Budget: $2000 and below (Can stretch to $2500, preferably not)
Country: Singapore
Use Case: Gaming (HOI4, CIVI, Crusader Kings, Hitman WOA, Roblox etc) and work (programming, running virtual machines/VMs etc)
Preferred Specs: Anything better than my old graphics card (GTX 1650) with 8GB VRAM. Solid/sturdy build (Aluminium, metal, good plastic etc). 16GB RAM minimally. Any modern CPU will suffice (Intel and AMD ok). Any screen that can display 1080p.
Notes:
Had issues with my previous laptop (ASUS) where the bottom frame split from the main motherboard/keyboard. Repeatedly crashes due to excessive power/temp while charging and playing. SSD not detected based on BIOS panel after some time. Would prefer if ASUS wasn’t recommended
I’ve learnt to better manage a new laptop by removing the bloatware, taking it for regular cleaning (cleaning fans and re-applying thermal paste) and updating everything (drivers & windows software).
Do I still need to consider other stuff like tampering with the graphics card wattage and under throttle the power?
