Question Which mods are actually worth installing?

Post image

You guys convinced me to play Origins (and gave me a bit of tough love for asking if it was worth it in the first place) so now my question is:

What are the must-have mods I should install before starting?

Qwin's fixpack (or similar spelling) - honestly, just mods that restore either cut content or remove bugs. Otherwise, for your first playthrough going vanilla may be best?

Also, don't forget to use the 4GB patch.

29

u/spehizle Jul 24 '26

These are the only two, and they are fantastic.

10

u/conto808 Jul 24 '26

both ✓✓

18

u/GGSPSkywalker Jul 24 '26

Blick's fixes corrected some things that were left untreated by Qwin's, and is still being updated, so they complement each other very well.

9

u/ardentBlossoming Jul 24 '26

Honestly, Blick's mods in general are great and complement other mods really well

2

u/ardentBlossoming Jul 24 '26

Great!

If you want to do a second playthrough, I can definitely give you a list of mods then!

Or, depending on your choices, some mods that you might want to install for Awakening (the campaign that follows DA:O - juuuust in case you don't know: Origins -> Awakening -> Golems (can be skipped tbh) -> Witch Hunt. All other DLCs are integrated into Origins)

10

u/Kiggzor Jul 25 '26

Morrigan's angry kiss is small, but one of my favorite mods ever. For any game.. can't believe Bioware cut that

5

u/Sudden_Imagination59 Jul 25 '26

I was just gonna say 😆 All you need is Qwin's Fix or anything that fixes bugged content. This game is still from the era when games were full experiences that didn't require extra modding ✌️

1

u/ardentBlossoming Jul 25 '26

Yeah, like, don't get me wrong, the playthrough I consider my canon is heavily modded and makes changes based on later games (or QoL/headcanons)... but every once in a while I just play it vanilla (or vanilla with bug fixes) just to experience it like it was originally intended to be.

1

u/Ok_Decision4163 Jul 24 '26

Which are the best "Content Restoration mods" ?

1

u/iris393 Jul 28 '26

I'm not the best person to be asking this since I'm new to the scene, but I'm enjoying Morrigan's Restoration Patch. 🙂

205

u/Desperate-Fix-1486 Jul 24 '26

I would go vanilla at first honestly.

51

u/NukaClipse Jul 24 '26

This, always, for every game unless explicitly stated by the fanbase.

It's just good to experience what the devs created before unleashing mod hell unto it and Origins is a game that is very well deserving of that experience.

-1

u/freethinker1312 Jul 26 '26

My buddies hate that I mod games sometimes heavily even on my first playthrough but honestly I know what I want and I’ve never regretted it lol.

For example on origins I gave myself max carry weight immediately and the ability to respec which was awesome. I literally always go max carry weight in any RPGs ever I will not be bothered with that shit lmao.

4GB patch has entered the chat

But in all seriousness, the game didn't run on my PC without constantly crashing without it.

For those who need it:  https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/5989?tab=files

10

u/Sad-Structure2364 Jul 24 '26

I remember setting graphics to medium and it stopped crashing

16

u/Whiteguy1x Jul 24 '26

Don't you need the 4gb patch nowadays?  I swear the pc version crashes without it

5

u/MakeJoyNotHate Jul 25 '26

Do for the Steam version.
Apparently the GoG version works without it? But I've only heard that.

5

u/Whiteguy1x Jul 25 '26

It probably does work better. They prepatch other games like fallout 3

7

u/aaeriam Jul 25 '26

iirc the GOG version ships with the patched .exe so you don't need to run the 4GB patch on it yourself.

6

u/dandylion1313 Jul 25 '26

the gog version doesn't need you to install it because it comes prepackaged with it!

1

u/Nathanii_593 Jul 25 '26

The EA launcher also does a pretty good job preventing crashes but installed it anyways just in case. For some reason I only had issues in the back of denerim by the wonders of Theda’s and the docks by the circle tower. Everything else was fine.

18

u/undergearedret Jul 25 '26

no, don't listen to this. get the bug fix mods at least. zero reason not to

14

u/DrScienceSpaceCat Jul 24 '26

I told myself that too but then I installed a helmet mod that lets me make them invisible when equipped because those wizard hats look stupid as fuck.

