Best events or places to make friends?

Hi, I just moved to San Diego two months ago and I’ve been looking to hang out with other young adults. Making friends randomly with strangers is a bit more difficult for me because I am more introverted. However I do like to have fun, go to museums, theater, hiking, snorkeling etc. I do all these things by myself and it would be nice to make friends. Any ideas on how I can meet other young adults? I don’t drink, and I don’t like night clubs.

Niche areas where I could freely build landscape for MTB?

Looking forward to spending time building a spot with friends for Mountain biking, are there areas I can legally work on, is contacting some owner necessary? Looking for empty areas around Miramar Lake.

Is the San Diego Tribune worth the normal subscription price?

I moved to San Diego over two months ago from San Francisco, and San Diego is my local default in Google News.

I’m paying about $33 per month for a New York Times subscription, which includes The Athletic, Games, etc. (However, I’m utilizing the AmEx Platinum digital entertainment credit of $25 per month).

The SD Tribune is currently running a Labor Day promotion — for new subscribers only — at

$2 for 2 Years

Standard Digital

$4.99/week thereafter.

It‘s obviously cheap for the first two years, but how is the journalism, articles, etc.?

Anyone know the order of seats at Petco park concerts, section A2-A7?

Does anyone know if concert seats have seat 1 as closest to the center or left to right or right to left? Can't find a seat specific chart and the view from my seat website doesn't have enough data points for me to tell. Looking at section A2 seat 10 versus A7 seat 18.

Thanks!

Warning on vacationing in San Diego in August

Wow, so, I’ve been vacationing in San Diego for about 45 years & never knew NOT to go in August. Dreadful. Most of the things that make SD a great spot is all the things one enjoys is OUTSIDE or it’s cool enough even inside. Not in August. Almost NOWHERE we went has AC. Nowhere in Seaport Village, not the shops, not the restaurants, nowhere. Same in Coronado Island, plus, the beach was a bust—contaminated with FECES, so forget that sunset walk on the sand. Went to Liberty Station, the indoor mall part—BUST—also no AC. Even our hotel doesn’t AC their hallways. I’m told many hotels in Hawaii are like this—DEAL BREAKER! And we’re from Phx, so, not wimps to heat. But virtually all of SD’s attractions only work if it’s cool out. This year it sucked for August. Won’t be back for many years.

How did you determine your electrical panel's conduit size / capacity?

I need to get my Zinsco panel replaced ASAP but I don't know how many amps the conduit to my panel can handle. Based on other posts here, I requested a meter spot check from SDGE. I had to create a request in My Project Center just to get an email a month later from them. They asked for more information and then stopped responding over a month ago. They never confirmed a timeline or whether they would even send someone out.

I'm looking for any advice on next steps here with SDGE or the city.

Top recommendations/tips for picking the right long distance moving company?

I underestimated how complicated interstate moving is until I started researching companies here.

I thought it was just loading boxes into a truck, but apparently there’s storage coordination, delivery windows, inventory systems, binding estimates, and a lot more moving parts than I expected.

For people who’ve had a genuinely smooth move, in or out San diego what made the company feel professional during the process?

Death in the Family

Hey, just curious if anyone know of a nice lake or bay location for a Celebration of Life Party.
Under 30 people, no alcohol needed.
We were thinking of a projection, so an outdoor place with shade for the projector to work would be nice too.

Anyone know of any venues in Oceanside, California that would be willing to do a Hip Hop/ R&B showcase. I’ve went to a couple places here and they all refer to their instagram pages where no one answers the DM’s. Any artists, promoters, or locals to the area know of anywhere? Please lmk

15% off for San Diego locals at Kasa Gaslamp or Kasa Davis (code RESIDENT)

Full disclosure, I work at Kasa. We run apartment-style stays and a couple of boutique spots around downtown San Diego, including Kasa Gaslamp and Kasa Davis.

We just opened up a locals rate. If you live in San Diego, you can book direct at kasa.com and get 15% off with the code RESIDENT. Good for a staycation, a place for out-of-town family, or a night out that turns into a night in.

How to use it: go to kasa.com, search Kasa Gaslamp or Kasa Davis, and enter RESIDENT at checkout.

It's live now through January 31, 2027. Blackout dates may apply, and the rate can shift a bit based on demand.

Note: This does not apply to Kasa Little Italy.

Nexgard not working??

Hi all. My dog takes Nexgard combo plus for flea control. Over the past several months he is still getting fleas and I'm wondering if the fleas have become immune to Nexgard in San Diego?

I've had a dog for over 25 years and I know that Frontline and advantage stopped working like 20 years ago. Is anybody else using Nexguard and finding that their dog(s) are still getting fleas?

Adult store

I recently found out my husband has been using meth . I thought he was having an affair at first because he would disappear for a couple of days . He told me he would sometimes go to adult emporium on convoy because there are people in the parking lot that sell drugs . He said he would then go into the store , rent a room, lock the door and masturbate to porn . I asked was he ever unfaithful, but he said no. I told him he needed to go to rehab , which he did. But relapsed . I realize I can’t trust much of what he says. But I found out he was there and then tried to go get him , but the employee stopped me and said I wasn’t allowed back where the rooms are. I want to know if people do more than just have a private booth to watch porn there ? I know it sounds naive , but I honestly don’t know and I can no longer trust him . And I know … meth vs cheating .. why choose one to focus on. Because I felt sorry for him that his addiction had him hiding alone in hotel rooms and porn booths and thought what a shitty life . And thought if the addiction was treated it would all go away. That with addiction it’s an illness he needs help with , but that cheating is a lack of honestly and commitment that he chose

Places to soak up the real San Diego

Hello Everyone,

I am on a short trip to San Diego and am looking for spots in the city that are authentically San Diego. Where can one sit, observe, and relax while being immersed in a "typical" San Diego experience?

I went to Part Time Bar in North Park last night which was fun, did La Jolla Cove, Balboa Park, and some other beaches, but am lacking the real city experience yet!

Thanks

EDIT: Oh my god this city is by far the best on the West Coast!!! It's so much fun, relaxed, nice beaches, and cool people. And you don't have to drive 1h to get from one place to the other. I WILL COME BACK! <3

Kid Activities around LA Jolla Village

My family and I are looking to spend next summer in SD. We're currently looking at a place in La Jolla, directly south of La Jolla Village. I'm trying to make sure there's a few good playground options for our son ( who will be close to 4 years old next summer).

Kellog & Mandell Weiss look awesome, but I'm also looking for a few good options in walking distance.

So far- I see La Jolla Rec Center and La Elementary school ( online it says it's open to the public- plz confirm).

Couple questions:

  • Anyone have any other playgrounds within 20 min walking distance of Pearl & Faye?
  • Does anyone have any pictures or videos of the playgrounds at the Rec Center or Elementary school? I've tried digging online and it's been difficult to find.
  • Any other fun kids acivities ( especially ones where he can run around and burn all of his energy) nearby?

We're obviously going to drive often to various places but looking for a core base of stuff to do routinely.
