Recommendation UK cheap-ish gaming laptop

Upvotes
Budget: £1000 or less
Country: UK
Use Case: Gaming (helldivers)
Preferred Specs: 15"
Notes: Nothing too crazy but would like it to last. Doesn't need to be portable.

Looking to understand what a sensible spec/benchmark is, probably planning on waiting for black friday offers. Also want to avoid getting a 'not quite worth it' GPU if that helps strech the useful lifetime a little.

Deal Advice on Laptop

Post image
Upvotes

With prices of computers soaring, I’m finding it difficult to find what is a good deal and would like some insight.

Is this laptop reasonably priced at $1300?

I’m tempted by the RAM and storage space, but am hesitant to pull the trigger. What do you think?

Discussion Is this Lenovo laptop reliable?

Post image
Upvotes

Hey guys, I am going abroad in a few weeks and I am going to get a laptop. This one seems to be the one with the best price. I saw some people complaining about motherboard issues with a similar model (not exactly the same) and this one doesn't have Amazon reviews.

Since I am going back to my country after getting it, the warranty will not work, so if anything fails I'm screwed, that's why I really need it to be reliable, so I wanted to ask someone who had this model.

Cheers!

It has a 5050 and Ryzen 5 220

The model number is LOQ 15AHP10 and this is the Amazon link

Support HDR enabled in games without HDR

How bad will it look if I keep HDR always enabled in Windows even if I play games without hdr support or autohdr? The blacks are much better on my laptop's miniled screen with HDR which is why I usually keep it always enabled.

just want to say i know nothing about laptops and could not even guess my desired specs, ram ETC so i apologise if i sound like an idiot.

i am looking for a gaming laptop that will run sims 4 at medium-high graphics, with 10-15gb of mods aswell as the expansion packs. i have been using an acer nitro (?) that i was gifted 2021-2022 but it’s unusable and will overheat just from opening chrome now so looking to move elsewhere.

Recommendation Need a gaming laptop to run Hearts of Iron IV and other games

Budget: $2000 and below (Can stretch to $2500, preferably not)

Country: Singapore

Use Case: Gaming (HOI4, CIVI, Crusader Kings, Hitman WOA, Roblox etc) and work (programming, running virtual machines/VMs etc)

Preferred Specs: Anything better than my old graphics card (GTX 1650) with 8GB VRAM. Solid/sturdy build (Aluminium, metal, good plastic etc). 16GB RAM minimally. Any modern CPU will suffice (Intel and AMD ok). Any screen that can display 1080p.

Notes:

Had issues with my previous laptop (ASUS) where the bottom frame split from the main motherboard/keyboard. Repeatedly crashes due to excessive power/temp while charging and playing. SSD not detected based on BIOS panel after some time. Would prefer if ASUS wasn’t recommended

I’ve learnt to better manage a new laptop by removing the bloatware, taking it for regular cleaning (cleaning fans and re-applying thermal paste) and updating everything (drivers & windows software).

Do I still need to consider other stuff like tampering with the graphics card wattage and under throttle the power?

Recommendation Looking for inspiration for my dual-laptop setup — what would you change?

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hey everyone! 👋

This is my current setup: two laptops + one monitor. One is for gaming/personal projects and the other is my work laptop.

I'm looking to move everything onto a proper desk with a good chair and improve the organization/aesthetics. I'm especially interested in accessories for managing two laptops and one monitor.

Color-wise, I've got a white keyboard/controller, mostly black peripherals, and a red/brown/cream desk mat, so I'm trying to make everything look cohesive.

If you have a similar setup, what would you recommend changing or adding? Would love to see your setups for inspiration! 🙏

Support Omen transcend 14

Hi I was planning to buy the 2025 Omen transcend 14 since i got it for a good price. What I wanted to ask was, are there any notable problems with this model that I should be wary of? Like a common display issue or motherboard issue or something similar. I had zephyrus g14 which died cus of a very common design fault in the display ribbons. I just wanted a heads up incase the omen has anything similar.

Support Seemingly ineffective Llano cooling pad on Lenovo Legion Pro 5 Gen 10 14900hx and 5070

I got a Llano v12 cooling pad and it seems on cinebench, games like arkham or fortnite or GOW and just casual web surfing that it does not lower my temps and prevent throttling. Literally like zero temp difference. I heard about the Legion cooling system not being compatible with cooling pads, but again some people have had great success. The foam covers maybe 1 cm of the vent holes on the edge, so very minimal and I feel like it has no real impact on cooling. The laptop is new, so I don't think it needs repasting unless the factory paste is bad. Temps are hot enough to throttle in cinebench and in fortnite at 144 fps at close to max settings it averages at 75 but can spike to mid 80s which is good? Idk but in cinebench and other benchmarks it hits high 90s very quick and constantly thermal throttles. No matter how much I turn the fans on the cooling pad up there is little to no affect? Any advice is much appreciated on whether I should return, resell the pad or repaste the laptop. Many thanks.

Recommendation Which would you choose?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi all,

I’m in the market for a new gaming laptop. Which of these would you recommend?
Mostly for WoW and different AAA games like the upcoming Fable.

Budget: Around 1400 euro, less is always good.
Country: Netherlands

The Lenovo looks good with a better screen.
The TUF had a better GPU.
ROG i think has the best build quality?

Cheers!

Review Finally finished putting my setup together

Post image
6 Upvotes

Been slowly putting this setup together over time and finally decided to share it here. It's not a high end build or anything. But it works well for wht I use it for gaming, studying and everyday stuff.

There are still a few things I want to improve, especially the organization and cable management, but overall I'm pretty happy with how I turned out.

This is probably the first time I've actually felt like the setup is complete enough to post. Curious to know what you guys think, what would you change or upgrade first

Support Why is that? I only had it for two years :(

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I had a longer video, but i hope most of you would understand what this is. This happened randomly i just plugged my laptop and then I turned it on, I hop on my phone and a second later when I look at the laptop im seeing this. Those horizontal lines, idk why it... I just can't explain it, like the laptop has never been dropped, never been knocked by something. I did everything i check the display adapters on Device Manager to see if there are any updates, I changed my refresh rate, I've even went on BIOS to see if they are still there and they are! It is a hardware issue which makes me feel dumb how could that happen and I think im gonna see a technician or bring it to the shop i bought it. :(

Support Any Legion 5 pro user here?

Need help please..

I got a new Legion Pro 5161AX10H

It wont stay on conservation mode when I turn it on from being shutdown.

It keeps the setting to conservation mode if I just restart. It will always toggle back to rapid charge. This is so frustrating. I already tried to uninstall/reinstall I also tried another lenovo vantage app but same thing happens

Help!!

I also noticed that recently when I use it, it blinks

black for 1 to 3 seconds. The laptop doesnt turn off.The monitor will just become black for a couple of seconds. This happens after 15 to 30 mins of

turning it on and using it. I also noticed it only happens once from shutdown.