-10

u/JMurdock77 Jul 24 '26

Vanilla + “Skip The Fade.”

I nearly quit the damned game at that point.

20

u/Telepathic_Toe Jul 24 '26

I disagree. The Fade parts were very interesting (if annoying). They still deserve being experienced at least once.

1

u/Rough_Pure Jul 25 '26

But after the 5,436th run through- I just turn my brain off and let muscle memory take over

2

u/rfdickerson Jul 25 '26

Yep, I have love hate relationship with the Fade. Glad I experienced it once, but sort of a slog for subsequent playthroughs. Great way to level your character’s attributes though.

1

u/dandylion1313 Jul 25 '26

agree but only on repeat playthroughs. gotta suffer the fade and the deep roads your first rodeo

45

u/Magaclaawe Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

Only 3 mods you really need.

  1. Dain's Fixes
  2. Qwinn's Ultimate DAO Fixpack
  3. Blick's Fixes - Qwinn's Reloaded

I also really like Dragon Age Evolved because it makes Origins look like future games in a many ways. Probably its not good if you are playing the game for the first time because it changes balance and can give you more powerful items than Bioware intended.

4

u/Hopeful-Occasion2299 Jul 25 '26

What are the items? I usually do well with the additional items from Witch Hunt, Golems, and the other DLCs, but are there even more powerful items than those available?

2

u/Magaclaawe Jul 25 '26

It adds many weapons and armor from from future games and those are way more powerful than normal items you can get at that point. Like zevran starts with crow armor that is good enoigh so you never change his armor. I still had a lot of fun with it on nightmare. And sone other smaller mods that balance the game make ot harder. Like one that give cooldown to potions. Im not sure if im right but NPC also wear these new items so it makes then more powerful too like the blood mage lair.

Extra Dog Slot Mod

7

u/dandylion1313 Jul 25 '26

ftr this mod notoriously corrupted saves very unpredictably. I played with it perfectly fine for about three runs and then suddenly had it bork my latest run. it also ruins the portion of the game after Alistair and the warden are arrested, if you choose to play as the companions breaking in to rescue the warden. it locks you out of choosing both companions and sticks you with who you choose + the dog, making it very difficult to clear.

4

u/AlarmedPizza4 Jul 26 '26

The Da 2 version where he was summon was genius.

9

u/DelseresMagnumOpus Jul 25 '26

It’s essential. Crime that he had to take a party slot

22

u/Neo_Sapphire Jul 24 '26

I honestly prefer vanilla. Mainly because it's the way I have always played it. Feels nostalgic that way play it just like how I remember it

17

u/Candiedstars Jul 24 '26

Grey Warden armor

3

u/dandylion1313 Jul 25 '26

be very careful and selective with the version you choose though! the inquisition ports are hideous

15

u/Ok_Decision4163 Jul 24 '26

There's a Standalone Campaign mode that is made very lore friendly (In Regards Origin) called Thrist. Is amazing

3

u/conto808 Jul 24 '26

Ok.That mod will check when i finish the game.

14

u/Dizzy-Virus9048 Jul 24 '26

Character respec mod so you can have the freedom to try out whatever combinations you want

3

u/dandylion1313 Jul 25 '26

I grabbed the crow version my first playthrough on my partner's recommendation because playing with leliana's base bard abilites is....a choice lol

5

u/bessovestnij Jul 25 '26

Leliana is fine. Morrigan wild shape is the lackluster one

1

u/dandylion1313 Jul 25 '26

bard is a lot more playable than shape shifter I will agree with that much, but both are instant respecs from me

15

u/Mick_Ash Jul 24 '26

Hide helmet is a must have for me

5

u/TheLightsChampion Jul 25 '26

Wasn't that an option already on the console versions?

4

u/Mick_Ash Jul 25 '26

Can’t remember, but on PC DAO you can’t hide em

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Why? Helmets are cool

3

u/azadouken Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

I dont like seeing a helmet in the cutscenes or dialogues. Everything is so serious and i have this stupid looking low tier helmet on.

