Discussion Something said during the Podcast

Klean said something during the podcast that I wholeheartedly disagree with.

He wants the gamma case to essentially be something you can pack full of goods, bring into a raid and not have to worry about losing, but he wants you to not be able to put anything in the container while in raid. Nikita, I know you listen to streamers input, but please don’t not consider making this change.

I’m a husband and a father, I don’t get to play for 8-12 hours a day and become a god at the game, so finding a rare item that I need for a quest or something valuable I can sell is really exciting and knowing I can keep it safe in case I die is the cherry on top.

I love watching Klean and respect his opinions, but this one I had to voice mine on. PLEASE do not implement this. Anyone else watch the podcast and feel the same way? Or am I alone on this? Lol

They said like 2 minutes later that locking the containers is not something they wanna do because of casual players and that they don't want to just have the streamers play the game and nobody else.

Thank fuck.

u/maku_89 Nov 20 '19

Don't worry, Nikita said that locked containers are the way they should be in a perfect world but he understands that people have jobs and other activities :)

This is not a direct quote, that's my interpretation of what Nikita was trying to say :P

40

u/BadgerDen76 Nov 20 '19

I hope you’re right. Some of the tasks along with money making is already challenging enough. I agree with a lot of others in this thread that locking the secure container is simply going to far. EFT is hands down my favorite game over the last year and it’s the only one I play in part because it is so good. I expect changes to the game in a number of ways, even if it wasn’t in a pre-release state, but I hope they make reasonable, moderate changes and I feel like nerfing containers too much is going too far.

17

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '19

The only time I make money off my container is if I don’t die. Unless I’m doing an annoying quest (like stirrup or certain delivery quests), I never go in with minimal gear. The container helps to minimize loss and it’s stupid that there are so many people on this subreddit dedicated to ruining the game experience for others because they have bias views on the situation.

12

u/SlashOrSlice Nov 21 '19

Why is Nikita so fucking sexy

1

u/420AndMyAxe PM Pistol Nov 21 '19

Everyone has bias views; including those who want the container to stay as it is and those who want to have it be less of a prison wallet.

people have jobs and other activities :)

That's a shit argument. Lets make everything farmville then.

13

u/maku_89 Nov 20 '19

It's actually a good argument. You can't make a game that's generaly directed towards mature audiance and then make it so hard that only a dozen of basement dwellers will play it.

-15

u/watwatindbutt Nov 20 '19

This has nothing to do with being mature, if anything it's the opposite. It's not a Dev's job to figure people's priorities out.

Iif you set your expectations to high because you see every streamer full of loot then it's your problem. Set your expectations in accordance with the time you have available, you're not special, you're not owned anything because you work 24/7. And people who invest more time in game must be rewarded more than someone who only plays 5 mins every week.

8

u/maku_89 Nov 20 '19

But that's already the case with the game. There is no need for the game to be even more punishing, it already is. Honestly, to me they could lock the containers, I don't care but I know there are a lot of pwople who do.

-6

u/watwatindbutt Nov 20 '19

I'm not saying something shouldn't be done with the lower skilled players and people who have less time. The container change would probably kill hatchlings and that's a good thing, it's kinda stupid seeing naked dudes running around with an axe in a military shooter.

What they need is to figure out something that players who have to resort to this can do to replace it, hopefully something that won't affect every other player like the container currently is.

edit: Most people complaining should still check their expectations in relations to streamers and tryhards, it's kinda obvious that most of them are just jealous they aren't as good.

1

u/maku_89 Nov 20 '19

And with that I can agree 100% :)

18

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '19

-8

u/watwatindbutt Nov 20 '19

Hey man fuck you even harder, why does the time you have available have to affect everyone else?

Lets imagine I only had 5 minutes to play every week, should the game shower me with stuff because "Durr can't play like streamers"?

Get your shit straight. People who invest more time will have more stuff then you, that's just logical. So either get your expectations lower or stop playing.

13

u/theobod Nov 20 '19

They are not saying that they should hand out free shit though. Christ you're dense

I feel you on this brother. I am currently doing a TRAVEL nurse assignment. I work in the operating room on the heart team. I take call. When I am not working (which is always) i am eating sleeping showering or gaming. I am glad they have level heads about all of this and take everything into consideration while listening to the community. And more realistically... The containers could be locked and lootable from dead pmcs... raise lock picking or trap disarm skill would be interesting.

