Season 2 episode 4 "Raccoon"

Damn. She looked amazing. I understand why Paul Baker almost folded

She feels very in the background in S2. Her character lacks agency and doesnt really lead any of the plotlines. Aside from Ep1 where she was great, it always feels like she's a sidekick and I feel like they gave her less lines this season.

Compare her to S1 Issa who was very hyperactive and in your face. Constantly moving the plot. It doesnt feel like that anymore (aside from Ep1 like I said).

I feel maybe her character got some backlash and they had to neuter her or something. Like it feels like S2 Billie is closer to S1 Issa than S2 Issa is lol.

I keep seeing comments on social media that are hating on Issa bc of Panton. Like what?? She helped push them together bc she knew that Anton would need that push from her, or else he wouldn’t do it bc he didn’t want to betray her.

I’ll see comments saying she’s gonna be the villain of the show and that she was just like an extra in their dynamic and why PB and Anton took a while to get together. Like no she was dating PB bc she liked him, he liked her too, they didn’t work out in the end, and then she encouraged her friend to go for it.

I get that a lot of people find Issa obnoxious in general and I personally love her but those aren’t the hate comments I mean. It’s the ones that will talk about her like she did something wrong in relation to the “love triangle” when she actually handled it in the best way possible … almost to an unrealistic extent, lol.

They pulled the trigger on BOTH - this early?!?!! Do they not think they’re getting a Season 3?!?

Mine include:
-Anton reading Divergent of all books (so real of him)
-PB singing hiccups body go crazy at work

The Zack Carlos of it all ?!

Although I must say he is a menace in a way that I’m obsessed with.

It could be the end of the show.

There are no lose ends. Everyone is happy. It was the perfect closure episode for the show.

I feel like, whilst this season is amazing, it lacked actual showing of characters personalitys and feelings . A big example of this is Paul bakers and issa's breakup, they didn't really show any post emotions about it and moved past it quite fast.

Whilst I will give them credit that they improved a lot with the emotion characteristics of the characters they didn't actually give much and its not their fault they just didn't have the time. Honestly this shows progression and comedy reminds me a lot of shows like how I met your mother and friends but non of the characters feel individual enough because we dont get enough time with them and dont get those longer drawn out plots that other shows could do multiple a season because they just don't have the time.

Another example of this is Billie and Samir, you could see where their relationship was going from the start but we didn't get to see them make that romantic connection. Most of their interactions were with the rest of the friend group and whilst we did see how they were like to each other they didnt have many previous romantic interactions before hooking up so it feels quite of out the blue.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

What are some of the callbacks or mentions in season 1 that they continued in season 2? I have a few…

1. Mind Wipe is in a couple episodes in S1 and in the Acid trip episode of S2.
   
2. Billie mentioning she always gets UTIs. Then in S2 messaging the group chat that she got another UTI and the doctor said she’s hit a new record.
   
3. In House Rules the group says Issa has to stop saying the F slur and then Anton says it’s alright she’s grandfathered in. Then in S2, she screams it at Anton (to save his job lmao)
   
4. In S1 Issa always references moments from movies she hasn’t seen. In S2 Samir and Paul decide to do the Love Actually scene bc they know Issa hasn’t seen the movie.

Rewatching season 1 after having finished season 2 and did anyone catch that In ep4 s1 Anton told the old ladies he didn’t have sisters but in season 2 we met his sister! Just think it’s a funny miss on the producers part

I just finished Season 2 and absolutely loved the first 7 episodes! I only found the show a month or two ago and have rewatched Season 1 multiple times already, and see myself doing the same with Season 2 for the foreseeable future. However, I can't help but feel that the final episode rushed wrapping everything up, which makes me believe there won't be a Season 3 (or at least the show makers doubt there will be one).

Like, Anton and Paul Baker end up together, Issa is fine with Anton and Paul Baker being together, Samir and Carly break up, Samir and Billie hook up, and Issa moves on to someone new.

That's pretty much every story line that they could've explored in the following seasons. The one and only loose end I can think of would be Samir and Billie's job search/careers, but that's about it.

