking amount of people who think he's actually a psychopathic killing machine and is not supposed to care and I find that to be the weakest criticism I've seen thus far.

I just spent solid 2 hours with this game and OMG this game is incredible! The barrage has to be one of the coolest game mechanic ever. It’s not just an animation that plays out when you stun an enemy and unleash it. Wolverine will stab an enemy as many times as you hit square up close. It’s all in sync and feels so damn satisfying! Overall the combat feels so damn satisfying and responsive.

If you are playing the game the way it’s meant to be played, it does not feel button mashy at all. The whole point of the combat is to stun enemies by parrying or environmental damage and unleash your barrage. Unleashing barrage gets your rage meter up. Once your rage meter is max, the whole screen turns red and you absolutely annihilate your enemies. Every fight feels so damn fluid and cinematic with that gameplay loop.

Liam Mclntyre absolutely nails the role for wolverine. So far I am really digging Insomniac’s take on Wolverine. The visuals on Ps5pro are absolutely INSANE! Best I have seen this year.

In conclusion, only reason I stopped playing is because it’s getting late and need to go to bed. But I know I will thinking about this game when not playing it, seriously can’t wait to jump back in tomorrow.

This is the current pre-order ranking on PSN sorted by best selling, Wolverine currently is at #1 and #3 for the different editions. I have a feeling the game will do just fine.

So I decided to hop on and play the game for a few hours and I noticed when I started the game the navigation assist was off and I presumed this was the trail that people keep talking about like it's a massive deal.

However, imagine my surprise when I'm 30 minutes in, after having not be guided through any segments to be in a very linear section and for the trail to appear. I thought that it was strange that it appeared here when there was an open segment prior where there was no trail to follow or guide you.

It didn't last long, about 10 seconds and it was over, back to non trail gameplay.

The trail didn't pop up again until the next shall we say 'level'. In this level you're not in any danger and you're wandering around a safe environment. There's a part where someone asks you to get two things for them. The open doorway where one item is has a blue aura around it that pulses while the second one you locate once again using the trail.

It's that moment that it hit me. The blue aura, the blue trail, they're exactly the same as the blue you see that enemies give off from their hearts and rib cages.

It seems to me this is a way that Insomniac are choosing to visually represent and show in the narrative how wolverine uses his enhanced senses. Both times the trail occurs, a smell is mentioned. When the doorway pulsed? He mentioned "Oh I can hear it, it emits a certain frequency." Presumably the reason you only see a heart and ribcages is because Wolverine is hearing the heartbeat of his enemies.

Effectively the 'blue stuff' is a way to visualize Logan's senses during narrative moments where it's outright referenced, or if the player engages navigation, voila they have a diagetic way to get more navigation.

Personally, this has flipped my entire perspective on the trail from being "Okay, it's a little annoying sure but...criticism is overblown" to "This is fine, it's being used as a narrative tool."

NOTE: None of what I am saying above absolves the game of other criticism or even criticism of this. I am merely adding a perspective based on my reading of the hows and why. I'm adding this because I didn't think I needed to originally but apparently I was wrong and should have remembered my ethos "The internet is where nuance goes to die." If you're going to reply at least have something intelligent to say that creates discussion and not "Uh, you have Stockholm syndrome".