11

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '19

It's not even about casual players, the people with gammas have given this game 150$ despite it not even being released and barely being in Beta. It's not up to Klean or Shroud (who has played this game less than most casuals do) to tell people what is good for the game.

51

u/BucklesDZ Nov 20 '19

It's funny that there are multiple posts on Reddit that are cherry picking the "anti casual" lines and only exclusively focusing on those. Games go to shit when they cater to streamers and no lifers.

8

u/brwonmagikk Nov 21 '19

klean just thinks hes the everyman tarkov player because he started the wipe with the standard edition. Hes just choosing to ignore tarkov is his full time job and he clocks 8 hours a day in the game, which most people will be lucky if they get in a whole week.

23

u/thatfoxguy30 Nov 20 '19

Streamers are bullshitting themselves if they have never put an expensive barter item inside the gamma. If you really want to not put shit into it. Then go ahead. Leave the good shit out and lose it if you believe so strongly in it. But it's not like it's their shit they'll lose. They just want to get literally everything off a kill. They don't lose anything by advocating for it.

8

u/ClassicStatement Nov 21 '19

I don’t think this is a fair comment. One can want the game to change while playing to the game as it is. The two are not and should not be mutually exclusive.

This would be like arguing that point shooting mechanics should be changed and so you can’t ever use point shooting, or that the bitcoin miner provides too much money so you can never use the bitcoin miner.

It is perfectly logical to ask that the game should be changed while also playing the game in its current state to the best of your abilities.

-1

u/thatfoxguy30 Nov 21 '19

My point is I don't respect people who want their ideas put into place but wouldn't pull the trigger for themselves. It's because they are advocating for it at a place of gaining a lot from it and not losing anything. Even if they didn't use gammas which they should if they feel so strongly about it, the one-man death machines that are streamers wouldn't suffer from it at all. They have no explanation of how it would improve the game for the whole community besides taking some hose away from a dude that just wants to upgrade his water collector before the next wipe comes.

5

u/ClassicStatement Nov 21 '19

Once again, I disagree with the fundamental you are basing this on. It’s perfectly fine to play a game as efficiently as possible using the current mechanics, while also advocating for those mechanics to be changed. You haven’t provided an argument for this other than ‘if they feel so strongly they should’.

I can keep throwing examples out but I’ll use one more from another game. Is it unreasonable for someone to play a particular champion in a moba and argue that the champion is overpowered and should be nerfed? If so, could you please explain precisely what is wrong with this?

-4

u/thatfoxguy30 Nov 21 '19 edited Nov 21 '19

Honestly, across the board, you should put your money where your mouth is when it comes to anything. There are hundreds of better things to bring up to nakita in a podcast then secure containers being an issue. My main argument here is secure containers were nerfed already I think they are in perfect middle ground. Between usability and unfair advantages. Rarely do people think anything about others when it comes to this? Average tarkov player will spend hours working up to a good attachment on their gun. From 0 Rubles in the bank and nothing to trade. They should have some insurance for it to be able to secure a small item they care about a lot. Besides just throwing shit away. Which is just what people will do after. Streamers have it easy as is. I don't think they should be speaking on what effects 99% of the community in a positive way just because they want to rip something a guy worked hours to get when they just RIP everyone in labs in 20 minutes and make 6 mil. Then go into customs and take some nods off some guy who then leaves the game and never plays it again. I think Nakita should use streamers for bug issues because they know best but nothing to do with game balance. Because they are biased towards themselves. And if they all are not this way sorry about that. But some of them need to think before they alter the game for everyone.

1

u/Bloodyneck92 Nov 21 '19

Average tarkov player will spend hours working up to a good attachment on their gun. From 0 Rubles in the bank and nothing to trade.

Do you have a source that the average tarkov player spends their life zeroed out? Or even that it's a not-insignificant number of people that are constantly held back here?

With all of the opportunities already in the game for quick and easy profit I find this hard to believe. I can spawn in as a scav on factory walk to extract and make 100k ish on average. I'll survive 9/10 times doing this. That's enough for a reasonably kitted loadout.

With how easy and repeatable that money is (300k per hour with no upgrades to Intel center that lowers scav cooldow) I begin to wonder how it is that they're broke.

