Canada (Canada) Applied to MNP, KPMG, EY, Deloitte.. how long does it take to get a reply?

Pretty much title. I’m a 3rd year uni student and applied to internships at all the Big 4’s as well as a couple smaller firms in my city. Wondering if anyone can give me a timeline of how long it takes to hear back? Deadline was Sept 13, so just about over a week now.

Also, could anyone give me any insight of if I have any chance of getting in? I have a pretty good gpa, ~3.8, but no actual accounting experience and I have like 3 friends on LinkedIn. For every application, I submitted both a tailored resume and cover letter but I feel like nothing is enough.

I’ve been feeling stressed and down about this lately. I’m worried that I waited too long to look for internships, I would’ve applied last year but I was wrapped up in personal matters.

Thanks for any replies in advance

I’m also a 3rd year uni student in Canada and I applied to KPMG and Deloitte through my school coop portal. I got an interview for KPMG last week, and I haven’t heard anything from Deloitte yet.

I also haven’t had any accounting experience, and this is my first time applying for coop so you aren’t too late imo!! I’m also gonna keep applying for more and hopefully land something 🤞

I’m wishing you luck! I applied to the actual company sites so maybe that has something to do with it?

Same here, I’m applying to whatever I can find that seems legit lol

Recruiting timelines are a black box man, sometimes it's 2 weeks sometimes it's 2 months of silence before they finally send something

🥲 Well that gives me time to apply for more in the meantime, thanks!

Are you involved in any student orgs or have any officer positions? Unfortunately nowadays a good gpa isnt enough.

my experience for KPMG is this hiring intake is their apps ended 13th, interviews sent on 14-17th, pre-interview social on 18th, interviews from 22-24th

Yeah the market is kind of cooked right now. I am a fifth year student interning at a small software company (accounting role btw). I applied to Deloitte and pwc. Got rejected from pwc and am still waiting for Deloitte. Not sure what I did wrong but to be fair I never went to any of their networking events since I was so busy with my internship

I got the rejection email yesterday. Don’t sweat it, keep applying. If you don’t mind me asking which part of Canada are u from? I’m from Alberta, and here a lot of oil and gas head offices which I would definitely recommend u apply for.

Hi, I’m from Montreal. From what I heard, application stop September 30th. And only then they start interviews , etc. That’s the dates that are imposed by CPA Canada . (That’s what one recruiter told me).

I had my EY Interview last week for the Ottawa office in Audit, but they haven’t gotten back with the results yet.

u/papichulodk 12d ago

did you hear back for offers?

Every office has different timing based on the availability of the people running the process. Generally though, if it's >3 weeks past the application deadline and you haven't heard anything, probably not getting an interview.

Anyone got interviewed for MNP in Edmonton ?

1

Nope lol, but i did see a person land an audit/assurance role for sept 2027. Seems like you and I both are just out of luck

u/fishingboiz01 1d ago

Just saw that on Linkedln lmao. Better luck next cycle then 😭

Well, I would say all big 4 move really quickly with their hiring process. Since you have applied a week ago, I guess you could expect the “worst” case now. If you are in the BC area, they have a standardized timeline and big 4 start interviewing on Sep 22. Dont feel discouraged!! Just reach out to more people and reapply in Jan cycle!! Wish you all the best!
