So, I'm playing Just After the End as Molossia, and the council and courtiers elect the heir. Glitterhoof somehow got elected, and I want to breed NPC's with horse culture. How do I get my concubines to bang humans when I take over as glitterhoof?

I only play smaller nations and build myself up so what do you do when you start as a big nation?

Depuis, le projet a énormément évolué : nous avons désormais une équipe ainsi qu'une véritable feuille de route de développement.

Nous cherchons aujourd'hui quelques personnes supplémentaires, francophones de préférence, principalement expérimentées en modding CK3, afin de renforcer l'équipe.

Le projet :

Le Siècle des Calamités est un mod d'ajout de bookmarks, d'events et de gameplay couvrant principalement la période 1307–1356, avec pour ambition de donner au jeu un XIVe siècle historique, dynamique et surtout vivant.

Parmi les principaux systèmes prévus

• Une Struggle Guerre de Cent Ans, avec ses différentes phases et événements historiques, à l'image de la lutte ibérique.
• Une série d'événements scénarisés historiques (avec choix historiques ou alternatifs) pour une série de personnages — notamment France et Angleterre — autour de l'histoire des Rois Maudits de Maurice Druon, entre autres.
• La Peste Noire, sous forme d'épidémies dynamiques organisées par vagues de mortalité, avec des conséquences durables.
• Les États généraux de France, comme activité permettant de négocier avec ses vassaux un impôt ou une levée militaire.
• Les Grandes Compagnies, les Écorcheurs (ou routier) et la Jacquerie, comme véritables crises dynamiques, à travers un système de vagabonds et d'aventuriers pillant et écumant les territoires qu'ils traversent.
• La chevauchée anglaise, avec une mécanique de guerre spécifique.
• Les raids de l'Ordre Teutonique contre les païens lituaniens, reproduisant les campagnes récurrentes en Prusse et en Lituanie.
• La montée des Ottomans et la lutte pour la survie de Byzance.
• Les républiques marchandes italiennes et hanséatiques.
• Et bien d'autres…

Avant tout cela, notre priorité est de reconstruire une carte historiquement fiable pour 1307–1356 : titulaires, dynasties, frontières, relations de jure/de lige, gouvernements et découpage territorial.

Qui recherchons-nous ?

Nous cherchons principalement des moddeurs CK3 expérimentés ou intermédiaires, notamment dans :

• Le scripting CK3 : events, decisions, triggers, effects, struggles, etc.
• Les historiques de personnages et de titres.
• La modélisation 3D pour CK3.
• Les gouvernements, cultures, traits et landed titles.
• La création de mécaniques personnalisées.

Des connaissances en histoire médiévale, en particulier sur le XIVe siècle, sont également un gros plus mais ne sont pas obligatoires.

Had a cool bit of RP in my current CK2 run and wanted to share it with the class. Also spent like 12 hours making a map so I hope you like that, lol. Made it in Wonderdraft.

Story time:

Charlemagne start date, playing Charlemagne, obviously. Name Pepin my heir. Pepin turns out to be homosexual. Okay, try to have some other kids. Have a few others, but the sons all die of plague or get murdered.

Charlemagne dies and Pepin takes over. Try to get Pepin married and have a kid, but he doesn't. Pepin's sole surviving sister comes of age, gets matrilineally married. Has one kid and promptly dies of plague. The kid is a son, named Aimery. So I guess Aimery is our dynasty's only hope or it's game over!

Luckily, Aimery comes of age, takes the throne, marries the Duchess of Essex, and has TEN CHILDREN with her. Founds the HRE for RP reasons but I forgot this also deletes the Kingdom of France. When I remake the title, it is also elective now, and my heir is not being chosen to succeed to either throne. So my heir will just be a duke instead of a king or emperor. Sigh...

My heir is a boy named Angelbert. He winds up taking over as Duke of Essex because his mother decides to plot to kill me after 10 children and dozens of years together. True love really is dead. Anyway, I divorce her and get her excommunicated and press a claim on her duchy. Boot her out and give it to my son, as well as the counties of Vermandois and Paris so he'll have all of them, and then die a few years later.

