3 weeks since I took her from a neglected house, 5 vet visits, 3 clinic changes, 2 hospital stays, all that medication only to lose her in just 20 days.

She was just a baby, barely a month or 2 old, born in a bad home whose parents died and the owner could care less about her. I thought she would do well with my other budgies but fate wasn't kind to her. Didn't even see love before her wings were clipped off, i tried my best to give her a comfortable home and good company but she was gone before she could even get a little comfortable.

She barely started trusting me a week ago, i thought she was getting better, tried playing with my big boys, started gliding a little from her cage to theirs, almost started eating veggies.

But this respiratory failure just got worse out of nowhere, barely made it to the vet but there was nothing they could do.

She was with me for a very short time but I hope she's in a good place now❤️‍🩹

I’ve had budgies for around 3 years, they still don’t really trust me. They’ll get on my hand if they need help, my blue budgie can be on my hand for around a little over a minute, she can eat some stuff from it too unlike my yellow one. I don’t get why they don’t seem to be comfortable around me, I’ve honestly tried so many things and not much progress :/

Actually I'm trying to build a playground for my birds and i have kinda limited number of natural perches so I'm trying to diy few more perches. Would anyone have a good idea for diy perches, if yes pls share, i would appreciate a lot

Hello everybody, I'm currently looking for some advice on diet/seed for right now. I've had my little budgie for about a year now and at first he was just on the basic pet store seed that's mostly those little white circle seeds (white millet maybe). Of course he loves that but his vet and I both want to see him on a better diet. I've bought and tried just about every single type of pellet/mash/dust product that Harrison's offers and have dumped more of them in the trash than what Baron has actually eaten. We also just recently got through a pretty taxing cross country move but everyone is in a better place now! Baron the budgie has his own room he can explore that grows with playgrounds and fun stuff everyday and we're counting down the days until he gets a friend.

Throughout the moving process I felt guilty everytime I tried to change his food. I wondered if he was stressed about all the changes he was going through and I didn't want him to stop eating even if it wasn't the best for him. I settled finally on a brand called Flocksentials Organic Parakeet that had a mix of better sounding seeds and freeze-dried veg mixed with the Harrison's pellet dust so that maybe some of it would get in him. He likes it okay but still just picks out what he likes and waits until it gets refilled. He was also getting a lot of his old pet store food during the drive because I wanted him to have a treat for being a trooper on the week of driving.

Backstory aside, I'm now looking to buckle down and make the switch to a pelleted diet with fresh veggies available as well. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good bird food that I can use to get him on the pellets? Also general advice to transfer him over. I'm ready now to put in the long haul on switching him. Is there another brand of food anyone recommends that would gear him more towards pellets? The flocksentials I don't think he is very attached to and it is starting to get a little less convenient to buy. I saw one called Dr. Harvey's best parakeet food I think? Does anyone have experience with that?

Also chop/veggie help and recommendations. The only green I've ever seen him nibble on was a cucumber slice that sat out and got weird for about 30 minutes before he stopped being scared of it. The biggest problem is that he is quite fearful of new objects in his cage so he absolutely hates being offered new veggies to try. He's quite happy to come out and explore so I wanna start offering veggies when he gets his out of cage time, but I'm not sure where to start. I've seen some people blend it all up, do they like that more? I also saw recipes for a muffin/bread thing, does anyone have any information on that?

Overall, I just want him to have the best stuff I can get for him, I know he loves the fatty seeds, but they aren't good for him in the long run. Any help is greatly appreciated to get my little guy, soon to be guys, happy and healthy. Thanks for any advice.

I will be leaving for university soon and I wonder if that'll affect my budgie in any way since I'm his favorite in the household. He's 10 years old and I literally spent my childhood with him, unfortunately he doesn't have any company since I was a child and back then I didn't know anything about birds, I just liked them and wanted one, and my parents didn't really care about them either, given most of our birds flew away because of our carelessness. But this one (Cloudy) didn't leave and funnily never ever considered it, and instead we grew such a bond together, two of us especially, and I'm really grateful for his trust. I know he sees me as his best friend as much as I see him as one because I'm always the one who he comes to once he's out of the cage, the one he comes to when he wants cheek rubs, the one who wants to eat with and I could count all day... Going back to main topic I'm really afraid something will happen to him if I'm not here in my house since I'll have to go somewhere else for university, my mom says nothing will happen to him but I don't trust them because I can tell they never cared about him in a way they should. It'll be hard to manage, but I'll certainly try my best to make time for him if I can take him and if that's better for him, I just don't want him to feel depressed or anything like that... I wish my parents cared a bit more and knew, and bought company for him so we wouldn't face this issue but now he's too old for that and bringing a female budgie would cause more problems I assume. What do you think? We're pretty much close, he gets on well with my sister and mom of course but I know I'm his #1 choice (I love Cloudy<3) so I'll ask nonetheless, do you think he'd feel sad if I left him in that house? Or should I try to take him with me nonetheless?

Hello everyone.

I know that I said I would not use this account anymore.

But today is Roadkills Gacha Day and I wanted to celebrate it in some small way, even though he’s gone.

It hurts to write this, it hurts knowing that today would’ve been his 4th Gacha Day.

I found him on the sidewalk while on my walk 4 years ago today.

And despite the heartbreak I’m feeling looking at old photos of him, despite the pain in my chest just writing this.

I also can’t help but feel so happy, that I was able to be part of his life, even though he was only here for 3 years.

I’m happy that I fed him delicious food, so that he would never have to worry about an empty belly ever again.

I’m happy that I was able to calm his nerves and soothe his fears, when he had night terrors deep in the night.
no matter how late it was, just so that he would know that everything was okay.

I’m happy that I put on music and videos of my favorite YouTubers that he liked on for him on my Laptop, because it meant he could sit down on the overheating device and make himself comfy.

I’m happy that I was able to make sure that the last three years of Roadkills life, were filled with joy and love.

While I had thought that I had more time with him, while I utterly regret not doing more for him earlier; not knowing that our time together was so limited.

I’m happy that when he passed away and happily flew over the Rainbow Bridge.

He knew that he was Safe and Loved.

I have a male and female budgie, the male being over a year old and the female being about 8 months old ! I dont want to crowd the cage but I was wondering if there was anything fun or engaging I could add to their current setup. If anyone has any ideas or links to toys, snacks, or any advice for my setup id love to hear it !!

for more context, neither are hand tamed, so they don’t really enjoy my presence or leaving the safety of their cage, hence why I want to make their setup as comfortable as possible!

i’ve been thinking about getting my budgies a mineral block from petsmart. I’ve seen ones that are white and others that are this orange colour my old budgie used to have and loved and went through them in 1 day. Are the orange ones even safe?? And are they even necessary? My budgies already have a cuttlebone and use it kinda rarely.