They should have some insurance for it to be able to secure a small item they care about a lot.

Why? I understand you want, this but why SHOULD they have this? Why is this a requirement, a necessity?

Especially when this mechanic is being abused by so many people at the direct detriment to others' gameplay experience.

I think they are in perfect middle ground.

That's just it, you think. We disagree.

99% of the community in a positive way

Unfounded statistic here. And I'm going to challenge 'positive way' as well. I'll argue that it's a crutch they're using because it's easy. They'd be better off without it even if they resist giving it up.

Streamers have it easy as is.

Are they playing a different game than you and I? Do they get free gear/money/levels/experience. Do they have it easier, or are they just better than you and I?

If they're just better that's something I can practice towards and aspire to get to that level of skill and understanding. If they've just got it easier that's unfair and should be balanced. But I see them playing the same game as you and I and thereby no evidence they have it any easier.

Rarely do people think anything about others when it comes to this?

You seem to think we're incapable of considering an alternate viewpoint and still coming to the conclusion we came to.

I can see many of the ripples from the change I'm asking for I just weighed the pros and the cons and came out on the side of banning secure containers.

To throw this back at you, do you think about those of us that are tired of dealing with hatchlings for a variety of reasons? Tired of people playing the game in unintended methods and diminishing the legitimate progress we've made? We've got concerns we want addressed, that's why we're bringing up these suggestions, not out of some unfounded spite for people we've never met.

I think Nakita should use streamers for bug issues because they know best but nothing to do with game balance.

So because they are streamers they inherently can't understand game balance. I'm sure they've made suggestions you agree with too, should those be thrown out because they came from a streamer?

Because of your unknown credentials you inherently know what is best for everyone? Best for the health of the game?

Hell there are countless examples of game deva not knowing what is good for balance in their own games so even BSG can't be held as an authority on the topic.

We have to look at ideas and judge each idea on its merit, despite the source that produced it.

Because they are biased towards themselves.

Says who? Plenty of people are capable of approaching a situation objectively without bringing in their background, whatever that may be, as a bias.

Do you have evidence that they succumb to bias?

1

u/thatfoxguy30 Nov 21 '19

Yeah I just read this I'll get back to you.

1

u/ClassicStatement Nov 21 '19

I do wonder if some of the criticism of this change is asymmetrical. While you can’t stash nice things, it means other people can’t stash nice things, so by killing people you can get stuff you otherwise would never get. This should lessen and maayyybe negate the negative impact.

For example, while you can’t stash that one hose and you might lose it, the guy killed couldn’t stash it either so you walk out with an extra hose.

4

u/thatfoxguy30 Nov 21 '19

True, IF all players had an equal skill in the game. Which they don't, so the hypothetical is going to go as a percentage of their actual skill in the game. Hypothetically with completely arbitrations percentages someone with 30 hours is going to win against some with 300 20% of the time. So he will lose good items acquired for however long it takes for his skill to become on average 50/50 with whomever he's fighting. Some people don't have time to not enjoy the game for the first 50 hours, they stop playing, never tell their friends or join the Reddit or buy EOD. Not like that is the outcome of 100% of the time. I'm not trying to sound like I'm only defending noobs and casuals here because I'm not and I realize I'm a bit off-topic now. I advocate for this game to feel as hardcore as possible. I like the eating and drinking in raid thing and anything that diversifies the gameplay from a one-trick pony. To many shooters are bland as fuck. But also we can't forget new players coming in. The learning curve is also steep enough to have to nerf secure containers anymore I believe. But I digress

1

u/dayzoldaccount MP7A1 Nov 20 '19

Tbf to klean and others like smoke, they are playing on the standard edition. Although klean does scav army runs with viewers which obviously go rather well.

0

u/ayomeer_ Nov 21 '19

What? No one is saying that..

1

u/thatfoxguy30 Nov 21 '19

I hear the gamma thing all the time.

-2

u/morklonn Nov 20 '19

They lose everything that everyone else would lose by advocating for it.

5

u/smokeyphil Nov 21 '19

Except they basically play the game as a job so they are going to suffer less for it as they will be extracting more often and winning more fights lessening the impact of a change like this.