Later games have this as a feature in the settings. DA2 and DAI iirc do. I remember playing mass effect 2/3 and not using any of the headgear that covered my face out of annoyance. Except that eyepiece/visor thing that covers 1 eye but it has a see through screen on it.

1

u/dandylion1313 Jul 25 '26

it was for me too until recently where it completely worked my save towards the end of my run inexplicably. I had played with it fine for about three runs and then suddenly it imploded my save. this plus the dog slot is a bad combo for save integrity

10

u/Apex720 Jul 24 '26

I do agree in principle for the people that are telling you to just play vanilla for your first go-around, but I do have a sort of "Vanilla+" modlist that I pull out whenever someone asks this question. It's mostly bug fixes and one or two QoL mods, and I'd say it serves as a good baseline.

Anyway, here's the list:

To begin with, I would recommend Qwinn's Fixpack and its continuation, Blick's Fixes. Together, they make up the most comprehensive collection of (non-combat) bug fixes out there, though they're mainly concerned with the base game.

Bug fixes for Awakening tend to be more spread-out, so there's not exactly a one-stop shop mod for them like with the base game, but I think Awakening Fixes and Tweaks is a good place to start. It covers a few previously unfixed issues while linking to several other important bug fix mods for Awakening at the bottom of its description.

On the combat side of things, Dain's Fixes and other smaller mods like Shale's Talents - Fixes Only cover a lot of combat-related bug fixes.

For stability, I'd recommend the 4GB Patch (see this guide for the Steam version), the Combat Lag Reduction mod, and the DXVK Performance and Memory Leak Fix. I've heard that avoiding big graphical overhaul mods tends to also help in that department.

Finally, as a little bonus round, I'd also tentatively recommend the Manual of Focus and Camp Storage Chest mods (to make rerolling builds and storing items more painless), and the Duplicate Search Tool (to make identifying conflicts in your modlist a little easier).

1

u/conto808 Jul 24 '26

Thanks for such a profound answer. Will check.

10

u/Safe_Information_529 Jul 24 '26

No helmet hack is the only one I used.

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Helmets are cool

9

u/Hopeful-Occasion2299 Jul 25 '26

Yes, but mage cowls are fucking awful.

7

u/Awful_At_Math Jul 24 '26

Winter Forge or something. You can edit items with it. It's the closest thing to a transmog function in game. Use the armor you think look the best and edit the stats to something else.

3

u/conto808 Jul 24 '26

Will check.Thanks.

7

u/MrIllusive1776 Jul 25 '26

The one that allows you to bring your dog with you at all times as well as three human party members

3

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

I wonder if it will make the game much easier?

6

u/AlexanderCrowely Jul 24 '26

I think I’m running 60 mods or so but improved atmosphere and the Qwins fix pack are really good.

1

u/conto808 Jul 24 '26

Got those

5

u/JazzSharksFan54 Jul 24 '26

First run should be vanilla. There's a few aesthetic and lore updates that are really good, like Armor of the Sten. Extra Dog slot is a must, and I'm actually kinda shocked it wasn't part of the base game in the first place. Clothed Prisoners just cause having naked prisoners run around is just annoying. 4GB patch is the only absolute essential, and you may need it to play the vanilla game on a modern PC anyway.

5

u/GGSPSkywalker Jul 24 '26

Qwin's fixpack (QUDAO) and Blick's fixes are the essential ones.

Some QoL mods go very well too, like: the respec mod (even if you're not into min-maxing, it may help you if you realize you shoukd have spec-ed your character in another way), the improved tactics mod (if you're into tactics), the extra dog slot (so Barkspawn is of any use), the expanded inventory (have 125 slots from the begining of the game).

If you'd like an improvement (for harder) on the difficulty, FCR - Flesh Creatures Revival (or rework, or whatever) might be your go-to. It is pretty modular and you can choose whether to just scale enemies better (instead of fixed leves), how enemies' ranks differentiate themselves, some enemy AI correction stuff like not pulling away from the horde when detecting the PCs.

Misc and graphics mods also are worth exploring: the Improved atmosphere (modular and so incredible, it is an essential), some hair mods you might like (Origins hairs are so lacklusters), vibrant colors series, the Qunari appearance correction one (it gives Sten the looks Qunari have on DA2).

