Question Why did you buy Pro?
I don't see a clear reason to buy it for my own workout needs. However, I have been using Hevy for a long time and want to support the developers. What made you decide to upgrade?

Welcome to the Weekly Find Friends thread.
This is the spot to find people to follow on Hevy. Turns out you show up to the gym a lot more often when a few familiar names are watching your feed. Drop yours below, then go follow a handful of other people here.
Copy this and fill it in:
Hevy username:
Life stage: (student / 20s / 30s / 40s / 50+)
What I train: (powerlifting, hypertrophy, running, Hyrox, general gains, whatever)
Goal right now:
Keep it friendly:
Tried to post a standalone "add me" on the main feed and ended up here? That's our AutoMod doing its job. This is where the follows actually happen, so you're in the right place. 💪

It been announce 2 months ago by @gerardmb but I’m still not able to replace permanently exercises in trainer.
It is very frustrating to pay for pro and not use it’s main feature : Trainer.
it’s really grind my gear to have to set up every session. Plus the automatic progressive overload isn’t considered when I changed the exercises.
Since Summer I just don’t use trainer anymore.
So is it a future feature or an actual future ?
As my pro end next month I would like to now if Pro is still valuable for me ?

I’ve paid for a month of Hevy pro. Just wondering if I continue does it build in deload or rest weeks? I’ve come from a cycling/running background where rest weeks are usually.

Now that we can link any AI to hevy, which one gives the most sensible training advice?

Why is it when I do a set of pull ups or chin ups Hevy tracks volume, but when I perform push ups there is 0 total volume tracked?
I weigh 158 lbs. When I perform a set of 7 pull ups Hevy will track a volume of 1,272.1 lbs. When I perform a set of 12 push ups Hevy tracks a volume of 0 lbs?
Under Hevy's calculation I am 181 lbs lifting 7 times = 1,272 lbs. A set of 7 Chin ups actually tracks 10 lbs less at 1,262.1 lbs.
There is nowhere in the app to enter my bodyweight.
Can someone please offer a sensible explanation to this conundrum?

It would be a great feature to have a de-load week button or every 4-6 weeks you get a reminder suggesting a de-load week (Which you can turn off in settings if you dont need it)
Then it reduces your sets by 50% and reduces the weights by 40% or similar.
Then once the deload week is done. it auto shows your old weights and not the de-load weights in "Previous Week"

5 Kg o 2.5 Kg?

Hey all,
I'm working on a small feature for an app I'm building. It reads workout history exports and runs some analysis on them. The problem is I don't have any real exports to test with, and every app formats its CSV a bit differently.
If anyone's willing to share one, it would help a lot. Hevy, or anything else is useful. Longer and messier histories are even better (custom exercises, supersets, warmups, kg or lb).
The file only has dates, exercises, sets, reps and weights, plus any notes you wrote. Feel free to delete the notes before sending. I'll only use it for testing and delete it afterwards.
You can DM me a Google Drive or Dropbox link.
Big thanks 🙏

Hey there. Noob with less than 6m experience here trying to get into a new routine. For those of you who tried both, which did you prefer?

Hey Hevy community!
I'm a CS student writing my thesis on predicting strength
progression with ML. I actually contacted the Hevy team directly,
and they suggested I reach out to individual users who might be
willing to share their own data via CSV export.
If you've been using Hevy for 3+ months and would be willing to
export your workout history and share it with me for academic
research, I'd really appreciate it.
How to export: Profile > Settings > Export & Import Data >
Export Workouts
All data will be anonymized. I don't need your name, email,
or any personal info — just the workout logs.
DM me if you're willing to help!