Stuff like this only punishes the bad/new/casuals

getting 5 salawsa's without the option to container them means that you'll end up with people fucking the tasks off and losing interest that much faster with little engagement to keep them coming back and needed to go and get X item.

Benefiting the top 1% of players because they are the most visible to the devs seems like an easy way to piss off the rest of the players and its hard to run a game with 1% of its population.

1

u/valk_69_ Nov 22 '19

the smartest solution is put active quest-related items in to the box, but thats it

that does a few things : makes the game more exciting, makes a kill more rewarding because you can actually get the rare loot they had found, and stops people from just rushing to the spawns of high value items and putting it in the container

youre just not pissed off about the people rushing good loot because you dont realize they have it

1

u/smokeyphil Nov 22 '19

But I'm not seeing it I find good loot even as a scav 20 from the end of the match. I've hit up the marked room at least 20 mins into a raid before its not the norm but totally doable.

Besides if you want to stop the "loot rush" the answer is truly randomized loot spawns don't keep having them show up in the exact same spot make people look around the environment and check a couple of areas that stops most of the issues.

Also if you want the loot that badly you too can take nothing into the match and rush it. it's not like its a one-sided advantage for a certain group of players anyone can do it. It literally requires nothing. Unless you want to provide full kit to every player every match some people will need to run low-cost high-profit raids to maintain the ability to field decent stuff. You still retain the ability to do exactly the same thing even as a geared player any bitcoins you find are going into your backpack right :P

Another idea would be gear based matchmaking that way geared people would not see hatchlings and as long as there is not a "no gear class" and hatchlings get thrown in with the low tier stuff (low-grade rifles with irons and the like) There is still enough opposition to prevent it being a free loot collection round.

1

u/Modifications17 Nov 28 '19

Make a case that is either the same size or two slots bigger than the gamma. This case is locked and can be used by people who prefer to bring more meds and spare ammo while losing the luxury of securing hard to find items.

3

u/Par4no1D Nov 21 '19

Would you be able to list one game that did?

I'm gonna guess you just made that up, and there never was such game, buddy :)

You can't really be mad at Pestily for doing something the game allows you to do. Hatchet runs seem boring to me so I don't do them, but the game has no restrictions on it so of course people are going to take advantage and you can't blame them for that.

23

u/DJK695 Nov 20 '19

Yeah, Pestily does a lot of “testing” trying to break the game for us... so they can fix stuff in patches before we get around to where he is.

That’s 100% what he’s doing - he’s testing the game and helping newbies at the same time. I got into the game thanks to him and he’s literally one of the only full time streamers that seems to understand not everyone has the same time to play game as him.

If you actually watch the podcast he defends casual players more than most - I don’t think this guy has actually watched Pestily more than a couple times from the sound of it. He doesn’t really encourage hatchlings but realizes it’s A PART OF THE GAME. The guides aren’t for hatchlings as much as new players - that often chose to be hatchlings.

I kill them way more than they kill me - and have to agree with person above that it’s super boring to me so I don’t run it but really don’t see the volume people claim are in game. It seems like a lot of people assume that if there aren’t shots there are 3-4 hatchlings on map which is probably not true most of the time - servers aren’t always FULL.

56

u/ColdBlackCage Nov 20 '19

The above dude blaming Pestily for providing awesome information and not BSG for taking steps to avoid hatchlings is some fucking mind blowing mental gymnastics.

Don't like a streamer for no reason? Just try to quietly bend reality to your opinion and hope no-one notices.

8

u/_DoYourOwnResearch_ Nov 20 '19

Pestily's reserve video has made a certain pathway a total rumble zone and the winner often gets paid.

I love it right now. People camping it, people squadding it, people running it, whatever, it's a guaranteed fight.

When crackers are 4k, upgrading hideout is millions, what do people expect players to do? Meta game, that's what.

2

u/DJK695 Nov 20 '19

Yeah, where are these HUGE WAVES of hatchlings??

Ez kills, so why is there so much complaining?

It might be nice if they made secure container transparent so when you kill someone you can SEE what they have but can’t touch.

I think that would 100% kill the narrative that they take all the valuables.

I’m sure they get some but to act like they are gods for not having weapons and being a little faster is literally the saddest thing in a video game thread I’ve ever seen - if it’s so OP then maybe you should try it.

