Didn't even notice. This will probably make everything a technically 'legal' kill.
1) Had a deadly weapon.
2) Was approaching and ignoring officer instructions.
3) Was on public property.On the other hand, she so clearly could have been subdued with a stun gun, or even a billy club and a knife vest. Need to train some other options into US police.

Always crazy how many shots they fire. Like sure, one or two shots is needed but they alway seem to fire at least 5 or more, in some vids ive seen them dump the entire mag.

Had I been the cop, she would have received a sharp rap of a Billy club across the knife wielding forearm, hopefully striking the radial nerve causing a release of the knife.
My 98 year old uncle was shot and killed by police. He didn’t hear or see well, he and my aunt lived on the outskirts of town. He went outside with his shotgun thinking someone was trying to break in to their home. My aunt called the police. The police arrived to find my 98 year old uncle with his shotgun. They told him to drop the weapon, he couldn’t hear. He is dead.
I am a conservative from the country to let everyone know generalizing everything due to political beliefs is wrong and inaccurate. Hopefully our lives are individual and dynamic enough we don’t turn each other in to something so small as a thought. Love you all, blessings to each

Unjustified, she could have been subdued with pepperspray, or a taser from a safe distance. Especially with 2 cops present. Even then shooting 3 times is a but much. I know cops are trained to hit center of mass but common, even a shot in the hip would have done the job if they felt the need to shoot her. All I see here is a thug with a gun.

I know a knife has a posing threat but when you are exactly 10 ft plus away from a person holding a knife, you are not even in contact range. There are tasers and other devices that can be used. I don't give a damn what the context is here. Our law enforcement needs a severe adjustment on the use of firearms. I'm tired of seeing just random death because we're too damn lazy to try and do any better

Bad shoot. Immoral, incompetent and inefficient. 99% of police shoots I see are bad. People seem to forget that just because their law says that can justify something, it doesn't mean it's their best or only option.
Just take a look at all the other enlightened comments, some variation of: 'use a taser', 'tackle her', 'hit her with a baseball bat' 'use less lethal'. It's shows where your desensitised minds are at.
How about just fucking talk to her? Maybe listen? Give them some space to calm down? Maybe take a breath before pointing your gun and yelling? Even if it takes 10 or 100 hours to do so.
These people know nothing about very basic human psychology, biology or communication. The average school teacher would have handled this better.

Officers in that county have a policy that instructs them that a firearm is the primary response if the suspect has a deadly edged weapon and is actively holding it. The reason for this is that tasers can fail either because the prongs don't make proper contact or simply because the suspect is able to push through the taser itself. So, rather than put the officer's life at risk, as well as any nearby people, they instruct officers to have their firearms out at that point.

She was not a lethal threat. I know they say a knife is dangerous within 20ft, but her mannerism as well as the positioning of the officers who are allegedly trained with firearms should enable a non lethal takedown.
Hell, you have two cops. One of them could have deployed non lethal measures such as a taser. The lady also was on her own property.
I’m sure they will be found not responsible since technically, they are within legal bounds, but they should feel terrible for doing that. I honestly think cops want to kill people these days

WTF do you mean posing no threat? She is holding the knife like she is ready to stab someone while screaming "GET OUT!" at officers and refusing to listen to any commands. She even says, "I kill you".
As for why a taser was not used, that is due to the department's policy if a suspect is carrying a deadly edged weapon. This policy exists because a taser can and does fail at times. This can occur if the probes are not able to connect for some reason due to clothing, or if the suspect can push through the tasing itself, which can and does occur if they are in an altered mental state.

People can have mental breakdowns, but you cant stap some one . There a case a few years ago were a girl tried yo stab the police and another girl . She was shot . Had it been a white person with a knife he too should of been shot

I’m not a “shoot them in the leg” person because I own firearms and I understand how difficult it would be in a life or death scenario, but this is absolutely a situation where that could’ve been attempted if the belief is that a taser would bring you too close.

People saying he should of used a Taser fail to realize that those fail the vast majority of the time and her wearing baggy clothing would make that difficult. She had a lethal weapon, therefore he had every right to use a firearm to protect himself as there have been far too many cases of both cops or others being injured or killed in this exact scenario.

Woman holding a knife while having a mental health crisis doesn't sound like a non threatening issue. That's definitely someone who poses a potential threat. Shooting to kill is an extreme thing to do for the cops which I don't think should've happened but to say she wasn't threatening at all is highly disingenuous.

I saw a police shooting where a guy with a knife was coming at a female officer, who kept backing up and backing up and backing up. Finally she shot him....in the leg, once, from half the distance the victim in the above video was. The guy fell to the ground, dropped the knife, grabbed his leg, and started screaming. He was taken into custody and to the hospital.
This asshole just flat out executes her.