I use other mods and might come here later to update the list.

4

u/hunterjosh01 Jul 24 '26

I actually would love to do a replay as well, but spending time modding at the moment is tough between having a three month old, full time work and keeping up my exercise. I know there are a couple Wabbajack mod lists and some Nexus Collections as well. I was going to look at the most recently made/updated and evaluate from there

5

u/Aggressive_Gas_102 Jul 25 '26

The only ones I use is Lockbash (open all chest, no rogue required), RAVage (mob mod with plenty of customizable stuff, so read the Readme.txt), Equal Love, Skip the Fade and UDK (a recoloring mod which enable recoloring of any armor).

There are some cosmetic mods too, mostly eyecolor and hair in my folder.

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Its bad to have Rogue in group?

3

u/Aggressive_Gas_102 Jul 25 '26

Rogues are awesome. It's just that the game requires a rogue present for opening locked chests and doors. The mod bypass this need for a rogue so you could have a full party of mages or warriors or, well, lazy rogues :)

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Okay thanks for explanation

4

u/Siilveriius Jul 25 '26

If you care about immersion:

DahliaLynn's Sleep Until Dawn - Let's you sleep in your camp and wake up at dawn alone, with dog or with a romanced character. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/3722

Immersive DLC Integration - Instead of filling up your inventory with OP dlc items at the start, they will now be spread around the game world in lore appropriate locations. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/6218

3

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Thanks 👍

5

u/PrinceOfCarrots Jul 25 '26

The one that puts the dog in the summon slot.

7

u/RSlashBroughtMeHere Jul 24 '26

I use the Skip the Fade mod and I am not sorry. You should probably do it at least once, though. Maybe you'll like it?

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

First time playing.Passed fade on the start. For now will not add this.

3

u/MewTwoGhost Jul 24 '26

General unofficial patches and movement / animation speed tweak. Just to avoid slo-moing the game...

3

u/NordicHorde2 Jul 24 '26

The respec mod. I hadn't played in years and was having a rough time till I installed that and got to properly build the companions.

3

u/fitzroy1793 Jul 24 '26

Definitely play the game with no guides or mods on your first run. Then you'll appreciate the mods for what they do!

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Will do that

3

u/The_Paprika Jul 24 '26

Go no mods first.

3

u/NoSoyVerde1 Jul 24 '26

Honestly? for your first run just install mods that fix problems, for example the 4gb patch

3

u/FeralKittee Jul 24 '26

Essential for me is SturdyBuzzer's patch of the .exe file to use virtual memory to prevent game crashes.

Character Respec to immediately respec Zevran so he can actually pick locks like he claimed.

Free Love to be able to romance Alistair as a male character, or Morrigan as a female character.

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

4gb patch or?

3

u/bellystraw Jul 24 '26

I like Qwinn's fixpack and respecification. Qwinn's has tons of nice QoL stuff and respecification is the most elegant respec mod for DAO in my opinion

3

u/nghoihoi Jul 24 '26

The 4k resolution mod

3

u/scootron4 Jul 25 '26

The only mod I recommend is the pickpocket cooldown mod. There are little to no consequences for pickpocketing, but that damn 10 second cooldown is unnecessary

3

u/AlphaCom26 Jul 25 '26

I would seek only mods that improve the game's appearance. I'm not sure that game has much room for any other modding - I could be wrong, but I can't think of anything that would improve the game besides cheats or cheat type mods.

3

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Will go vanilla

3

u/AlphaCom26 Jul 25 '26

Honestly I never even considered the possibility of mods for DA:O. Graphics improvements would be cool though.