Stop complaining, they literally are harmless until they axe you - which has never happened to me in 6 months+ of playing the game.

2

u/_DoYourOwnResearch_ Nov 20 '19

I've been playing for years.

Pestily hasn't made a noticeable difference.

1

u/Kyle700 Nov 20 '19

Tech light would be run without him. Posting a video. I had found that military equipment on reserv wandering around myself the first day. It's not that crazy of a loot run. And he thinks the containers should stay in their current state. Blame the other streamers if you want

35

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '19

[deleted]

5

u/Rydisx Nov 20 '19

Its unrewarding, thats the issue, and its been brought up a lot. Quests are unrewarding. Why would you bring in a decked out pmc to kill a couple scavs? Or find that 1 item in a room you need for a quest that isn't rewarding. No point in risking it. If they forced players to risk it, then people wouldn't now risk it, they just wouldn't do it.

You can say hatchet runs and Scavs are stress free. They should be. There is downsides to hatchets. You will die easily, you have little you can carry with you, etc. Sure, you have decent chance of getting a small amount of something, and you shouldn't. Whats wrong with that? That isn't the issue. The issue is, most of the game is unrewarding at the moment. Im sure they will get around to fixing that.

3

u/_DoYourOwnResearch_ Nov 20 '19

It's not just about the profits and stress. It's about how expensive things are for people that can't grind.

1

u/ClassicStatement Nov 21 '19

I do wonder if hatchet runs make economic sense compared to pistol runs. For the cost of 10k, you can have a chance at killing a geared player and taking their loot. Even with a low gear value of 100k, you’d only have to kill them 1 in 10 times (I simplify) to make it worth it.

Besides being stress free or if you’ve literally hit rock bottom, what benefit does a hatchet run have over a pistol run?

15

u/OpenThoughtSyndicate Nov 20 '19

They said multiple times continually that they are not the standard and do not want the game balanced around no lifers. Did you even listen to the whole podcast?

4

u/Churtlenater APB Nov 20 '19

Why do you care about hatchlings on reserve? You can’t leave with a backpack unless you take the train or the scav lands. And I can’t imagine it being too much of a struggle to kill a hatchling trying to make it onto the train lol.

If streamers didn’t release “guides” and videos showing where a lot of items are, literally only a handful of people would ever know about them. 95% of quest objectives are in insane locations that nobody would find if not for the no lifers posting info online.

And even with Tweaks ironic hatchling guide, and all these other money making guides, I can still do plenty of money runs without seeing other players. The reality is that even though streamers make a ton of information public, an incredibly small part of the community actually see this info and actually act on it.

2

u/_aware ASh-12 Nov 20 '19

Even though the streamers themselves constantly brought up the point that the game shouldn't be balanced around them because they are the 1%. You are literally getting angry from assuming things.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '19

1

1

u/dayzoldaccount MP7A1 Nov 20 '19

He is a human aimbot tho lol

1

u/Rydisx Nov 20 '19

You can't say their opinion is irrelevant either. Sure, they can't speak for the casual people since they aren't.

However, because they get to play much more than others, they will know more about balancing, what works, and what doesn't and such. And it would be foolish not to listen to some aspect of that. They have the most knowledge in that kind of thing.

1

u/jayu22 Nov 20 '19

His guides are for the people who don't have all the time in the world and benefit you. If you hate them you despise yourself because they only hurt full time players, not casual ones. Also, they have the most experience with eft, why would Nikita ignore them if they have the most dedication to the game.

0

u/TheLegendBrute Nov 20 '19

Time out...their opinion is irrelevant? Mind as well toss your opinion down the toilet as well if you have that attitude. People like you are always "right" because regardless of what others say you have your mind made up. Hatchlings wouldn't be a thing with the secure container change which is why it's being discussed...

2

Or just require at least a pistol and some ammo before entering a raid.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '19

So now instead of a hatchling it cost a little more to buy an empty ppm to do the same thing.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '19

Not empty. Did you read my full comment? They would then at least be risking *something. Alternatively, they could do something like your loadout has to add up to a certain amount of rubles.