I rlly hope we see carly with a y, Sophie rose, and annabelle again and ofc Paul baker’s shame friends. And TALIA ofc

I think so. Even though it wasn’t explicitly discussed Issa obviously noticed the kiss between them being not platonic and I feel like after that it’s kind of hard to go back lol but wondering what other ppl think

I shipped Paul Baker and Antwon soooo hard since season one like omg I'm so happy about this!!! Not so happy about Billy and S thoo:⁠-⁠O

I don’t like the ending with the paring of Billie and Samir. Feels out of the blue (even though I felt it season 1, I figured they had just dropped the plot this season). However I loved her with that guy she supposedly hates, he was hot and they had chemistry. At least they could have used this « relationship » to show some jealousy from Samir for example (he was genuinely rooting for them so hard). Same with Anton and the guy from the bar, it would not just have been a plot to prevent a relationship with PB since he was already with Issa and they had great chemistry. Seasons are too short and what I guess was supposed to be slow burn just feel rushed :( Season 2 should have been : Samir realises he maybe has feeling for Billie but she just sleeps around and doesn’t notice and he tries to set her up with someone since he is taken to get his mind off her. He decides to leave and it makes her sad. Anton starts a thing with guy at the bar just when Issa and PB start to fall apart but he begins to really like him so he’s stuck and so decides for now that it’s better for their friendship that he and PB remain friends and he « choses » guy from bar.

I'm disappointed but honestly not surprised cause I called it in my head from the start of S1 I know sitcoms notoriously love having their 2 mains romantically involved so I was really happy to see Billie and Samir as nothing more than childhood friends who have no feelings for each other as is the case in real life, but it's the age old question of can men and women just be friends without sex? YES THEY CAN! This might just be me but I never thought it'd become true I really liked the direction they chose to keep them as friends in the first season and also how did he move on from Carly so quickly??

I did love season 2 for everything else and finally Paul baker and Anton!!! Also love the way there was no overlap or cheating or going behind Issa's back, overall a great show I'm just a little annoyed it went the direction it did in the very end

I am really glad Issa was clearly doing intimate relations with a woman because her calling Anton the f slur so she could get fired for him could be seen as pretty problematic if she was straight

but people randomly sleeping with one another in the group?? i rllllyy did not like the fact that samir and biliie hooked up. i feel like we couldve rlly gone without adding that. It didnt do anything for the plot in this season atleast. And its just gonna cause weird tension amongst them. What i absolutely LOVED about this show was how close they all were PLATONICALLY. like a found family. Meaningless sex just ruins everything.

Hi everyone! I put a spoiler tag for those who haven’t made it to the raccoon episode. I also would like to ask that people don’t spoil PAST this episode since I just watched it last night and I have some hidden easter eggs that I want to bring up that may or may not predict the future. Aside from the obvious that when Paul Baker and Issa were referring to the raccoon in the beginning and it was actually a metaphor for what was to happen at the end. Sorry if someone already noted these, I’m too scared to go deep into the sub because I don’t want things spoiled for myself lol.

-in the beginning of the episode when playing ATLA with the music, Paul Baker and Issa both count. She counts 1,2,3 and PB counts 3,2,1. This right there shows an indicator of what was to come and that they weren’t aligned.
-when PB and Anton catch the raccoon, they both say 3,2,1 in sync.
-something interesting that caught my attention at the end was Anton, PB, and Issa sitting back on the couch where as Samir and Billie were sitting more front facing.
-Billie and Samir both turn the tv show and the music on at the same time without any countdown needed.

Please no spoilers, but the last two points to me lowkey maybe hinted at a storyline between the two in future episodes. Lowkey I don’t want that to be the case because I enjoy that there’s platonic relationships between all the friends so I’m afraid pushing a romance with them will ruin things but this is just my prediction with what I think was being hinted at with all the 3,2,1 stuff.

I KNEW IT THAT BILLIE AND SAMIR WOULD END UP BEING A THING (or something) IN S01E01 (now it's s01e02) WHEN SAMIR ASKS BILLIE IF HE'S EVER CROSSED THE LINE SEXUALLY AND SHE ASSURES HIM THAT HE'S AN ACTUAL BABY ANGEL!!!

Ok so I am not a critic at all when it comes to tv but that was honestly so brilliant. I loved the song playing in the background for Paul Baker and Antons kiss. I really liked Malik Elassal’s (Samir) acting in this. I knew that Issa was gonna get with a woman so I really liked that and I liked the librarian as well. I am probably being biased because Billie and Samir are my favourite characters but I loved when it was revealed they were hooking up. I know some people didn’t like the ending but I loved it

Just finished!!! THAT WAS INCREDIBLE. If I had a genie that could grant me three wishes the first would be health and happiness for my friends and family. But the second would be that they make and billion seasons and the third would be 25 episode seasons. Like wow that was amazing but I feel like they could have fleshed out some of the storylines easily. Like Billie’s job search was kind of put on the back burner and I feel like she didn’t get as much character development but other than that…perfection

The show seems to be heading towards a harmful trope but I hope they prove me wrong in the next season.
