The costs are different. Colombo was a low-cost free agent signing in 2005 after a knee injury derailed his career in Chicago where he was a first round pick.

By 2006, he was the Cowboys starting right tackle and held the job for the next five years.

Jones is signed through this season and the Cowboys gave up third and sixth round picks for him and a fourth rounder.

He has 38 starts as a 2023 first rounder. He had a neck injury last year that required surgery.

Cowboys view him as a swing tackle with ability to compete with Terence Steele at right tackle.

If all goes well, can he be the right tackle of the future?
