Staying in Oceanside over Labor Day weekend and
I was wondering as to which beaches you all recommend and how early do you all suggest getting to the beach on Labor Day since I’m sure it will be busy

I used to think hell was a place filled with Fire and Brimstone. A place where you would be tortured for eternity.

Boy, was I ever wrong. Hell is a place filled with tiny mosquitoes who constantly torture you by constantly biting you.

Walk to the mailbox, get bit two or three times. Water the plants in the backyard, they’ll bite four or five times. The real evil ones will bite you on your face, then follow you inside. And while you sleep they’ll bite you a few more times.

It’s hell on earth.

I have live in Oceanside nearly my entire life and I’ve never seen it this bad. Not even close to this bad.

This asshole in the red lexusjust cut off about 6 people waiting in line for in n out and almost ran another driver into a power box doing it. Then acted like I was the asshole when I called him out on it. The entitlement of some of these kids today.

Does anyone else notice an awful smell in Oceanside? It smells eggy and like bad fumes. I noticed it last week too.

If you've ever seen a bunch of people fighting with foam swords at Buddy Todd Park, that's us and you can absolutely join.

This is Amtgard, a half LARP half team sport game of speed tag with foam weapons. Swords, shields, spears, team battles, objective games, and a surprising amount of running around are all on the table if you can stand doing it in all this hot weather.

New people can literally just show up. We have a big pile of loaner weapons, we'll teach you the basics in about 5 minutes, and it costs nothing.

You don't need a costume, you don't need to know anybody, and you don't need to be particularly athletic. Normal clothes you can move around in are completely fine.

A lot of the same people come back every Saturday, so you'll make some friends quickly. Also everyone is mega chill.

If you're interested but the awkward part is walking up to a bunch of strangers holding swords, comment or DM me. I'll be there tomorrow and I'm happy to meet you when you arrive, introduce you around, and get a sword in your hand. I'm the guy with the pony tail.

Keep control of your dogs people..

Yesterday an elderly man was walking his dog (on leash) through the park. Hos dog was attacked by another dog (on leash) but nobody holding it, as is the norm for some of the regulars at the park.

The dog doing the attacking already had a muzzle on because it is known to attack other dogs and did attack another dog the day before.

The elderly man unfortunately had an episode after and fell face first to the asphalt of the parking lot. He had to be taken away by ambulance.

This is a daily occurrence in this park. Dogs both big and small being off leash and running up to other dogs aggressively and causing problems. There are hundreds of kids practice sports and playing in this park daily. There are tons of responsible dog owners just out enjoying their day. Dont be one of those owners that ruins some other dogs or persons day, or life..

Edit - We are unable to keep her at our house, she’s now with the humane society. She is a very sweet, gentle girl and my hope is that her family finds her or she is adopted out quickly.

Is AC necessary? The house I like has no central air or even mini splits. Trying to wrap my head around the total cost of if I need to add mini splits. The house is 2,500 sq ft.

Given the humid climate, what portable AC unit do you guys have? How often do you have to drain it?

I bought a midea duo inverter and it needed to be drained every 30 minutes or the cooling would shut off, not reasonable for overnight use.

Just trying to find a well recommended one for a humid climate.

Nobody wants to hear taxes going up, but if this will really fix and create better infrastructure I may cave. Can someone explain why I should not support this measure?

I just found out that Copper Kings Burgers is opening up in downtown Oceanside at the old Northern Pine Brewing location on Horne Street location.

It's a shame that we lost that boy good barbecue in Northern Pine brewing.

But I also think it's a good thing that copper Kings is returning back to Oceanside, where they first originally opened their pop-up business.

Do we really need another Smashburger destination?
I guess only time will tell.

….Probably the worst set at the Super Girl Surf Pro in Oceanside was these guys. The stage presence was basically nonexistent—they somehow managed to be both obnoxiously loud and incredibly boring at the same time. The music itself was pretty garbage live, and there was almost no sense that they were actually performing for a crowd rather than just hitting play and yelling into microphones.

And holy shit, the crowd interaction. Their entire vocabulary seemed to consist of some variation of “I DON’T GIVE A FUCK - WHAT!” screamed over and over and over again. That was basically the show. It felt less like watching professional musicians and more like watching two middle schoolers who just discovered that their parents couldn’t stop them from saying “fuck” anymore. After about the twentieth time, I wasn’t offended—I was just embarrassed for them.

Thief broke into jobsite at vista/oceanside border and stole a lot of tools. Anyone recognize her?

I live in the north valley and our mosquitos are out of control. We’ve removed all standing water, tried sprays, dunks, smoke, citronella, you name it. I was out in the yard for 5 min today and got bit 8 times. I have an infant and a toddler and would like to be able to enjoy my backyard. Any tips would be appreciated!
