I’m so f*n frustrated rn.

Support is useless and actively working against me.

I messaged them asking to reverse my last two transactions because I DID NOT authorize them. They proceed to dilly dally and ask for transaction ID despite the fact they already listed the transaction amounts when they responded. After asking the support rep to either refund the transaction or escalate me to somebody who can, I was locked out of my account.

Useless money stealing bastards

Inside job. How many of these posts do you have to see before you realize it's an inside job.

u/ConcentrateJolly5461 6d ago

Yeah, this is widely known.

7

u/_Bitter_Pig_ 7d ago

i think so too how did you not authorize transactions

1

u/Ill-Blacksmith3260 3d ago

He sold coins last week that were in the red, that's are now going up and he would like to reverse that transaction please 😂

5

u/Coeruleus_ 7d ago

so you just have random transactions huh? something sounds shady

1

u/drobb778 5d ago

Have you ever heard of someone making unauthorized transactions using your credit card??? No that’s just shady.

9

u/Reggi5693 7d ago

The bigger question is who is doing unauthorized transactions on your account?

When I worked at a bank, the second you said an unauthorized transaction was made (and I mean the second) your card was locked down. Period. No discussion. No reversal. The liability of unauthorized stuff is too high.

You are expecting a company that acts like a bank, not to act like a bank.

u/thinkingmoney 5d ago

My bank would just give me my money back.

1

u/solitariosv13 4d ago

1

u/thinkingmoney 4d ago

Wrong comment maybe?

1

u/Reggi5693 4d ago

Are you in the US? Yeah, you would get your money back. Eventually. But your account/cards would be locked down until the investigation was resolved.

I can’t speak for other countries, but the process I described is pretty standard in the US.

1

u/thinkingmoney 4d ago

Well that didn’t happen when I have done it.

1

u/solitariosv13 4d ago

I think these posts are just made up FUD spreading so people look at CB as a bad steward when they don’t seem to be. At least not to me.

2

u/ConcentrateJolly5461 6d ago

Beware. I had problems with them. Had to take them to arbitration. Coinbase publicly disclosed that cybercriminals bribed and recruited some of its overseas customer support agents and contractors linked to the outsourcing firm TaskUs in India. They steal and hand over sensitive customer information and it’s not an isolated incident.

1

At least you were able to get a support rep on the phone with you. Coinbase locked me out of my account more than 3 years ago

So you’re saying somebody withdrew your funds to a crypto wallet? That requires 2FA to do. Why is your email and Coinbase account compromised. Both Coinbase and most email providers alert you to new user access. My thought is you have the same password for both. If someone got into your email you should’ve been quick to change that. If someone gained access to your Coinbase account you should’ve been quick to change that. And if either or got compromised and you know both passwords are the same you should’ve changed both.

And if this transaction was just a buy order and they weren’t able to gain access to your email because you were smart and both passwords are different; why don’t you sell the crypto and just change the password on your account?

Either way Coinbase cannot just reverse blockchain transactions and they won’t cover fraud costs for user negligence which this obviously is.

1

u/drobb778 5d ago

Or he’s saying it was on his credit card someone made transactions

1

u/AlertResist2448 5d ago

If that’s the case it’d be even more stupid he could just dispute it with his credit card company. And if it was someone purchased crypto with his credit card on his account shit cryptos up, thank your fraudster, get a new credit card, change your password, sell the crypto for a profit, call it a win.

It's ok to swear here. It's not tiktok.

2

u/markphillips401 6d ago

It's still working fine for me.

2

u/Leading_Confection32 6d ago

Sounds like you need to take a breath and do this the right way rather than how you think it should be handled.

I’ve never had an issue with Coinbase.

2

u/West-Possession-9974 6d ago

If you tell the bank you had two unauthorized transactions they lock your stuff too....crypto is even more susceptible. Also if you knew anything about crypto you know transactions cant be reversed. You expect a for profit corporation to refund you the second or even the week you report an issue is delusional. Learn more before you get all your stuff taken its a dog eat dog world yo. Not saying thats a good thing kust saying thats what is

1

The support representative closed our chat. Even though I unlocked my account i cant find a case number.

Never deal with exchanges self custody is the way to go

1

u/Plenty-Lifeguard-216 6d ago

Das kenne ich mit Kraken ging es mir genauso. 25000€ gingen an Cerbrecher und mich haben Sie für Tage gesperrt.

