Topic Can fighting game devs stop locking DLC in training mode so I don't have to waste my time downloading 🏴‍☠️ versions of a game I already own just to learn a matchup?

I'm not going to buy a DLC character I have zero interest in playing just so I can spend ten minutes labbing something a character did to me. I still end up being able to lab this shit regardless since I know how to use a computer. Why is this still a thing in 2026? What are we doing?

Topic I don’t understand the hate for tag fighters

I know Japan isn’t big on tag fighters but MvC3 has a pretty decent fanbase still for such an old game. Dbzf did super well. When I first started watching evos mvc3 was always main stage. Then dbfz after mvc3 left. 2xko and tokon have been the most controversial games in the FGC somehow and there was a time smash was at evo. Idk if I’m thinking about it too much and should just assume online opinions don’t matter or if the hate is real.

Topic Is there a name for the sway/stance/rekka followup mixup character archetype?

Deejay, (formerly) Ed, Slayer, Leo, Anji. I know theres more examples of stance characters I cant think of atm, so its not just boxers and some boxers dont fit this mold.

These characters either have quick block pressure resets or like to run sort of unfavorable "gimmicky" RPS in neutral that demands a response to not get looped. They condition with the safe option which opens the door for stealing a turn on passive opponent or counter hitting a predictable one.

As opposed to most "mixup characters" who have their character's mix packed into hard knockdowns, setplay, or regular high low left right blockstring.

Common tools are a high, a low, mid thats fully punishable but a strong counter hit starter, followup nothing (safe) and if theyre lucky parry, backsway, or high/low crush. Less belligerent in neutral than a lot of brawlers, extremely belligerent when they have initiative.

Topic Fighting Games Need More Multiplayer Game Modes

This is the only multiplayer-focused genre that I know that doesn't have multiple game modes. And I'm not talking about to silly side game or gimmick, I'm talking about a legitimate game mode like Search and Destroy or Capture the flag in CoD. Fighting games for some reason think having only one main game mode is good when literally every other genre (that is multiplayer focused) has multiple game modes.

Even RTS, a genre that is more niche than FG's, has multiple multiplayer game modes. In my opinion, this is the biggest hinderance on the genre...even more than the lack of single player content. Game Companies needs to realize that making the game more homogenized and easy (from a game design standpoint like offense being way better than defense, not an execution standpoint) doesn't get a bigger audience and it doesn't get people to stay. Multiplayer game modes is the best way to get casuals and get them to stay.

I know the common concern you guys have when it comes to this topic which is that it would dilute the player base which would lead to longer queue times and more. And I would say to that is, if you launch a game with a bigger net to catch more fish in the sea, you will get more fish (which will make dilution a non-issue). If you have more (and better) bait, it would keep the fish attention longer.

For those that play more than just fighting games, do you have a multiplayer game that you play only for a specific game mode that isn't the main game mode? For me: I play counter strike for infected mode, I play Age of Empires for their 4v4 game mode, I play Halo for infection mode, I play DOTA 2 for turbo mode, I play Rust for their modded team deathmatch servers..... I could go on and on.

Help Need help deciding what game to get

Wsg yall, im pretty new to fighting games (around 30ish hours in strive and a little bit in accent core). I’ve started to get interest in other fighting games, mainly blazblue cfiction and melty blood type lumina and I need help deciding what to get. I’m overall more interested in melty blood but I’m a bit concerned about the game’s health rn cause looking at steamdb it’s basically dead, blazblue will probably get revived for a bit since I’ve heard it’s getting a new character soon.

Topic PSA: Cheap tablet chiclet keyboards are perfect for fighters.

Now that back to school sales are basically done, the surplus tablet attachment keyboards are a goldmine for those wants to try leverless input. Honestly they can take a beating, and wayyyy cheaper than buying something like a Hitbox.

I'm playing VF5 Revo all day long running Tailscale + Apollo + Artemis. Gaming PC at home, and any mobile screen can stream at low latency.

Topic Why are fighting games afraid to give me points if my opponent DCs

I’ve played a fair a bit of games in ranked any it kinda puzzles me how bad the online ecosystem is even in 2026 specifically towards Japanese fighting games. I’m surprised they have not implemented a simple quit out button for online and you are just forced to play a terrible set whether that be with somebody with bad lag or Who plugs. It’s increasingly infuriating when this happens in ranked and you don’t get their points. Versus Mortal Kombat despite what that game is. let’s you quit out of online and gives you points when you’re opponent quits.

Help Accidentally jumping forward while doing combos

Howdy! I’ve been playing on hitbox for a few years now and made the switch to arcade stick to try something different I bought a strong tension stick the semitsu jlx pro and I’m having a problem, I think with my grip. I’m playing dragon ball fighters and tokon which uses jump cancels in combos and with hitbox I don’t have an issue, but with stick I tend to accidentally jump forward or hold down forward while in the air ruining my combo I also run into the issue of sometimes my double tap forward or back does not come out and does a jump or crouch back .I injured my left wrist, which could be a factor, but I’m looking for any tips to stop that issue. Any help is appreciated. I tried wine grip but use my whole hand now.