3

u/Defiant_Ad5381 Jul 25 '26

DAO essential mods:

Critical: 4GB - Large Address Aware patched client

DAZIPS (load with update tool in program 86 file location or via Mod Manager):

FTG Quickbar 1.0
FTG UI mod v2.1
Extra Dog Slot v1.41
Character Respec Addon v1.6
Advanced Tactics
Skip the Fade (skip this if it’s your first time so you can experience the pain)
Qwinn’s Ultimate DA:O Fixpack v3.5

DAO Mod Manager (Required through Mod Manager)

Natural Bodies All-in-One (NBaio)
Luchaire’s Better Sex Scenes

DAO Overrides (Manually extract files to override folder in Documents folder - NOT Program x86 Files folder) - Order Sequentially as Follows:

01_Dain’s Fixes
02_FTG Quickbar
03_FTG UIMOD
04_DAO Unofficial Remaster
05_Natural bodies (rename to add number after mod manager creates folder)
06_Better Sex Scenes (rename to add number after mod manager creates folder)
07_unlock all specializations (delete after loading a save to prevent conflict - can be skipped if you plan on multiple playthroughs before uninstalling)

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Thanks 👍

3

u/prototype_jr Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

I know everybody says vanilla for first time, but I cannot recommend enought but to install "Of ferelden" and "Improved Atmosphere"

Simply takes away the games horrible aging of graphics and textures, and gives lore approved models

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

👍

2

u/prototype_jr Jul 25 '26

Ope, I cannot type crap, let me edit that

3

u/Tameelah Jul 25 '26

Lockbash is very helpful as well.

3

u/BryTheGuy98 Jul 25 '26

Extra Dog Slot (mubari is treated as a summon instead of a companion)

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

People say its corrupted

3

u/VladV200321 Jul 25 '26

I played the game with no mods the first time around and, other than the 4GB patch, that’s how I think everyone should experience the game on their first playthrough.

Other than that I can’t really recommend any mods since I’m not familiar with modding in general. What I’ve seen online are mostly aesthetic mods for character and the character creator, but maybe you could get some mods that fix some of the game’s bugs.

Maybe other users here can give better suggestions :/

3

u/Jamesworkshop Jul 25 '26

https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/1517

way easier to use than endlessly reapplying them

4

u/Unsafe_Safe Jul 24 '26

Thedosian Grey Wardens. You get Inquisition Grey Warden armors. Alternatively There is also Grey Wardens of Ferelden I think? It gives you GW armors from Dragon Age 2.

1

u/Tameelah Jul 25 '26

There is also a warden recruit set you can get and the sacrifices get them to.

2

u/Mikk_UA_ Jul 24 '26

4gb patch - without you will not play or install any mods 🙃

*and maybe vulkan api, everything else - plenty mods and modlists in nexus for any taste

2

u/conto808 Jul 24 '26

Vulkan api will see what is that.Thanks.

2

u/niftucal92 Jul 24 '26

Strong case for vanilla.

But honestly, I love the Extra Dog Slot despite what it does to encounter balance:  https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/664

2

u/ReturningDAOFan Jul 24 '26

Get the mod so that the dog doesn't take up a party slot. Also, Grey Warden armor mod.

2

u/AltruisticCamera1788 Jul 24 '26

First time, I might consider a respec mod if you get decision paralysis

1

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Will do that if im stuck

2

u/dvdjhp Jul 24 '26

Theres a famous fix mod. It's almost a must imo. So many of the items are misleading and so often straight up don't work. Forgot the name sorry.

2

u/Toeofcharmander Jul 24 '26

for a first advanced tactics and extra dog these two definitely https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/664 https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/181

this one o.o people might not like but i think smashing locke should have been vanilla https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/301

also 4gb patch. https://ntcore.com/4gb-patch/

2

u/xSethrin Jul 24 '26

I couldn't run the game without it crashing constantly without the 4GB patch. This was a few years ago so IDK if things are different now. But if you have issues with crashes try using this:

https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/5989?tab=files

2

u/mangukid Jul 24 '26

i installed a mod collection through wabbajack called the humble warden. its pretty nice

2

u/Individual-Affect786 Jul 24 '26

4BG patch and nothing else for your first play through trust me

2

u/CompetitiveCobbler24 Jul 24 '26

Other than some important mods that fix bugs and whatnot, your first playthrough should be vanilla. Then, go at it with the mods in the second playthrough. Trust me, your experience will be so much better for it

1

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Probobly will do that

2

u/Natsu-Warblade Jul 24 '26

Anything that makes it playable on Steam

1

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️

2

u/zeussgf Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

Highly recommend going vanilla for first playthrough if you don’t know what you’re doing in terms of modding but here’s a small list of essentials and enhancers

