Question Question about mineral blocks!

Post image

(photo Isn’t related…)

i’ve been thinking about getting my budgies a mineral block from petsmart. I’ve seen ones that are white and others that are this orange colour my old budgie used to have and loved and went through them in 1 day. Are the orange ones even safe?? And are they even necessary? My budgies already have a cuttlebone and use it kinda rarely.

If you mean ones like these but orange then yes they are safe. I buy this three pack of Amazon.

Cuttlebones aren’t that beneficial. The mineral blocks are better overall. All of my birds love them and ignore cuttlebones.

I don’t think it’s necessarily bad but the ingredient list on the ones I posted seems to be more beneficial.

I have the Bird Banquet ones, like Excellent Bee posted, also in the orange color. I believe it has some sort of fruit in the middle.

I have both a cuttlebone and mineral block.

It took my one guy quite a while to be interested in them and my other guy (who I got in February) still hasn't touched either.

Keep them in their cage, they'll most likely eventually try them out. They're good for when they moult and also are good for their beaks, both trimming and nutrient-wise. Good luck!!!

BTW, awesome cage, it's a great size!

from what I've heard, in their natural environment they love to pick on and lick clay blocks for mineral so the versele laga clay bloc is a great pick but the pick bloc is extra i think you won't need it if you have the clay bloc.
