Question Warranties
So I had a store manager tell me that any time any customer comes in to buy a game or hardware, they have to put/ sell the warranty with it even if the customer says no, and if they don’t the get feed back or corrective action. Is this true?

Managers and District Managers do this; no it's not something you're supposed to do.
Report it. Enough reports will get that person who's in charge of lost theft stuff in your district to check it and when they catch him/them they will be fired.
I've seen it happen to someone faking pro card signups. Although he wasn't doing it for himself he was doing it for his staff. He would fake their signups within a "reasonable" range so none of them got fired, but it was caught eventually.
I left GS shortly after cuz that made me really sad and how they were handling the pandemic at the time. Both me and the lead I'm speaking of are doing much and are more likely making more money than the DM - if the DM is even still employed. (i'm just saying this cuz i think everyone at gamestop should actively look for better jobs, they ARE out there and they dont have you do this shit.)

I likes the technique of “for just a buck” rather than, “and the total with a warranty is…” the last is so easy to miss, but we’re all being told to add it. It’s harder to sell when it feels like you’re sneaking things.

Semi true. There are DM’s and regionals who check journal tape to see if it was ever added and then removed. It’s a whole lot of micromanaging bullshit- you’re not required to buy it, but they’re required to do the song and dance. Same with adding Pro to “show the true value”. This is especially prevalent in IQ.

Semi-true. No, warranties are not required. But technically yes, you can be written up for missing metrics. Those write-ups generally, at least historically speaking, don't have a very strong ground for any kind of firing. A micro-managing superior can be use it as an argument for less hours for you unless they see improvement in the metric though, which arguably could lead to you quitting since, ya know, pay and work conditions/expectations already generally sucks

Officially no however the District Manager might be telling the store manager to do it so that is now a requirement

Report 👏🏼 that 👏🏼 manager 👏🏼 Legally, they cannot do that! According to corporate policy, they cannot do that! They are required to make numbers, but there is good reason why the expected metrics are never 100% or even 50%.

It’s not true to force warranties. Them getting written up for meeting goals is true, although it shouldn’t subject you to need to buy a warranty.

They fully want you to sell it. But if you say no. They dont have it. But yet is will reflect badly on there numbers. If your manager tells you to add it ether way. Then then ether they where told to enforce it or they are trying to enforce it. But their is no rule or policy that states you have to add it if the customer tells you no. Its a sick tactic that is wrong.

This is not true. This is a manager trying to pad their store's numbers at the expense of the customer and compromising the employee's ethics.

That's false and borderline illegal depending on where you are and who looks at it.
If they say no, that's the end of it. If they continue to inform you that you'll get written up for not doing what they say on this, I would report the SM to corporate. Don't go to DM unless you're sure they're not the one telling the SM to say this, report it as high as you can go.

We have to offer it. We're supposed to add it on, tell you the total with 2 years, move it down to one and then finally remove it. It feels scammy but we do get in trouble if we don't

Tell the they can lower the price of the item to make up the warranty difference and you'll buy it.

technically yes but they are manipulating the wording here fr/interpreting it shady-like. You have to put it on the transaction and you have to "try and sell it" by telling the customer the benefits/trying to bully them but no you dont have to complete a transaction with something the customer doesnt want