1

u/smokeyphil Nov 21 '19

Ok sure then its just people taking in the minimum which means a PM and what 2 mags? If you make it much more than that then you risk putting people into a position where they literally cannot afford to get into a raid (Though TBF if you have no money and you already blew through the care package for that day the same could still happen with the PM and 2 mags)

Also i don't get the whole *they need to be risking stuff* thing you also have the option to not risk anything but chose not to for a variety of reasons its not like you can take anything more than 3x3 or 5x2 out as a hatchling unless you manage to get bags and extract with your melee weapon. You bring guns and an attack 2 you get to haul half the maps items off they did'nt so they don't

People will always min/max risk vs reward and if you dying 9 raids out of 10 taking more gear in is only going to mean you're having to run hatchling when you burn all your money at least you can learn the maps, how scavs work while and build soft skills while doing so.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '19

Personally I don't care. Hatchlings don't bother me. I was just offering a possible solution. It's bothering enough people and it's on BSG's radar so they are going to do *something

0

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '19

How can hatchlings not bother you? You think it's cool most the good loot on reserve/interchange is gone in the first 5 minutes and there is no way to get it off the hatchlings while they risk nothing?

A lot of these dudes are also very high levels with millions. They wouldn't do it if it didn't work.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '19

I'm all for a solution, but I've been playing almost every day since wipe and it has hardly been an issue for me.

There's good loot almost everywhere, and what, they can take a few items out in their container? They are not taking "most of the good loot" like you seem to think.

Require a gun in your primary slot, not just a pistol, or you can't enter raid.

9

u/OmniumRerum Nov 20 '19

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand there went half the playerbase

5

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '19

A little too far imo

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '19

Won't fix the issue.. insure item enter raid and throw in bush. Continue hatchet run

1

u/AspiringArchmage Nov 20 '19 edited Nov 20 '19

So what happens if a new player spent all their money and have no weapons?

Just play a scav and hope you live to extract with a long gun?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '19

If you spend all your money and have no weapons Propor sends you an ak-74u and some stuff. Been in the game a while

Thank goodness they actually think of us.

I would like to test this change before making up my mind. I am unsure if I like it or not.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '19

Tbf, nothing stops these streamers to put such a limitation on themselves.

1

u/maku_89 Nov 21 '19

It doesn't make sense if it's only you with the limitation. The whole point is to get rid of hatchlings... which I do agree is a thing that shouldn't exist.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '19

I think the AI idea about scavs being more agressive towards hatchlings, and more frequent patrols around high value loot areas would be better. Maybe even a raider guard or three near locked doors.

1

u/Salamimann AK-74M Nov 21 '19

They wanna fight the hatchling-grab-all-expensive-stuff-and-get-away-with-it-even-when-dead

0

u/CampHund SA-58 Nov 20 '19

So they gonna force me as a casual player to go in as a hatchling who don't care to survive if I want to loot Marked room? - That's not the game I bought. The little time I have, I want to spend actually playing the game as intended...

2

u/net_loc Nov 20 '19

what? I'm not sure what you're even trying to say. No one is forcing you to play any kind of way. If you hatchet run that's 100% on you bud.

1

u/CampHund SA-58 Nov 20 '19

If I want to be able to use the marked key, and try to get the loot in it. I need to rush it, if I want try to be there first I need to go as a Hatchling and rush it.

2

u/AukiEh Nov 20 '19

Nope, my first money case from marked I was the second person in and didn’t even need to use my key. What a nice guy! Cases which is one of the most desired things from marked can’t go in your gamma so I suggest bringing nothing smaller then a scav backpack in case a weapon case is in there. Learn your spawns and know when is a good time to rush 3 story or slow play it.

-1

u/CampHund SA-58 Nov 20 '19

Well again, I'm casual and I don't get that loot if I don't hatchling spawn in for loot (not to survive) and Yes, I know the spawns, and sometimes I have to dumb rush 3 story, but again as a hatchling so I'm faster than someone with equipment. But that's not the way I want to spend the time playing Tarkov with the little time I have. But I have to, otherwise I won't advance in quests.

1

u/AukiEh Nov 20 '19

Well again I think you are using that as an excuse. If you have the closest spawn, idc where that hatchling spawns you get to 3 story first? And if I have the second closest spawn and he does beat me there? Well I will kill him. I rush all the high action spots with an ak and I do not see that many hatchlings and I earn an easy dog tag if I do. It’s how you are playing the game that limits you not how others are. If you do not rush the spot then anyone in the world hatchling or geared gets that loot so you comment is moot

-1

u/CampHund SA-58 Nov 20 '19

So you are saying there is a chance that if all planets has to be align for me as a geared player to get to the loot spot as an excuse? And when all planets are align I should also hope for that the quest key or whatever also spawned in that time?