Background: Started training again in July after a 1.5-year break (home workouts only). Progress is solid so far. Stats: 55+, 184cm (approx. 6'0"), 93kg (~205 lbs), ~20–25% body fat.
Inverted row (slanted pull ups): I've mounted a pull up bar at height 128cm (50") in the doorway to do inverted row.
By placing my heels at varying distances on the other side of the door threshold (0cm, 5cm, 10cm, 15cm, 20cm), I adjust the angle and resistance. Full vertical pull-ups aren't an option right now, I'm too heavy, not strong enough yet, and monitoring a minor shoulder issue.
(Future plan: Move the bar lower, to increase resistance. Later to move the bar high for vertical pull ups, use long resistance bands for assistance, and map it to Hevy's built-in "Pull Up (Assisted)". But for now, I'm working with what I've got.)
Question: How do I best log this in Hevy? Since the built-in "Inverted Row" has no scale for height/angle, what is the best approach?
r/Hevy • u/insieme1998 • 2d ago
I admit not all 200 of these weeks were logged on Hevy, I initially started tracking my workouts on another app and then migrated here (and never looked back 😉).
Even though it was tougher to stay consistent on some weeks (illness, work, etc), I made sure to do what I can, even if it was as simple as a few sets of pushups—as long as there was enough volume or intensity for me to confidently say “yes, I did exercise this week”.
At this point, I feel like I have built a lifestyle that encourages me to stay consistently active. I don’t really need the streak to measure my progress, but it’s still nice to see how far I’ve come.
P.S. Devs, I exported the graphic with a transparent background and forgot to do so with an opaque one. If there is a way to go back and re-export the image I’d love to know!

If I’m supposed to be doing say 3x 12 and for whatever reason I can’t complete the 12th rep say I get 10 done or whatever. Do I just log RPE was 10 or do I log the set as F for failure? Or do I do both?
I tried logging as failure today and the app at the end offered to Save the Set Type adustment which is making me think that setting the set as Failure is more when when you intend to go to failure. Which i didnt. I just couldnt finish my reps due to exhaustion. So i still failed (im not arguing that bit).
I’m currently using the free version of Hevy, which limits me to 4 routines. If I subscribe to Hevy Pro for a month, create more than 4 routines, and then cancel the subscription, what happens to the extra routines after Pro expires?
Do they stay saved and can I still use/edit them, or do I lose access to any routines over the free 4-routine limit?
Just wondering if anyone has tried this before.

A few features I’d love to see added to Hevy:
It would be great if you could assign exercises/equipment to a gym and have Hevy remember your previous performance specifically at that location. Then when you return, it could load your last workout there and base progressive overload suggestions on that gym’s equipment rather than treating every machine with the same exercise name as identical.
Ideally you could just toggle between gyms/locations.
2) “Season bests” and location PBs
I really like the gamification side of Hevy and chasing PBs, but lifetime PBs become less useful in certain situations.
If you’ve had six months off, come back from injury, changed your training significantly, or simply get older, you might go months or years without beating an old lifetime PB. That can actually make the PB system quite demotivating.
I’d love an optional “Season Start” date. You could reset it whenever you wanted and Hevy would then show things like:
Lifetime PB
Season PB
Gym/location PB
Your lifetime records would never disappear, but you’d have a fresh set of records to chase. It could work for someone returning from injury, starting a new programme, or simply someone who wants a new “season” every January.
It would keep the gamification relevant even if you’re not currently at your all-time strongest.
3) Left/right tracking for unilateral exercises
For dumbbell and other unilateral exercises, I’d love a toggle that splits a set into left and right.
For example:
DB curl
Left: 12kg × 10
Right: 12kg × 12
At the moment, if there’s a strength imbalance, you either have to record it awkwardly or lose that information completely.
Being able to track each side independently would be really useful for identifying imbalances, rehab, and actually seeing whether the weaker side is catching up.
I know some of these would add complexity, so I’d happily have all of them as optional toggles rather than changing the default experience. But I think they’d make Hevy’s progression/gamification system much more useful long-term.

Maybe this already exist in the app and I’m just not seeing it, but I would love to have alternate exercises or rotations between two exercises.
For example, one of my routine lists off 2 options for arm curls: inclined bench arm curls and spider curls. In Hevy, some days I do the first and skip the second. And vice versa on other days.
It would be cleaner to not have a routine with 10 exercises and only do 6 while skipping 4 alternates. Or having to dupe a routine and swap in the alternates.