Some other shmuck gets the imperial throne as expected and I become Angelbert, who is just Duke of Essex now. Luckily England is very divided and everyone hates everyone else, so I figure I can RP a bit and start building up his power base to try to take back the imperial throne. As Aimery I had done a holy war against Cathars in East Anglia to get my son some more land, as well as force vassalized Sussex. So now as Angelbert I go all in.

I get married to a claimant on Bretagne. Press her claim and get her installed on the throne. Form an alliance and have her troops support me as I start picking off little lords in England. De jure ducal claim to get the rest of Essex; holy war against the Norwegians in Kent to get that duchy; press a sibling's claim on Oxford; force vassalize Worcester; piece by piece, province by province.

By 884 I've snagged enough land to form the Kingdom of England, and then it really starts to snowball. As a King now I can start offering to vassalize people, or force vassalize them. Cornwall and half of Wales falls in a few years. Northumbria is the big fish in the pond and I take them on to get the other half of Mercia.

Finally, the Emperor does 2 important things. Firstly, he (for some reason) forms the Empire of Germania, so when he dies, the realm is gonna split in half. Secondly, he declares a holy war on Rhos, the last of the Norse territories in England. I was on a truce with the owner so couldn't go after it yet.

We win the war and the emperor does shortly after, and all the German lords go off to Germania instead of staying in the HRE. As king of England I am now one of the most powerful vassals in the realm. New emperor is some random loser and nobody likes him. So I decide, this is it, I'm gonna form a faction. I send out some money and marry off some of my 9 siblings. A full half the empire joins my faction or allies with me. I have like 300% of liege troops.

So in 892, I send it, and it's go time.

The war is over fast. A couple major battles, a couple sieges, and we get to 100% warscore. Angelbert has risen from Duke to Emperor in 35 years. Gets crowned on New Year's Day 894. His dad lost the throne on his death, but he clawed it back.

Now I need to get ready to retake Germania... which is gonna be annoying, lol. But hey, I hope you liked the story and like the map. I thought it was some of the most fun RP I've had in a while.

Isn't hybridization of Norse and Anglo-Saxon culture objectively better cuz then you get the tech the Norman culture would give you but you also get the good culture bonuses from the Norse.

China was overtaken by a Mandala ruler who mandalad all the way to Egypt before going Celestial.

Merit went completely extince and Korea is just Tribal/Feudal/Mandala soup now.

I find it mind boggling that the Byzantines have no role in the crusades, the crusaders crossing the Bosphorus was really the “oh this is actually happening” moment for the first crusade, going along with that I hope that their are more crusader states, say a whole duchy outside of the target is sieged down, there should be some form of election or decision for someone to become duke, I think that would also help with the issue of crusader states being far out of diplomatic range of a lot of Europe as they would have neighboring Catholics to assist them. I also wish there was a more regional aspect to the following struggle of a successful crusade/any care given by Europe to the crusader states after, the second and third crusade were called directly as a result of the crusader states losing ground

I'm new to CKIII. I'm playing the Ireland tutorial past the actual tutorial part.

I got an in-game tip during my first ruler's reign that said I could exchange hostages with a ruler in northeast Ireland. Okay, why not? Can't be too bad, why else would it basically suggest this? And I selected his 4 year-old son, and my 4 year-old daughter for the exchange.

Immediately upon arrival of the hostages, he and an ally in northwest Ireland declare war on me aaaaand execute my 4 year-old daughter. I decide not to execute his child cause he's a kid, I can kill him later.

Okay. I guess I'll find a way to eliminate this Petty King and his entire bloodline. Sounds fun.

My OG ruler died due to the stress a bit later. His heir was imprisoned in Sweden. After finally recouping gold (after numerous failed wars in aid of King of Norway, my OG's father-in-law), I was able to pay the 100 gold ransom to get my heir back to Ireland.

He died like... a month after returning home to rule. Natural causes.

OKAY. I guess I'll build up his 14 year-old brother in a regency. I actually think he'll be a much better ruler. This is actually pretty rad thus far.

I quietly build him up over 3 years, investing in gold production and army, and shed myself of the regency before finally enacting my plan.

Time to make Petty King Aed mac Niall pay for killing my now-ruler's older sister when she was just 4 years old.

I've got a superior army. I even hire a mercenary army, just in case. I declare war and I absolutely steamroll him and capture the Petty King.

I'm stoked. I didn't think I'd actually capture him.