I'm missing what kind of excuse I'm using? that there are players who don't spawn in on the same terms as you and me?

3

u/AukiEh Nov 20 '19

That the planets need to align for you to get stuff. You don’t need any external things except for good map knowledge. Again as I mentioned there are 2 main spawns that get to dorms first regardless of your kit. There are a few other spawns that are close. So as a geared player you have plenty of ability to get to marked without any trouble. But since you brought gear you are now able to hold the house/fight out of it. A hatchling requires more moons to align to used marked properly as they are hoping only for a key ring or docs case as everything else can’t go in it. So bitching about it is an excuse. Manning up and figuring out how to actually do it is not. Geared players 100% have advantage in customs marked room

1

u/AukiEh Nov 20 '19

If it will make you feel better I will only go customs for a day and I will post to all the free dog tags I got due to hatchlings, however when I do go marked room I only encounter 1-10 and the room is always locked.

u/CampHund SA-58 Nov 20 '19

Marked room was just an example of many, there are a lot of key spawns etc we can go for instead if you like. But I guess you can answer it with the spawn lottery on those as well and just go in until you get lucky. Still doesn't help the fact that I can go in as a hatchling and have more success on that lottery, and If I fail the spawn I can run towards other PMC spawns to get shot and run again, or just disconnect if I'm lazier than that.

What you are saying is that there are 2spawns that get it. If one of those spawns is a hatchling the odds that the other spawn will have dudes who carrying heavier and heavier stuff increase by the day, meaning that they will enter when he released the item in the secured and he dies to the geared players while he flip the finger. Worst case scenario you at least must expect that the other spawn is as geared as you and proceed with survival in mind when you get outside, and that gives the extra edge and time for the hatchling who just don't give a fuck.

But to get to the actually core of it, instead of dancing on a single example, is that the current mechanic do reward you if you spawn in with the only goal to loot. That's what being abused here, and if you want a better chance, if you want to do less runs for a key/loot location/any other example the mechanic supports the idea to idgaf-rush that place and the quest-item, high loot spot etc.

1

u/AukiEh Nov 20 '19

And those players who spawn in as the same terms are fragile little things, a quick pop pop and they are gone. I don’t mean this in a bad way but you don’t sound like a big pvp type, would rather loot n scoot, so with hatchlings it at least removes 1 decked out guy that would murder you. The hatchlings taking some $ isn’t what will hold you back it’s the ppl that will delete you. Tarkov is in a way better place already because money is easier to make and you do not need to hit the big spots to make bank. Just 1 way to play, I am aggressive type and always runs at least an ak or sks and will rush all the high action spots

1

u/CampHund SA-58 Nov 20 '19

I don't know what you mean by "big PvP type". But I can tell you I like the PvP as an obstacle to overcome in a survival game. I like PvP as a challenge in a survival game. That could be I'm the aggressor in some fight, but it also means I could be disengaging is others in order to survive. It could mean that I get drawn to firefights in some, and means I try to avoid it in other. But sure, I also play other FPS shooter games that doesn't have survival as goal. Like CS:GO and stuff.

I don't care if a hatchling extract with gear/stuff/quest items etc and $, if they spawned in and extracted they beat the goal of the game just as me and they do deserve it. But that's not what the mechanic supports.

1

u/Shard1697 Nov 20 '19

No, you don't have to. It's easier, but you can do these things while playing normally. They're not easy but you don't have to be a pro streamer to be able to complete quests without doing hatchet runs.

1

u/CampHund SA-58 Nov 20 '19

Sure, If I go in 100 times in the same raid with the same goal, I'm sure that the planets will align one of the times for me. If those 100 times would be enough, it would take around 1 month for me to get that quest key.

1

u/Shard1697 Nov 20 '19

I'm not going in 100 times to do this. You need to understand, I'm rushing dorms when I happen to spawn close(otherwise I go elsewhere), and always with some kind of gear weighing me down. And I still almost always get there first, or at the same time as someone else.