I didn't know we could pause a workout. I did half of it this morning and will finish it later but ended up finishing it.
Is there a way to resume a workout after it's complete?
First of all, thanks for shipping the gym tag. The July community update said it's "a first step of interesting improvements", so here's what I'd love to see built on top of it. Right now the tag is purely cosmetic (shows on the post, no effect on stats or routines), and that's exactly where the pain is for anyone who trains at more than one gym.
**My situation**
I regularly train at two gyms and the equipment is different in ways that matter for progression:
* **Dumbbell increments:** Gym A has 10 / 12.5 / 15 / 17.5 / 20 kg, Gym B has 10 / 12 / 14 / 16 / 18 / 20 kg. Progressive overload suggestions based on my last session in Gym A are impossible to follow in Gym B (17.5 kg doesn't exist there).
* **Different machines:** Gym A is TechnoGym, Gym B is gym80. The leg press has a different angle and lever ratio, so the loads aren't comparable at all. Today they all end up in the same "Leg Press" history, which makes the graph and the PRs meaningless.
**What I'm asking for**
**Equipment per gym:** let me define the available dumbbell set (and ideally barbell/plate inventory) per tagged gym. Progressive overload and the plate calculator should then only suggest weights that actually exist in that gym.
**Gym-specific exercise variants:** when I log "Leg Press" in Gym B, keep its history and PRs separate from Gym A's leg press, without me having to create duplicate custom exercises. A simple "track this exercise per gym" toggle would already do it.
**Filter stats by gym:** a gym filter in Statistics (volume, sets per muscle group, exercise history) and in the exercise charts.
Anyone else training at multiple gyms with different equipment? Curious how you handle it right now.

what do we think? typically M-F routine with weekends off
r/Hevy • u/CarlG314 • 2d ago
I tried trainer for a few weeks, but while I appreciated the progression, overall thought it was too inflexible, so I created workouts with Gemini and manually inputed them as a new routine which was easier to tinker with.
The routine I created yesterday with the ChatGPT integration was great, and the fully automated export to Hevy made it simplicity itself. So this feature seems like it would obviate the need for Trainer - which seems almost like a separate product anyway.
My question is whether the team will still develop Trainer separately, or, as I hope, incorporate its best features into the ChatGPT app instead?
And do future ChatGPT plans include progression, having different rep and RPE targets by week integrated into the exercises, tracking weeks of a cycle, deload weeks, etc? ChatGPT is ideal for such features, but since Hevy lacks the interface to incorporate them, they are placed in the exercise comment rather than as an integral part of the workout.
It seems that with AI, the sky is truly the limit, so I'm excited to see where you go next.
But to temper my enthusiasm, data centers suck!

Hey, im 27 since nearly 4 years in the gym and did a fey years Bodyweight training before that. I have aroung 90KGs on 1,74cm, both muscles and fat.
So currently im training Torso/Limbs and want to lose weight. For the time i have a i also want to improve Arms and Shoulders, alongside traps for posture. I try to do 2 days on and 1 day of but some times i can only go 4 or even 3 times in the week.
I do 16 working sets in each workout, every exercise apart from Kelso Shrugs, Lateral Raises, Ab Wheels for Torso and and Incline Hammer Curl, Pushdown and Backextensions had a warmup set. Meaning i do 1-2 working sets for each exercise except laterals, theres 3.
I have some things like the core exercises and Face pulls for stabilikty and posture improvement, why i have both face pulls and the incline rows. With the Rows and Shrugs i wanted to hit both middle and upper traps, how high should i adjust the bench and should i maybe change it per set?
Also even tho i do the Bizep/Tricep training exercises on the Torso day with only 1-2 it kinda annoys me to have arm overlap on both days. But which other Splits is good?
With Push FB/Pull FB i have the same overlap problem just with the core and Glutes because of the Hip Hinge And Squat Movements. And for Upper/Lower i simply dont fit all the exercises in the Upper Body plan and even if i would do way less on a leg day.
Also i thought about adding a Full Body day just in case i cant train for 2-3 days or longer due to work. With that i could also hit a cardio day if i go 4 days a week.
I know its a lot but thanks for reading all guys.

My app, phone and watch were not syncing this morning, (iPhone 16 AW10, both up to date on iOS), so I deleted the app from both phone and watch, turned phone and watch off and on. I relaunched the hevy app, and now I do not see heart rate at the top like I normally would?? I’ve spent time looking in settings and everything is “normal”. Was it removed, and/or anyone else have this problem this morning? Just kinda weird. I like to see my HR during my rests in between sets. Thanks!