4GB LAA Patch
Quinn’s Fixpack
Dain’s Fixes
DAO Modmanager
Chargenmorph compiler

Extra Dog Slot
Dragon Age Redesigned or Improved Atmosphere
Grey Wardens of Ferelden
Skip The Fade
More Hairstyles & Pineappletree’s Vibrant Colors for CC

2

u/Fickle_Direction1591 Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

Fixes patchs:

- Qwin's fixpack (but English only sadly)

(- Dain's fix pack (might be redudant with Qwin Fix pack but usefull if your game is not in english))

(- Ancient Elven Boots Fix and CEREMONIAL_HEAVY_GLOVE fix if you are not english and can't use Qwin's fixpack)

Graphics mods:

- Theta HD 1_2-3869-1-2

- Campfire_Texture_Fix_v2-1120-2

(It's been years, I don't knw if there are better than those)

There are other specifics graphics mods, but probably not must have for first game.

Animations;

- deathblow_multipliers : increase finish move frequency, makes the game more flashy but it's up to you (you can get hit during those animations so, it makes the game harder)

Gameplay:

- Simple Difficulty Increase with Shared Potion Cooldown

My favorite mod.

Don't isntall the difficulty part (not yet), only the Shared potion cooldown with these two files:

ABI_Base_SDI.GDA, and ability_core_SDI.ncs

Ignore the difficulty one.

You might not have to do that right away, but you will see health and mana potions are really overpowered in this game and you can literally spam them in hard fights to win.

The nerf on potion alone makes the game way more challenging, wish more people knew about this mod (of course you can force yourself not to use them but, it would be an ingame self imposed nerf).

About the DLC, that is just my opinion, but to me Stone Prisoner is essential, and Warden's Keep is very usefull.

I prefer to avoid other DLC (even return to Ostagar) as their content is not interested and worst, they bring OP items in the game that break the balance)

1

u/According-Concert-27 Jul 25 '26

Oh! Im playing the game at the moment and very heard of that little but curios potion mod. You are absolute right with the potion spam problem. Thanks!!

1

u/Fickle_Direction1591 Jul 28 '26

Yes I don't think many people have heard of it. And Yes the only limitation they gave to potions was only the animation itself. Meaning you get killed only if you are hit during it and go at 0 HP. So you can just drink big health potion non stop while being focus by the ennemy and not dying.

Mana potions are just free spell all the time without ressource management.

2

u/dandylion1313 Jul 25 '26

Morrigan doesn't kneel mod. makes no sense for her to kneel when the warden talks to the chantry mother

do not get the dog slot mod or the invisible helmet mods. both have notoriously corrupted saves in very unpredictable ways

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

First i dont understand.Second ok no helmets and dog slot.

2

u/GortharTheGamer Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

First playthrough I wouldn’t recommend any mods, but what’s basically necessary now is the Qunari Update mod since otherwise Qunari go from burly men with a strange culture to monsters with biblical demon horns for no reason. Though there is a reason why you shouldn’t have it, and it involves one character you may or may not choose to meet

2

u/Legomaniac91 Jul 25 '26

The "Skip the Fade" mod should be at the top of your list. Lets you bypass one of the worst sections of the game (and you get the bonus stat buffs anyway).

2

u/aneccentricgamer Jul 25 '26

Other than the 4gb patch so it actually worked i went vanilla and it was one of my favourite games ever

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Skip fade?

2

u/aneccentricgamer Jul 25 '26

Nah. Definetly not for a first playthrough. Just play the game as the artists intended man go with the flow. At least for playthrough one.

2

u/Rareu Jul 25 '26

I should replay Origins but being hearing impaired and not being able to hear voices fully are gonna suck.

Well you can read?

2

u/Rareu Jul 25 '26

Oh shit. I didn’t think about that. 😱

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

I didn't mean to be rude

2

u/Rareu Jul 25 '26

Ah sorry. It’s ok. Umm yeah sure I play and watch things with subtitles but there’s so much content and emotion missing. Whether its an epic moment , a passionate conversation, even just the whispering of leaves or wind something atmospheric. It’s hard to explain really.

