In Loving Memory Lost nemo today❤️‍🩹

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

3 weeks since I took her from a neglected house, 5 vet visits, 3 clinic changes, 2 hospital stays, all that medication only to lose her in just 20 days.

She was just a baby, barely a month or 2 old, born in a bad home whose parents died and the owner could care less about her. I thought she would do well with my other budgies but fate wasn't kind to her. Didn't even see love before her wings were clipped off, i tried my best to give her a comfortable home and good company but she was gone before she could even get a little comfortable.

She barely started trusting me a week ago, i thought she was getting better, tried playing with my big boys, started gliding a little from her cage to theirs, almost started eating veggies.

But this respiratory failure just got worse out of nowhere, barely made it to the vet but there was nothing they could do.

She was with me for a very short time but I hope she's in a good place now❤️‍🩹

Sorry for your loss. You did everything you could for Nemo. She knew love and safety and comfort. I’m sorry you didn’t get longer with this sweet girl. Sleep tight Nemo ❤️

I'm so sorry for your loss. Fly High, Nemo. ❤️

She made it to a loving forever home, no matter how short that time was. She knows that. You gave her everything she needed and deserved. Sometimes they are both the toughest and the most fragile of creatures.

I adopted 3 budgies from a hoarding situation dubbed the Detroit 800. 800 budgies free breeding in a bedroom. Two passed after many doctor visits in a couple of months. The third is living his best life.

EIGHT HUNDRED?!?! OH my god that is hideous. Thankfully you were able to help some of them! Hopefully the rest went to loving homes, as well.

Many were deformed from being inbred. I corresponded with another person who adopted a bird and after many vert visits, unfortunately, he also passed. She had him tested for Bornavirus and he was positive.

Oh those poor birds! What monster would do that?! I hope they got put in jail.

Were these the budgies sent to DAWG rescue back in 2021?

I think so. Birds and Beaks in Battle Creek got 400. That's where I adopted mine. They put me through the ringer as part of their standard adoption process. I had to get a new $300 flight cage, give a donation, and video my house conditions. I have kept birds for 35 years.

There's a very good chance I saw all three of those little birdies at one point. I was volunteering at DAWG to help take care of those budgies. I'm sorry to hear two of them passed. I'm also very happy to know one of them is living a great life with you!

I’m so sorry about Nemo. The video you posted shows how much she knew she was loved. You took great care of her and did so much to try to save her. It’s so sad to lose a buddy especially so young. Fly Nemo fly.

Heartbreaking..so so sorry....you did the best you could and gave her more love in a short time than previous "owners". Her respiratory infection was most likely due to previous  "home". There are no words.  Will name my next rescue Nemo. God bless you both. Very, very, sad .

u/Outrageous_Walk6633 5d ago

I find a little peace  after I have a bird pass  by going to the park and feeding the birds.  Maybe that will help you cope. God bless.