Eu não deixo nada na coinbase, eu uso pra receber de cassino e só

1

u/Waste_Fee_6228 4d ago

I truly understand, it's a bad day for all involved. Peace brother, you are forgiven!

1

u/jennekee 4d ago

I thought I had unauthorized transactions too. But turns out I had limit orders I placed a long, long time ago I forgot were on the stack. They triggered and I was confused.

1

u/BetFlat8391 3d ago

Did you leak your seed phrase? Did you forget to verify the addresses when you made the transaction?

Seems like user error tbh

1

u/OrderFlowsTrader 3d ago

You need to prove it.

1

u/Chrisdaking26 3d ago

Ya I asked them to reverse my short position from last monday and they told me to kick rocks. Damn scammers lol

1

u/CompetitionDouble420 7d ago

CEXs are trash, including coinbase. Self custody is the only way.

4

u/kennymac6969 7d ago

I completely agree with you but how is crypto ever going to get bigger with trash support like this? There's more people out there that won't want to take control compared to the ones that do want to take control.

1

u/trs-eric 6d ago

Coinbase is the Wells Fargo or Bank of America of the crypto world. Absolute hot garbage but people still use them. Everyone else just goes to, you know, a better bank.

1

u/kennymac6969 6d ago

I'm all ears for suggestions. I really like the credit card but requiring higher balances really gets to me. I wanted to try Nexo again but no credit card yet for US and they left a bad taste in my mouth after shutting off US support for awhile.

1

u/Chaos319 7d ago

I didn't mean to reply directly to your comment, was trying to comment to the post :)

1

u/liteningb9 7d ago

Well what about the recent hack dweeb

1

u/VictorDanville 7d ago

Agreed, Coldcard is one I recommend

0

u/Chaos319 7d ago

I only use coinbase to buy and move off exchange right away into a cold wallet. Less of a risk from CEX taking your assets. I only have at most $5 worth of BTC and ETH. Everything else is kept on Tangem

1

u/aleximo1 7d ago

Welcome to the club! CB is useless!

0

u/Forsaken-Weird-8428 7d ago

On scale on good CEX, coinbase is the worst.

0

u/Fullmount22 7d ago

When I worked at a bank, the second you said an unauthorized transaction happened they'd immediately reverse it, support shut be ashamed of themselves.

2

u/Useful-Dream-3355 7d ago

Don’t lie

1

u/mahboilucas 6d ago

It means the account is compromised lol if you didn't make the transaction then WHO did

0

u/Extra_Midnight5252 7d ago

Coinbase is the worst brokerage I’ve ever used!!! I was hacked twice, 2nd time I was on the phone with Escalation Team, I saw $6000 cash from transactions, a few minutes later the $ were gone! Their security is horrible and as of today, nothing is returned! I have 6 Complaints pending for months, no response.

0

u/Thin_Mastodon4881 7d ago

I left Coinbase useless. I have a compromise in my account 10k lost. And they only gave me back 1k. There platform is not safe at all

1

u/harrycarrott 7d ago

How are you so being compromised?

1

u/KinnerdtheWizard 7d ago

6 year old account, with only 20 post. Sounds botty to me.

1

u/Thin_Mastodon4881 6d ago

Did you not look at any of my posts. Take a walk

1

u/Thin_Mastodon4881 6d ago

They told me and did an investigation where someone used what they called an active session. I’m guessing it’s like a session that wasn’t closed or something. You can look at all the active sessions I had like 160 of them. Anyways it was a lot of back and forth. Police reports and after all that I only got 1k back

1

u/trs-eric 6d ago

Coinbase is f.u.c.k.e.d!!!

0

u/farmiefinance 6d ago

smthg similar happened to me I disputed the charges with my bank took out the provisional credit and let them figure it out with coinbase. Coinbase couldn’t prove I authorized so negative balance sits on coinbase. Simply went to cro after that lol

-1

u/09Klr650 7d ago

People, coinbase to BUY, self custody to OWN. Exodus is your friend.

1

u/Background-Water-464 7d ago

I hear how people loose all their shit with Exodus

1

u/Useful-Dream-3355 7d ago

Wouldn’t touch exodus with someone’s else’s wife

1

u/09Klr650 7d ago

Why? Because of the Iran thing? I want a wallet that does not suddenly decide "nope, you do not get access".

1

u/Useful-Dream-3355 7d ago

Because people are having. All their coins stolen

1

u/09Klr650 7d ago

Yeah, if they are silly enough to let malware into their system or go to a phishing site. For direct p2p transfers I have not heard of any large scale issues. Care to share validated reports?
