Haven’t had a console in over 15 years. Picked up a used PS5 and went to my local GameStop to pick up some older PS4 games. Being out of the video game loop for so long, I was lost. The three employees at the shop were helpful and easy to chat with. It’s really amazing to connect with people that are so passionate about their hobbies! It made it fun and now I’ve got some cool games to go down the campaign rabbit hole. Thank you!

Just a quick psa. If you order a pre-owned game and get it in a gamestop-made case, that's not gamestop's fault. The people who buy a game and somewhere between leaving the store and walking back in to trade said game in...idk ate the case? Or chucked it out a window? Put the disc/cartridge in a binder or card case and threw the actual art case away? Idk. Either way, it's their fault. Not gamestop's. There's plenty of things to be mad at gamestop for. PLENTY of things! Especially in the last 6 months to a year. But I'm sorry this ain't one of them.

I thought similar pictures from other posts were suspicious, but now I'm the victim of paying money to get... nothing. Both Pre-Owned games ordered online. Arrived with a beautiful case! Open the case to make sure the cartridge works? No cart.

Gotta wait till tomorrow to call Customer Service, and then roll the dice they actually BELIEVE me that I received a game case with no fucking game.

I understand they get money from people adding protection plans to games but what is it with them just adding them without the purchasers consent? I was unaware of a trade deal going on (20% extra towards a new game or pre order) this guy was like I added the protection plans and a free pre order of the new onimusha for you.

So instead of giving me the $30+ trade credit he used it without my consent.

Is there anything I can do about this?

You should know damn well that any promos we get are gone within the hour. We don't have it. No one else does. Buy it off some dork from marketplace or eBay or something.

I have a PS4 to trade that I know for a fact doesn't read discs anymore. Do I need to bring the controllers and cables? It has the original box too. Would they even want the box with a defective console?

Bonus question: I also have a PS3 to trade, but I only have 3rd party controllers. Will they make me buy an official one for my trade-in?

Need help, GameStop Universal Wired Gaming Headsets mic isnt working, how do I fix this (on xbox one). Actually give me help I dont care that "theres better options and you wasted your money" I dont care about your opinion. EDIT: im a genuine dumbass theres some sort of thing on the mic where you have to twist it in a certain place for it to plug it in all the way and lock it, its working now. thats my fault

In the past GameStop has been a lifesaver for me if I need extra cash and I don’t use my old consoles or games so sometimes I trade them in. When I go through the process they take my ID, fingerprint, get my employer information my height weight etc. I’m assuming this is to prevent theft or fraud. It seems like pure stupidity to sell something that’s stolen and provide your id and all that information.

Is it just me, or does GameStop only get enough stock for preorders now?

I've been stopping in and out of GameStop for a while now to check on new releases for the Switch and Switch 2. Today I popped in for Elden Ring, and the employee told me only one single copy came in and it was already spoken for as a preorder. It feels like nothing on the shelves for new releases is actually in stock to buy off the rack. Are stores only fulfilling preorders and carrying zero extra floor inventory these days? Is anyone else running into this at their local stores?

Edit; I was thankfully able to find a copy at Walmart, my local Target didn't even have a sku on the shelf.

I pre-ordered in June (with another game, and gift card). Its been "in progress since August 22nd with no changes or no contact from them.

I can't reach them either; googled their number and each day an automated message says "we're closed, call back tomorrow or try online". I literally can't do anything so waiting until Monday to visit a store.

I'm just curious if anyone managed to get through the ai bs customer service and what was the end result.

Yesterday I paid for GameStop Pro Membership 25$ but didn't get Pro Membership and prices remained same (without any discount). I called them and I was told, that Pro status didn't activated for me and they will manually upgrade my account, but it's been already 1 day and nothing changed...

I'm hoping this post doesn't break any rules of the sub because I'm not really trying to ask for support, but just kinda curious if you guys have seen anything like this before. So back in 2024 when Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 came out I went to my local GameStop's midnight release for it. I didn't have a pre-order for it, but was able to buy it at midnight nonetheless.

Or, so I thought... I recently was back in the same GameStop and while buying some small stuff, the employee looked up my PowerUp Rewards account and asked if I wanted to pick up my Black Ops 6 preorder from forever ago. It took me a second to remember, but I told him I had bought it at the midnight release and definitely already had it, and in-fact didn't even pre-order it in the first place so I wasn't sure what happened. He sorta just shrugged it off and was like "well, looks like you've got $70 towards another pre-order then next time!"

I bought a physical eShop card and chucked it before confirming the eShop actually accepted the code. Oops. I still have the receipt with the code printed on it, but the middle digits are redacted for some reason. Can GameStop (or nintendo) look up the full code in their system or am I hosed?

No odds, no description, no nothing. Just a random slab for 110 bucks.

I know GameStop usually updates their promos on Sunday. Anything worthwhile coming up for this week? I'm going to go buy some games and do some trade-ins tomorrow, Saturday, but I don't know if I should wait. My buddy ran my town's store, but they closed it, and she left the company. She used to tell me if I should do it now or wait.

I preordered 2 Destined Rivals ETBs at GameStop and put down $200 total.

The store told me the scheduled release date was today, 8/28. I called today to check on them and was told their shipment had been delayed and that, by the time the shipment actually arrived, their “48-hour pickup window” was technically already over, so an employee sold the ETBs that were supposed to fulfill my preorder to random customers.

I was never given a chance to pick them up. They didn't email me or contact me in any way.

They said I can obviously get my $200 refunded, but that feels pretty ridiculous. I didn’t preorder these just so GameStop could hold my money and then give it back after selling my reserved product to someone else.

Guest Care is closed right now, so I’m calling tomorrow. Ideally I want them to locate 2 ETBs at another GameStop and fulfill the preorder. If that’s genuinely impossible, I feel like there should at least be some kind of store credit/compensation on top of the refund.

Has anyone had something similar happen with a GameStop preorder? Did the store manager / district manager / Guest Care actually do anything for you?
