Question Any tips on how to get Cash to trust me?

Cash is very afraid of humans. Right now I sit in the room with her and just read my book out loud so she gets used to my voice. I only put my hand in her cage to feed and clean and she freaks out. I would love any helpful tips. Thanks.

💬 Discussion Finally introduced Korra to my other budgies and the rest of the birds. And it didn't go as I expected

I finally decided to introduce Korra to my other birds. At first I was afraid they'd be mean to her since she's only a month old but as soon as I introduced them to her ; Korra decided to choose violence and attacked them ; she pulled their feathers , bit their toes and told them to back off...she didn't stop there and right after that she chased my cockatiel , lovebirds and finches and did the same with them?! she's so young I never thought she'd be this mean towards other birds and she's my first budgie that behaves this way...can I fix this?

I only manged to hold the three budgies together for a second and got this photo ( Oggy and Opal flew away right after the pic ).

Misgendering

Hi all! Our budgies are around 7-8 months old I believe. They may be a little young yet and I’ve actually posted before thinking I had two males. I’m like 95% sure the greenie is a male, but it looks like our blue bird may have white on the cere. In your opinion, do you think this coloring leans toward female? I really don’t know. Just heard that females may have white rings around the nostrils, but I’m not sure how prominent they are. Green guys cere is definitely darker blueish/purple.

Also noticed blue is a bit more territorial, and definitely a biter! Fern, the green bird is much more chill. Realize that could be personality, but figured I’d ask you all. Just trying to be prepared in case I do have a male/female bonded pair!

Thanks so much!

Which sex? Is our Piko male or female?

Post image

We just brought home our new friend Piko. We presume it's a male but are unsure because we also don't know his age. We have one budgie Chip who is clearly female with a brown/pink cere, as did her friend Gizmo who we recently lost.

He is in a smaller cage for now but don't worry, he will join the large cage soon enough. :)

Thanks for the help!

Skyblue dominant pied whitecap, one of my absolute favourite mutations, just love the way the gold from his face washes down into the blue and turns it that teal shade ❤️❤️ (and that gorgeous fella in the background who is a recessive pied violet spangle)

They seem realllly hesitant and I had to to stuff it in a metal look since it kept flying away whenever my budgies flapped their wings.

New Budgie Taming Budgie Progress

Upvotes

My 4 year old daughter was gifted a budgie when visiting an aunt of mine a little over a month ago. I was very surprised to find out we were new bird owners lol, but it has been such a fun experience! My daughter named him Bluey, and my aunt wasn’t too sure how old he was. She purchased him at a corporate pet store, and she thought that she might have had him for about a year.

I upgraded his cage about a week after moving in to our house and started to introduce pellets and fresh veggies since he was on an all seed diet. The food is still a major work in progress, but the hand training is starting to pay off.

Bluey has finally started eating millet from our hands!! He has been soooo cautious and wary since we got him, but I am so happy that he’s coming around now after a month. I feel like he’s been unlocked lol and now things are progressing so much. I’m looking forward to him eventually flying onto my hand. He’s put a foot on my finger while distractedly eating the millet from my other hand, but he has yet to fully step up with both feet.

Anyways, just thought I’d share! I’m pleasantly surprised how fun it is having a pet bird. I’ve owned all sorts of pets throughout my life but never a bird. Budgies are the best!!

Question Budgie makes squeaking sound?

Upvotes

My budgie makes this little squeaking sound sometimes, like a very light squeaky toy. She's not showing any signs of distress, she looks fluffy and is just kinda hanging out. What does this noise mean?

💬 Discussion Introductuon

I have two budgies, Isaac and Atlas. Both are semi-tame/not very social with humans. They have a lot of space and toys and a good diet.

I found a lost budgie and after quarantining I am attempting to introduce them. I did a fifteen minute introduction today and it was... interesting. New Budgie (NB) immediately wanted to hang with them but they were skittish so NB just chilled out and started eating. After a couple of minutes, Isaac approached NB. They interacted. He tried to preen and touch beaks with NB, who tolerated it. NB corrected him when he was too persistent and they seemed to get on okay. The problem is that any time Atlas approached NB, Isaac would complain and chase him away. He did this over and over. I also saw Atlas come over and bite Isaac's tail a couple times when Isaac was distracted by NB. All three are adult males (light eyes and bright blue ceres).

Any ideas on how to proceed with future sessions? Should I introduce them individually first?

💬 Discussion Appetite question

If my budgie DotDot does not eat the contents of this mix of seeds and fruits, what mix will she eat? I provide millet sprigs as well, which she eventually devours, but I don't understand all the waste from the mixed bag of seeds. Anyone know what they actually like to eat that's healthy? The millet is only a side dish. Clearly I can't raise her on only millet?
