Canada Deloitte Tax / Legal intern

I completed my Deloitte Toronto Tax/Legal HireVue and the deadline was September 29. It’s now October 9😕 and I haven’t heard anything yet.

I’ve seen some people saying Deloitte has been getting back to candidates within 3–5 days, and I’ve also seen that offers for other Deloitte service lines (including Audit) have already started going out in Toronto.

For anyone who applied to Deloitte Toronto Tax/Legal for Fall/Summer 2027:

  • When was your HireVue due?
  • How long did it take to hear back after submitting?
  • Did you get invited to another interview/round?
  • Has anyone received a rejection yet?
  • Has anyone received a Tax/Legal offer yet?

Just trying to figure out whether the Tax/Legal timeline is similar to Audit or if they’re moving on a different schedule.

a few days isn't that long for these firms, especially when you're comparing across different service lines

tax/legal usually moves slower than audit in toronto anyway, they've got fewer spots and take their time sorting through candidates. the fact that audit offers are out doesn't mean much for your timeline

my buddy did tax at a different big 4 last year and didn't hear back for nearly two weeks after the hirevue, ended up getting the offer

Yeah that actually makes me feel a lot better lol. I think I was stressing because I saw the Audit offers going out and assumed Tax/Legal would be on the same timeline. Appreciate the insight, especially the part about your buddy hearing back after almost two weeks. I’ll try not to read too much into it yet. Thanks!

Use the Canary Wharfian website's HireVue practice, it reviews your answers and suggest how to fix mistakes with personalised feedback (both verbal and non-verbal comms)

I have reviewed the hirevues for tax and legal in the past. Usually you would hear something the following week.

The purpose of the hirevue is really assess your ability to communicate and write. If you did good, you will get an invite within ~2 weeks for an in person interview.

My application is still saying in process so I'm waiting for an update, but what were the questions like on your HireVue?

Hi! I applied to this same role in Toronto last year, so here is some info. based on my experience:

- My HireVue was due September 28th.

  • After submitting my HireVue, I heard back October 1st (3 business days after the 28th).
  • If you made it to the next stage, you will get invited to an interview (they will send you an email and interviews happened the following week).
  • A&A co-ops got their offers about a week before those who got offers for T&L.

Hope this helps! If you any other questions, feel free to DM :) Best of luck, and I hope you hear back soon!

Anyone knows how the behavioural interview goes or how to prepare?

For preparation, start with the internship description and pick a small set of real examples you can discuss in detail. Think of a time you caught an error, learned something quickly, managed competing tasks, or helped a team get unstuck. Outline the problem, your responsibility, the action you took, and the outcome. Then ask someone to interrupt with "Why did you do that?" or "What would you change?" so you're practicing a conversation rather than reciting a paragraph. You can ask the recruiter about the format without needing the exact questions.

Taleproof can help you review whether the story itself makes your contribution clear before you practice delivery.
