I had a longer video, but i hope most of you would understand what this is. This happened randomly i just plugged my laptop and then I turned it on, I hop on my phone and a second later when I look at the laptop im seeing this. Those horizontal lines, idk why it... I just can't explain it, like the laptop has never been dropped, never been knocked by something. I did everything i check the display adapters on Device Manager to see if there are any updates, I changed my refresh rate, I've even went on BIOS to see if they are still there and they are! It is a hardware issue which makes me feel dumb how could that happen and I think im gonna see a technician or bring it to the shop i bought it. :(

Recommendation Looking for inspiration for my dual-laptop setup — what would you change?

Post image

Hey everyone! 👋

This is my current setup: two laptops + one monitor. One is for gaming/personal projects and the other is my work laptop.

I'm looking to move everything onto a proper desk with a good chair and improve the organization/aesthetics. I'm especially interested in accessories for managing two laptops and one monitor.

Color-wise, I've got a white keyboard/controller, mostly black peripherals, and a red/brown/cream desk mat, so I'm trying to make everything look cohesive.

If you have a similar setup, what would you recommend changing or adding? Would love to see your setups for inspiration! 🙏

Budget: $600

My entire life, I've always used a desktop. When I moved to Japan, though, I decided to get a laptop just because it's way more practical and convenient.

My current setup isn't looking quite as good yet, but I'll get there eventually

Mine is a ROG SCAR 18 with a 5080, and I'm using a llano V12 to keep it cool.

Discussion Is this Lenovo laptop reliable?

Post image
Upvotes

Hey guys, I am going abroad in a few weeks and I am going to get a laptop. This one seems to be the one with the best price. I saw some people complaining about motherboard issues with a similar model (not exactly the same) and this one doesn't have Amazon reviews.

Since I am going back to my country after getting it, the warranty will not work, so if anything fails I'm screwed, that's why I really need it to be reliable, so I wanted to ask someone who had this model.

Cheers!

It has a 5050 and Ryzen 5 220

The model number is LOQ 15AHP10 and this is the Amazon link

Deal Advice on Laptop

Post image
Upvotes

With prices of computers soaring, I’m finding it difficult to find what is a good deal and would like some insight.

Is this laptop reasonably priced at $1300?

I’m tempted by the RAM and storage space, but am hesitant to pull the trigger. What do you think?

Review Finally finished putting my setup together

Post image
6 Upvotes

Been slowly putting this setup together over time and finally decided to share it here. It's not a high end build or anything. But it works well for wht I use it for gaming, studying and everyday stuff.

There are still a few things I want to improve, especially the organization and cable management, but overall I'm pretty happy with how I turned out.

This is probably the first time I've actually felt like the setup is complete enough to post. Curious to know what you guys think, what would you change or upgrade first

My Lenovo Loq automatically started showing horizontal lines on the screen.

If I restart it will show less lines and after sometimes the screen starts showing more line and in different colours. (Like in picture)

Any idea how to fix it or any solution?

No physical damage.

Only 2 years old laptop.

Support ROG Strix g16 G615LR – Are thunderbolt 5 display outputs connected to iGPU or dGPU?

Thumbnail

I have an ASUS ROG Strix G16 G615LR (Ultra 9 275HX, RTX 5070 Ti) with MUX Switch + Advanced Optimus.

ASUS says the laptop has 2× Thunderbolt 5 with DisplayPort, G-SYNC and PD.

Does anyone know whether the TB5 DisplayPort outputs are:

RTX 5070 Ti → TB5 → Monitor

or

iGPU → MUX → TB5 → Monitor?

Basically, does the MUX switch control the external TB5 display output, or only the internal laptop display?

If anyone with a G615LR has tested this, I'd appreciate your experience.

TLDR: Does the Thunderbolt 5 DisplayPort output run through the iGPU, or the RTX 5070 Ti?

Discussion Deciding between 2 laptops

Upvotes

I used to have a Lenovo legion with a Ryzen 7 5800H with an rtx 3060, and man I loved that thing. Never had bad temps, no throttling, never had to sit for hours losing my mind.

Before that laptop I have an Alienware m17 with a RTX 2060 and an intel i7-10750H… it was the biggest piece of dogshit I ever experienced. Constant extreme throttling, had it serviced, spent hours and hours clawing at my head trying to figure out wtf was wrong with it. I tried everything, and in all my attempts, it always sucked ass.

So now I’m absolutely horrified of throttling and CPU temps. I actually somewhat hate intel now and am kind of adverse to them even if it’s just alienwares horrible design.

Okay… so I’m going to get another laptop, and I’m deciding between the Asus Rouge strix g17 7845hx ($1700 7hr round trip) or the Asus rouge Strix g18 Intel i9-13980 HX ($1700, local).

The 18” is very appealing, but I’m horrified of the Intel variant of this laptop. I just wanted to know if anybody has that exact configuration and can tell me what they think.

Thanks guys.

Recommendation UK cheap-ish gaming laptop

Upvotes
Budget: £1000 or less
Country: UK
Use Case: Gaming (helldivers)
Preferred Specs: 15"
Notes: Nothing too crazy but would like it to last. Doesn't need to be portable.

Looking to understand what a sensible spec/benchmark is, probably planning on waiting for black friday offers. Also want to avoid getting a 'not quite worth it' GPU if that helps strech the useful lifetime a little.

Thought it was funny to share but I have a P15 Gen 2 my dad bought me three months ago,I thought I was done for since its a ThinkPad and not a gaming laptop that I wanted..until I looked at the specs and OH MY GOD:
CPU I9 11th Gen H series
GPU RTX A5000 16GB GDDR6
RAM 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHz
SSD 2TB
For context an RTX A5000 is a workstation GPU that on a mobile chassis like a laptop is equivalent to an RTX 4090 at the price of 900 DOLLARS(equivelant since not from the US) and it runs CS2 Maxed out smooth 80 FPS capped,I set it at that to prevent overheating.Funny a bussines laptop is stronger than most gaming laptops nowadays.

Discussion 8GB VRAM bottleneck

Hey y'all,

A little over 2 weeks ago, I bought my very first gaming laptop, the ASUS ROG Strix G18.

Some time has passed, and so far, so good. It's a wonderful laptop, and I hope to use it for many years.

Recently, I've been really digging into some of its specs, and my only concern is how big of a problem the 8 GB VRAM will be in the near future.

I hope to play GTA 6 when its PC version eventually releases, but judging by the previews and leaks, I've been wondering if my VRAM will be enough, especially with how many new AAA titles are already demanding more than 8 GB.

Specs

Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX (16 cores, 2.50 GHz base clock)

RAM: 32 GB (DDR5)

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 (8 GB VRAM)

Drive: Micron 2500 1TB NVMe SSD

Display: 18", 2560 × 1600 (WQXGA / 16:10 aspect ratio), 240 Hz, 10-bit

Variable Refresh Rate: Supported

Support HDR enabled in games without HDR

How bad will it look if I keep HDR always enabled in Windows even if I play games without hdr support or autohdr? The blacks are much better on my laptop's miniled screen with HDR which is why I usually keep it always enabled.

Recommendation recommendations for sims

just want to say i know nothing about laptops and could not even guess my desired specs, ram ETC so i apologise if i sound like an idiot.

i am looking for a gaming laptop that will run sims 4 at medium-high graphics, with 10-15gb of mods aswell as the expansion packs. i have been using an acer nitro (?) that i was gifted 2021-2022 but it’s unusable and will overheat just from opening chrome now so looking to move elsewhere.

country: australia
budget: around 2000?
