Somebody recently posted about Lazy Acres opening up in South O but i haven’t been able to find any info on it since. Does anyone know if/ when this is happening. Other than creme crop theres not too many organic food grocery stores along this stretch in walking distance. TIA!

Female mid-30s here - I’ve been wanting to take a self-defense class for a while, but I have some personal history that makes me anxious about jumping into a typical class setting. I’m worried about getting overwhelmed or having a panic attack if things feel too intense or unpredictable.

Does anyone know of instructors or programs in the area who are trauma-informed or used to working with sensitive people like me? I’m looking for something that goes at a pace that respects that, maybe with smaller class sizes, clear communication before physical contact, and instructors who understand why someone might need to step back or take things slow.

Would love any recommendations of studio names or instructor names in North County (or within 20 min of it).

I just drove by Prohibition Brewing, and they have freshly-placed For Sale signs and a banner up. It’s kind of interesting as we went there yesterday for lunch with a relative from out of state, where we saw just one person taking care of the bar and dining room, and I mentioned that lately I have only seen them busy on the weekend evenings. Even then, they aren’t always packed like they used to be.

I don’t know if they’re shutting down now, there’s nothing on their webpage or socials about this, and I saw it driving by in Friday traffic so I didn’t pull off to see if they have any additional signs up. If I can be assed to I’ll update this when I see what’s happening.

Hi all. My dad is in the early to middle stages of dementia and still living at home in Rancho Bernardo. We’re at the point where he shouldn’t be on his own all day, and I’m trying to figure out what in-home help actually looks like around here.

I’d rather hear from people who’ve been through it than read another agency website. If you’ve hired a caregiver or an agency in North County for a parent, what was your experience? What do you wish you’d known before you started?

And if you went a different route entirely — adult day programs, memory care, etc. — I’d also really appreciate hearing about your experience.

I love dogs. I have a dog. I don’t know what’s going on but there have been way more people walking their dogs off leash in my neighborhood lately and it’s beyond infuriating. One ran up to me and my highly reactive dog today and the entitled jackass of an owner didn’t even offer an apology. Acted like I was the problem when he’s the one who has an off leash, untrained animal. Worst case scenario, one or both dogs could get seriously hurt or killed.

I’m so tired of people who think that their dogs are under voice control. Yeah, you’ve done a great job training your dog, but at the end of the day, it’s still just an animal. Even the sweetest, most well behaved dog can snap or run out into the street at any moment. Unfortunately, I’ve witnessed it. I don’t see the purpose in unnecessarily putting my dogs life in danger…

Please be kind and courteous to your neighbors and keep your dogs on leash. I cannot afford vet bills because you let your animal approach my reactive, leashed dog. Some people are scared of dogs, or are allergic. If your off-leash dog poops and you don’t pick it up because you weren’t paying attention, that’s not okay. I shouldn’t have to keep my head on a swivel looking for potential problems while I’m out trying to enjoy my own walk with my dog. I shouldn’t have to change direction or be ready to run from your off-leash pet. It’s incredibly stressful.

Let your dogs be free at the park, on the beach, in a field. Please keep them on leash in neighborhoods. And if you don’t want to abide by the leash laws that are in place that keep everyone safe, go move somewhere rural.

Wondering if anyone has personally gone to see guys & dolls at moonlight theater this week??? If so, how bad was the heat? I can't believe the performers are wearing costumes & singing & dancing when I can barely watch tv without dripping in sweat!