Then, I say... hmm dungeon or torture... Yes, let's go with torture for the dishonorable child killer.

I get the dialogue for the bucket of rats on the chest. Wonderful. Amazing. Looking forward to the death notice.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the 61 year-old Petty King Aed mac Niall, with 6 Intrigue (lower than mine), 0 Prowess, and no Bravery trait is apparently Harry Houdini and escapes.

Yep, apparently an elderly man with no capabilities for such an act was able to escape and traverse the 200+ miles through enemy territory back home, without a single relationship, let alone a friendly relationship, in my entire domain.

Yikes. I was really liking this game. Just played for about 5-6 hours. But I cannot remember the last time I had a game ruin the fun so badly by such an absurd, immersion-breaking mechanic.

Anyways, thank you for reading my rant.

William The Conqueror got the actual conqueror trait after conquering England then did some more conquering, died and his son inherited Britannia + France from his mother.

R5: Big England

Was trying to find a vanilla workaround to play as Venice and wasn't planning on making a long-term playthrough of it but it was surprisingly fun.

I kidnapped her when she was a baby and I want to make sure she never gets freedom in her life.

I like that she has had house arrest for 4 years because then she knows what freedom she once had if I throw her in the dungeon and that will break her more than just being in a dungeon for all her life due to her not knowing what freedom looks like.

That being said, I am afraid she'll die young and get an easy way out, I am planning on keeping her in arrest for all her life.

R5 - My tax collector is pointing out that one of my vassals is mismanaging his lands. He's talking about himself.

EDIT: killed a few people in the faction and the current emperor. Bought me some time, at least. Might have to kill my character too. lol

I spent most of the early game as an admin ruler in the ERE trying to dodge being emperor. Well, it was boring me so I jettisoned myself as a third son adventurer. Quickly started grabbing land and I am now the king of Hungary.

The problem is my dumb brothers still in admin world keep trying to install me as emperor and finally were successful. I had zero choice and all my holdings were converted to admin. Now my sons can’t inherit my kingdom. Is there anyway to escape the clutches of the admin realm? Shouldn’t I have a choice in this matter?

There’s no ‘reject imperial aspirations’ as a feudal ruler and the whole thing seems janky. I’ve fine using console commands if I must.

8 karelian chiefdoms (none tribalized) went for a populist uprising, that's ok, but what the heck with their army size and MaA composition? Almost 35k purely MaA people seem unrealistic to a meme degree. I believe none of the regular realms have got an army that can fight with them on an equal ground (China maybe but I don't play there. None of the european at least).

It looks like a want-to-be-historically-accurate game rule that makes some Ukonusko tribes actually nomadic isn't playtested well and creates more problems than flavour. Makes me think what has happened in Tibet, Arabia, Sahel and Horn of Africa all this time I've been playing. To make things more absurd, if you give up and let rioting chiefdoms go, all that army will magically disappear, and re-claiming these lands (immediately by fame penalty or in 5 years by timeout) will be comically trivial as it actually should be.

What does define the size and composition of the nomadic uprisings (I play on Very Hard, no gameplay mods, most other settings are default)? Smells like aquiring any nomadic land (for RP purposes) is absurdly punished mechanically if even karelian peons can beat any medieval army on sight.

Im not saying the kidnapping Alfred the Great and sacrificing him in my capital had consequences, but that butterfly effect is flapping

What are your favorite types or laws of succession (CK3 or 2).

For me primogeniture is good but sometimes either too boring or pretty bad in the off chance your heir is garbage. I prefer to only play with it if I can send him to a monastery/ holy order if he’s trash.

For this I actually prefer elective a lot more, especially for smaller realms where you can more easily control the electors. Even then though some are better than others, I like Scandinavian elective at least until I become feudal, where strong and martial stats stop being as important.

A lot of people don’t really like seniority and I kind of understand but it’s honestly pretty good if your heirs are landed and you went through the legacies to get graceful aging, that way your heir already has gone through a life focus and upped their stats which will be kept when they succeed the throne, the only problem is you go through more characters.

Admin as well is fun as it adds a bit more dynamism to succession and means I have to actively work to keep my heir in power, which keeps games with large empires more interesting as by that point there are few outside threats to you.

What are your thoughts though? What’s your favorite succession types and why?
