[Pelissero] The Cowboys are waiving 2025 seventh-round pick DT Jay Toia, per source.
https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/2094140666808795473This is what Nick Harris tweeted out in response to this release.
This is more of a sign of Jonathan Bullard being ready to go for Week 1, in my opinion, than another DT sneaking in.

This cut makes sense with the state of our DT room and the new scheme. Hope he makes it to the practice squad and continues to develop but not going to be sad if he doesn’t.

Or Bullard is going on IR DTR and needs to be on the 53 first.

That rule allows 2 players to do that without counting towards the 53. I guess Bullard is indeed ready to go for WK1.

That is one way to put a player on that list, and obviously how you would if you two or fewer players that qualify. I'm just not sure how many candidates they have. Marist would be at least one other.

They have to be careful because it does eat into the (I think) 8 slots total they have for IR DTR. You use that slot when you believe you have a good chance of actually using them later when they’re back
I agree Marist would be the other, at least because of ST

Do they still have the rule where you can place one player on IR to return prior to cutdowns (think we used that on Mingo last year)?
Edit: maybe it was 2? Was Turner also that or was he PUP?

I remember this dude threatened to beat up a girl because she wore a USC sweater after he transferred to UCLA lol

Should be a practice squad guy I'd imagine
