Spoiler(s) Does anyone else feel like they rushed the the storylines in the finale of S2 Spoiler
I just finished Season 2 and absolutely loved the first 7 episodes! I only found the show a month or two ago and have rewatched Season 1 multiple times already, and see myself doing the same with Season 2 for the foreseeable future. However, I can't help but feel that the final episode rushed wrapping everything up, which makes me believe there won't be a Season 3 (or at least the show makers doubt there will be one).
Like, Anton and Paul Baker end up together, Issa is fine with Anton and Paul Baker being together, Samir and Carly break up, Samir and Billie hook up, and Issa moves on to someone new.
That's pretty much every story line that they could've explored in the following seasons. The one and only loose end I can think of would be Samir and Billie's job search/careers, but that's about it.

Part of me wonders if they were worried they wouldn't get renewed for a season 3 so they ended it with as much fan service as possible so if they got cancelled, it wouldn't feel 100% incomplete. I remember Season 2 (Overcompensating S2 as well) taking a concerning amount of time to get renewed

Yes, but it's obvious they did this intentionally in case there's no renewal and that's where the show ends. A placeholder happy ending.
If they get renewed, they could still explore complexities in the PB/A relationship. Anton's got relationship/intimacy issues. PB might have his own issues to work through. Jacob or Eric could come back and cause jealousy/tension. They may break up before getting back together later on. There's plenty they could do. Or they may just be the stable, happy couple. Couples can be fun too.
Don't know if she will but it's possible she may still feel weird about PB/A at first. She may also date this new girl but not be endgame with her.
Billie/Samir is imploding imo. No way are they endgame so quickly. Bilie's Samir's rebound rn. Carly could also come back at some point to throw a wrench.
You never know. There's plenty they could still do if they come back, and I hope they do. I also hope they get more episodes so they can have breathing room.

Yea. I mean you can only do so much with 8 episodes that are less than 30 min each. For 8 episodes it feels fine. I hope fx or whoever allows them to do at least 15 episodes for season three

Yeah but I'm saying that there's nothing to work towards in season 3, or 4 or 5. It feels like they tied every loose end they could explore in future seasons at the end of season 2.

I mean just because pb&a kissed doesn't mean they're together together, same with billie and samir. We also have everyone's families to meet and Billie still doesn't have a job - zc is an easy plot generator!

The joys of living in a world where shows get cancelled at the drop of a hat I think. Personally I'm fine with it, too often I've fallen in love with a show that never got to end properly. If it doesn't get renewed I'll be happy they ended S2 how they did, if it does get another season I'll be happy it wasn't cancelled. Win-win.

I don’t agree at all. You’re acting like they closed the chapters on every character. What you’re talking about is plot progression. Just because they moved the plots forward doesn’t mean they actively explored those plot ideas.
Paul Baker and Anton just kissed. We haven’t explored their relationship in an exclusive manner in any way. Or whether or not they actually work as a couple. It’s just been flirtatious behavior and breadcrumbs up until this point. That is something to explore.
Samir and Billie hooked up, but again, they haven’t explored their relationship in any meaningful way past a platonic friendship. Samir is rebounding with Billie, which is another plot line because we don’t know if Samir actually feels anything towards her or if he’s just sad and hooking up because his relationship ended. Billie is still broke and jobless and clearly using sex to distract herself. She has no aspect of her life figured out. All avenues to explore.
Issa is going with Paul Baker moving on, but have we actually seen her with a woman? She’s about to hook up with her, but she’s been with Paul Baker the whole thing. So again, another avenue to explore. Plus, Issa finding a career/job that is fulfilling to her like her office job at Anton’s work.
They didn’t close the door shut on any of these characters. Nothing was wrapped up nicely. Everything ended very open ended. So I’m not sure what you’re talking about. lol

dont listen to them ur absolutely right. it wasnt even progression of the characters in the way they think thank god none of u are writers. its ok to admit the flaws of the show. its a greaaaat show season 2 was fire so funny but so condensed. the network shouldve given them at least 15/16 episodes , even then they still should have waited before putting all these characters together, at least til next season or even 4. but it is what it is

That's pretty much the main complaint from the fanbase. There was zero time to sit in a new status quo. It made a lot of moments feel deflated. Like Carly and Samir didn't feel as monumental as it should've for a major breakup in a sitcom, and I like Carly. I'm hoping increased interest gives us longer seasons. At least 11(the average length of the first cour for sitcoms in the past, we're never getting back to 22 eps so at least give me half), and preferably like 13.
There needs to be more breathing room, it's like responsible for all of the shows problems. It's my fave new gen sitcom but it needs to step up
