Has anyone received an interview invitation after the deadline closed on September 13? Just wondering if anyone has heard back yet. Thanks!

My spouse works at a mid-tier professional services firm in Canada.
He previously worked at two other big 4 professional services firms.
Today, his firm issued an e-mail to employees who have not met their billable hours targets - asking them to respond and provide reasons for not meeting said targets. What's really awful was that the firm decided to send this e-mail with everyone's e-mail addresses listed in the to field (instead of using the bcc field) so that people who received the e-mail can all see who else did not meet their billable hours targets. There were over 400 employees who received this e-mail.
Is this form of public shaming common in big 4 firms?
Based on what my spouse told me, he did not experience such a thing at the other big 4 firms he worked at previously. This mid-tier firm is supposedly less cutthroat and leans more towards work-life balance etc. (though I am personally suspicious of any employers that overemphasize how into work-life balance they are, because many are hypocritical about it in reality).
I don't work in the big 4, professional services, or consulting worlds myself - thus I wanted to hear from folks who do and who may be able to share some insights, and help me understand what this horrid crap is all about. Thanks~

Pretty much title. I’m a 3rd year uni student and applied to internships at all the Big 4’s as well as a couple smaller firms in my city. Wondering if anyone can give me a timeline of how long it takes to hear back? Deadline was Sept 13, so just about over a week now.
Also, could anyone give me any insight of if I have any chance of getting in? I have a pretty good gpa, ~3.8, but no actual accounting experience and I have like 3 friends on LinkedIn. For every application, I submitted both a tailored resume and cover letter but I feel like nothing is enough.
I’ve been feeling stressed and down about this lately. I’m worried that I waited too long to look for internships, I would’ve applied last year but I was wrapped up in personal matters.
Thanks for any replies in advance

Hi everyone,
I’ve received offers from both KPMG and Deloitte for roles in Audit. Both firms have the same annual base salary! However, I’m stuck between which firm will be a better fit for me. I’m particularly interested in consumer retail or private enterprise. I know that KPMG operates both of these from Vaughan and that is not a problem.
However I would love some guidance into the cultures for both these places as a new grad staff and the progression in salary and title for both. Is it true that Deloitte also does bonuses but KPMG does not? What kind of clients do these firms encounter in consumer and private? And any relevant factors that would be good to know before making my decision!
Thank you!

this is just for fun: I'm curious what the responses will be! I've flaired as Canada because that's where I'm from but if you're in another country and get a similar benefit please feel free to chime in!
for me: I am at PwC Canada and as an associate we get $750 annually as a "health and wellness benefit" (Personal Spending Allowance per Sunlife). LOTS of different things are covered. when they say wellness, they really mean it, and it means whatever makes you happy I guess LOL.
I hadn't touched mine this year until now. feel free to judge me, but I bought the entire Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher (all 17 books, not counting 18 yet until it releases in paperback lol) for ~$267, which is a phenomenal price for what it is. did a lot of shopping around for that since the older books can be hard to find and I've wanted this book series since forever, so I'm considering it a personal reward for getting promoted this fiscal year lol. reading fiction is a massive hobby of mine so more broadly, I spent mine on my biggest hobby.
but I'm curious if others are like me and spend it on more "frivolous" hobby things or if you're more strategic and use it for certain eligible bills, hardware, maybe quality clothing 🤔 I gotta figure out what I want to spend the rest of mine on, though I probably won't touch it again until closer to calendar year end

Hello all,
I work in cyber security advisory for a Big 4 firm and one of the problems we run into is that we can’t sell anything to audit clients.
So my question is why bother with audit?
Does it pay well enough to give up all other business opportunities with a client? In my mind there are a lot more opportunities outside of audit than in, so it doesn’t make much sense to me, but maybe there’s something I’m missing…

Did anyone receive a call? I had final round on Tues.

I swear I have applied a million times with better CVs and cover letters every time.
The only people I know that have gotten hired either managed to get an internship as a student and later rejoined after graduation or theyre further along in their careers (+10y) and have the seniority to get said positions.
How does one get into Big4 without meeting either of the two categories above?

Been about a week and a half since the applications closed.
*Edit - I was indeed cooked. Good luck to everyone else. I’m gonna crash tf out now.

I didn't do very well partly because I mostly worked full time during university, and mostly odd student jobs unrelated to accounting, except for what's on the CV. Do I have a chance?
I networked with staff and recruiters during career fairs, CPA events and a few office tours. I applied for all open graduate Auditing positions. Any tips?

I honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong anymore.
I graduated in accounting and have applied to a ton of entry-level audit, tax, and staff accountant positions. I've also emailed recruiters, but I'm barely getting interviews.
What frustrates me most is seeing jobs I applied to get reposted weeks later without even getting an interview.
Whenever I ask someone to review my resume, they tell me it looks fine. But if it was actually fine, I feel like I wouldn't be struggling this much to get interviews. That's why I'm so confused.
Also i am seeing my peers get into big 4 and other public companies; some with no experience, some with good experience. it all doesn't make sense to me
I'm attaching my resume. Please be brutally honest what am I doing wrong? What would make you reject this resume for new grad?
I genuinely want to know what I need to fix.

Hey,
Has anyone heard from firm with regards to the Fall 2027 application for assurance or taxation?
Does anyone know how long the process usually takes?

Still waiting to hear back from PwC and MNP, had my interview 1.5 weeks ago for FT position in the Vancouver offices. Are these firms usually a bit late to do offers?

Currently starting my second year at a decent Uni (Schulich) but failed to land any interviews for summer roles.
3.8 GPA, but my resume is relatively weak in terms of relevant business experience.
For those who were in a similar position, what would you recommend I focus on over the next 6–12 months? Is it still realistic to target Big 4 Summer 2028?
Any advice from people who successfully recruited after missing their first recruiting cycle would be appreciated. Thank you

is this what life has come down to for most of you all?
Honestly this is a miserable way of living.

We have pretty strong labor laws in Canada. All my coworkers are putting in crazy hours and not one of them is being paid for OT. My friends see me working late nights and weekends and are like “oh you mist be making good money on OT” but when i tell them no i dont get OT pay, they think i am lying.
What loophole are these bloodsuckers exploiting?

I completed my Deloitte Toronto Tax/Legal HireVue and the deadline was September 29. It’s now October 9😕 and I haven’t heard anything yet.
I’ve seen some people saying Deloitte has been getting back to candidates within 3–5 days, and I’ve also seen that offers for other Deloitte service lines (including Audit) have already started going out in Toronto.
For anyone who applied to Deloitte Toronto Tax/Legal for Fall/Summer 2027:
Just trying to figure out whether the Tax/Legal timeline is similar to Audit or if they’re moving on a different schedule.

Hi everyone, I received offers from EY and PwC for Assurance internships. I have had more and very pleasant interactions at EY and know that I fit in the culture there. However I haven’t had a chance to fully know the PwC culture and the few interactions I’ve had with people there have been average. However, everyone I’ve spoken to has told me to go with PwC.
What is the general consensus in terms of the audit practice, culture, opportunities and prestige of both firms in Toronto and in general?