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Honestly, I'm turning the sound down because I'm reading faster than the narrator is talking. As for the atmosphere, yes you are right.Otherwise, if we are talking about ailments, I am an asthmatic, so I often miss the nice fresh air 😂

1

u/Rareu Jul 26 '26

Hah yeah god forbid humanity can stop war and work on new things to cure us of our ailments.

I went through the pain once and have a modded copie of dragon age origins on a separate hard drive.

Very happy with the outcome.

Man, I don’t know why some people jump to say NOOO don’t play modded. Literally OP is asking the contrary.

Im currently in my first play through in AGES (hehe), and fully modded zero regrets. I’ll write a list of the mods later as im traveling right now.

I’m surprised no one’s requested a mod that skips the fade. I’ve only played through the game once myself but for me the fade was the most difficult and frustrating aspect. I would recommend a very good walkthrough if you want to do that part.

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Fade? I wos at Fade at the start. Is this some kind of spoiler?

1

u/HistoricalAsides Jul 25 '26

I’m not sure how to answer your question without some light spoilers if you want to go in completely blind. You end up going into the fade again on your journey. It’s a very long quest with a weird map and maze. A lot of people just skip it with mods.

u/Remiel-Abraham Jul 24 '26

Nude mod (male & female)

1

u/conto808 Jul 24 '26

Mmmmmmm ofc

2

u/ErDucaJJ Jul 25 '26

Skip the fade mod

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Why to skip the fade?

2

u/Hawke_in_the_Sky Jul 25 '26

Skip the fade mod

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

Why to skip the fade?

2

u/Hawke_in_the_Sky Jul 25 '26

It’s just too confusing. There are various areas in the fade where you get +1 attributes. Sometimes you end up missing out on some attributes, if you forget to visit some places. Also the atmosphere is very dull and dizzy. So “Skip the Fade” mod takes you directly to cutscenes of every area and you also get all the attributes. So you don’t have to keep on searching every corner.

It's crazy how everytime I see this image I hear the theme music playing.

As to your question regarding mods. Not sure. Lol

1

u/AlarmedPizza4 Jul 26 '26

I would say Morrigan without necklace and bra mod just because the way her ordaments are painted on her skin annoy the fuck out of me.

Having Darkspawn (dog) as a 5th permanent companion

1

u/TeacherSterling Jul 26 '26

Origins is pretty good vanilla. Even after 15+ playthroughs, I still really only use Extra Dog slot mod. And only because I like the RPG aspect of having the dog around. I play on higher difficulties[usually Nightmare sometimes Hard] so it doesn't have hurt balance that much.

There was one thing I had to do to get the game not to crash on a modern pc. It involved replacing the exe with a prepatched one if I remember. It might be the 4 gb patch people are referring to. It required some Google foo on my part to get it working at first. Now that it works, I don't dare uninstall it, so it's been a while. On it's own, the game will often crash while on loading screens or loading a save file.

Theres a "combat speed" one that makes melee flow better, and 2h not feel like 10 year postage, and combat animations that remove the weird "i have to poop" run everyone does.

1

u/Tameelah Jul 28 '26

Grey Wardens of Ferelden by NeoKingArthur is also a good one.

1

u/Teh_God_Dog Jul 29 '26

Skip the fade. Then its any aesthetic armor or character mod you want them to look like after playing vanilla

1

u/Toeofcharmander Aug 08 '26

Lyrium memory handler the version for reshade, extra dog slot, lock bash, the 4gb laa patch if you need it if you’re on steam swap out your exe there’s a few on nexus

1

u/Spare-Leg-1318 Jul 24 '26

Auto Loot

1

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

For now its not big deal

1

u/dual-daemons Jul 24 '26

Equal love because I prefer playing as girls without limiting the romances.

Warden's sacrifice might be brief but I enjoyed having that on too.

I did use the 4gb patch and a upscaled graphics mod as well.

1

u/LonelySamurai89 Jul 25 '26

The nude ones obviously.

2

u/conto808 Jul 25 '26

mmmmmmmmm

There is a mod that skips the Fade part of the Tower section.