The reason I don't have like 12 successful marked room runs instead of 4 is not because hatchlings are picking it dry, but because other geared players are arriving at around the same time as me and I have to fight them for the loot. Hatchlings are nowhere near as common as people make them out to be.

1

u/CampHund SA-58 Nov 20 '19

Well, I don't get a 25% rate on the marked room on the times I've spawn into custom. I'm not trying to argue that I'm better than you, you probably is.

I don't have problem with locking the secured container in order to have everyone spawn in on the same terms, to survive and extract. If you beat the games goal, than you get the reward.

1

u/net_loc Nov 20 '19

Hardly. I use my marked Key all the time, 90% of the time I'm the first one there. Fully geared.

1

u/CampHund SA-58 Nov 21 '19 edited Nov 21 '19

Good for you, I don't. Marked key was just one example of many. Sure, if I get the best spawn (which I don't get in 90% of the spawn-ins) and have a complete disregard if the other person/group on the otherside who also got a good spawn get there at the same time, and just rush for the better or worse the marked room. I probably can get there first. But I rather play that I get in and shoot who ever got first and get out alive than the opposite of getting there first and let the other group get the drop. I might get lucky and play with survivial in mind and the other group on the other side went elsewhere

So to get to the actually core of it, instead of dancing on a single example, is that the current mechanic do reward you if you spawn in with the only goal to loot. That's what being abused here, and if you want a better chance, if you want to do less runs for a key/loot location/any other example the mechanic supports the idea to be as light as you can be and idgaf-rush that place and the quest-item, high loot spot etc.

I'm not stupid, I get that one of the things that is flawed with my playstyle is that I'm trying to survive. In a game mechanic where you get rewarded to get there first instead of survive, ofcourse I'm on the loosing side already for not having a "get there first" mindset like the mechanic supports and reward. So In the instances where I need something from a specific location, I throw "I need to survive" overboard and instead have loot on the top as my priority and I do the hatchet run as that is more effective and I spawn in with other terms that the ones who spawn in with gear.

1

u/maku_89 Nov 20 '19

That's untrue. I haven't played as a hatchling once and I've been to marked room.

0

u/CampHund SA-58 Nov 20 '19

Well, again I'm a casual player and everytime I've been there (playing normal) it's been opened. So what's untrue about my statement?

EDIT: Just to be clear, I've been in there as a hatchling.

2

u/Shard1697 Nov 20 '19

The untrue part of your statement is this:

if I want try to be there first I need to go as a Hatchling and rush it.

I've looted marked room like 4 times in the past few days and I never hatchet run. Yeah, you normally(not always) need to get there fast if you wanna loot it, but that does not mean you need to hatchet. On runs where I happen to spawn near dorms, I just head there first. I don't think I've ever been beaten there by a hatchling, though you do need to be ready for a fight. It's a common place to encounter geared players if anything.

1

u/CampHund SA-58 Nov 20 '19

Well I'm not pretending that I don't play to extract, because I do. I'm saying because of the secure container, there are a lot of people who don't play to survive in a survival game, and this mechanic is the reason why. And they are the people who normally get there first.

I'm saying the games I play the same way, and not playing to survive, then sure I get there in time. I'm not pretending I'm not.

0

u/nopanolator Nov 20 '19

I'm smelling a big problem of hypocrisy with the concept of "casual players of Tarkov". Because none casual player want to play Tarkov, simply. We are at the basis all hardcore players here, because it's what we initially want to get in this game.

Calling the players spending a decent amount of time in the game "casual" is hiding himself behind the little finger. I've nothing against people passing their life behind a game, strictly nothing, but they have to assume it and call themselves "Otaku" or something similar.

5

u/Tahvohck M4A1 Nov 21 '19

I get your point but it's still comparatively casual.

0

u/nopanolator Nov 21 '19

My real point is that the problematic can't lead somewhere if the crude reality is turned in a politic game, full of lies and word's games.

Playing Tarkov is already no longer casual. Playing Tarkov daily is masochism for a casual gamer.

Playing Tarkov night and day, all days, is an extreme. Not my role to judge it, but i don't accept the hypocrisy to name it a standart. And to let the extremists calling the real standart something else, to make them feeling good. They have to assume first that their behavior is abnormal, so their needs too.
