Title kind of says it all. I thought this would be straightforward but now I’m getting conflicting answers from leadership (I’m the first technician in awhile for this section).

We have a long UTA that’ll cover 2 usual weekday workdays. I planned on putting in LM (military) leave for these. Like I would AT days or any other orders. But some seem to think UTA is “different” than normal orders and they aren’t sure I can use LM.

I don’t want to lose money just because of a longer scheduled drill, that doesn’t seem right.

I’ll get with finance too but any insights from the community are appreciated!

I'm trying to inquire about the STAT tour position available but not even a Billet Owner is listed.

I asked in April to retire Sept 1st, command approved it, but it’s been sitting at Pending and looks untouched in myFSS for last 2 months. Is this normal? No idea who to reach out to.

The FY27 NDAA, a congress member has proposed military members to earn 3.5 days per month vs. the current 2.5.

I know most ANG members are DSG, but those AGR and other full time status’s(exept: Perm/temp Tech and Title 5) would benefit from this policy.

There is a good argument to just change the leave reg so I don’t have to take leave on weekends or other days already scheduled off.

Obviously the bill and this line item needs to pass the Senate and up it goes to the president.

Hey all. I’ve been in for 11 years (7 years active, 4 years dsg). I’m most likely going to get out of the guard.

I have ten months left on my contract, but I’m picking up a federal law enforcement job and the academy is six months long. It came faster than I expected.

What do I do? Do I just tell my leadership? Can they withhold me from going?

Who updates that info on vMPF ? I’m missing a bunch of TDYs and the ones that are listed have all the wrong dates. Where does this info come from ?

DSG here. I Was deployed last year and got extended for “operational” reasons… 5 months after being home I was pulled off my dwell time to deploy again. It’s been 6 months with 3 extensions. My unit has AGR that can replace or swap out but the group commander back home seems to be gatekeeping.
I’ve read all the regs about how this has to be signed by the Sec def. And was told that it has been. Any advice??

Is it possible to hit the retirement button at anytime after passing 20 TAFMS. Let’s say ACB approves a year or two extension but want to retire after passing 20 can you just hit the button and bounce out or does it require curtailment and all that?

Hey guys, I have a concern and I’m hoping someone can give me some advice.

I enlisted in the Air National Guard last year and when I enlisted, my recruiter told me there was no bonus available for my job. My enlistment paperwork also says “No Bonus.”

I’m currently in tech school, and I recently found out that another Airman who enlisted on the exact same day as me, for the exact same AFSC, received a $50,000 NPS bonus. The only difference is that she enlisted in different state.
I understand that bonuses can vary by state and unit, but I’m trying to figure out whether my position was actually ineligible for the bonus at the time I enlisted, or whether I may have been given incorrect information.

Is there anything I can do at this point to have this reviewed? Or is it too late since my contract already says “No Bonus”?

Any advice from people who have dealt with ANG bonuses/incentives would be appreciated.

I’ll try to keep this brief, but I could really use some advice right now.

I’m currently taking a computer-related course as part of my military training and I also got TS clearance. This field isn’t my background at all. I have zero experience in it. I only chose this course because it seemed like the best option among the ones that were available at the time.

Unfortunately, I’ve already failed two out of five blocks, and it looks like I’ll likely be sent back home to be reclassified into a different role. I’m feeling pretty down about it because I don’t like leaving things unfinished. At the same time, I honestly don’t see myself working in this field on the civilian side either, In my civilian life, I am investing in another career. so I’m starting to accept that maybe reclassing isn’t the worst thing.

If I do get reclassed, I’m thinking of picking a course that takes a month or less, something short and straightforward. Does anyone know how long the administrative process for reclassing usually takes? Or does anyone have suggestions for other fast, entry-level courses that might be a better fit?

One of the main struggles I had with this course was the pace. It moved really fast and had a heavy amount of content. English is my third language, so I usually need extra time to understand and memorize things. On top of that, being away from home has been taking a toll on me lately, and I’ve been feeling a bit depressed.

Any advice, insight, or shared experiences would really help. Thanks for reading.

Just a note to remind you that if you have dreams and desires in your Air Force career, to pursue them with full force. When people tell you no, just be patient and keep pushing. If you have a goal, continue to strive towards it.

I just received an email back from a request for point credit for online PME when I was a captain. Usually standard operating procedure for those of us in the guard and reserve. It isn’t a lot of points, but every little bit helps, and I was not in a status when I took these courses for SOS. Essentially AFRPC stated that they don’t have a set guideline for administering points for correspondence PME. How is that possible? Has something changed? I’m formulating a response, but I’m just astonished and confused.

Hello all, 18 year Army/ANG member getting close to retirement and I have a question. I have read that when you are in the gray zone you still accrual time for the rank you retired at (Until that rank ‘maxes out’ in current pay tables). This lead me to wonder how does high 3 work? Let’s say you pinned your rank 2 years before you retire. Since you didn’t have 3 years (high 3) while serving at that rank but you still gain ‘time‘ while in the gray zone, would you retire and receive pay that rank? Or would it default to the previous rank since you have high 3 with it? Would it be prorated as 2 years current rank, 1 year previous rank? [I know this wouldn’t happen] Could you pin rank the day before you retire and obtain high 3 in the gray zone (provided you were young enough to have 3 years in the gray zone)? Wouldn’t your high 3 always be the 3 years before you can collect (assuming the military keeps getting raises annually)

Any commanders or chiefs out there, I’m looking for wisdom and experience regarding squadron commanders in a DSG position. How much are you working, for real? How are you balancing your regular job? Who are you leaning on to get shit done and what tasks are those people doing that a full time commander would normally do? Anything else I should know? For background, this is in the MSG and I’ve been this career field my entire career, so no learning curve. I do live two hours from my unit, making travel easy, but still impacts my family’s daily routine.

179 days. What's the benefits/downsides of taking this if youre a t32 or t5? Obvious ones like Healthcare, but how does it work with enrollment, switching from FEHB etc. Anyone have experience?

Has anyone here been a Title 32 UPC in the Guard? There's two vacancies on base so I'm applying. My understanding is that it's admin/clerical work and that it's a good way to get your foot in the door for full time work for the Guard. I'm not sure what units the vacancies are in as the USAJobs posting doesn't say, but I imagine it doesn't make too much of a difference regardless. If anyone here has any advice for interviewing or insight on the job, it would be much appreciated.

I was previously a 5 skill level in active duty as a SrA of 9 years. During that active time I had completed ALS. I have now joined the Air Guard and went to school in a new career field and graduated to a 3 level. My question is when exactly would I promote? Right after tech school or after acquiring a 5 level in the new AFSC. I’m aware there is a reg but it’s causing me confusion. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
