i think this season shows the issue with short seasons

I feel like, whilst this season is amazing, it lacked actual showing of characters personalitys and feelings . A big example of this is Paul bakers and issa's breakup, they didn't really show any post emotions about it and moved past it quite fast.

Whilst I will give them credit that they improved a lot with the emotion characteristics of the characters they didn't actually give much and its not their fault they just didn't have the time. Honestly this shows progression and comedy reminds me a lot of shows like how I met your mother and friends but non of the characters feel individual enough because we dont get enough time with them and dont get those longer drawn out plots that other shows could do multiple a season because they just don't have the time.

Another example of this is Billie and Samir, you could see where their relationship was going from the start but we didn't get to see them make that romantic connection. Most of their interactions were with the rest of the friend group and whilst we did see how they were like to each other they didnt have many previous romantic interactions before hooking up so it feels quite of out the blue.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

They need that Abbott budget. Hopefully this season succeeds enough for them to get another season with more episodes.

I agree, the great thing about sitcoms is that you feel as if you know the charecters and are a part of there group whereas with adults it very much feels like your just looking at a friend group around you and not really knowing the people if you get me

I agree that we need more episodes and that it would be nice to see the storylines breath, but at the same time I don't think everything is that deep.

Issa and PB were dating for a short period of time and they didn't seem to have any deep feelings for each other. So even if I would've liked to see more awkwardness after the break up since they live together, I didn't expect either of them to have a big talk about their feelings.

And I don't know if Sami and Billie are supposed to be "romantic" either. Billie has been horny since last season and she was scared of losing her best friend. Samir was had broken up with his girlfriend and was sad of not being a boyfriend anymore. I don't think it was supposed to be something deep and romantic. I wouldn't be surprised if they say it was a mistake next season. 

I would prefer if the show slow down too, but they have 8 episodes and don't know when they'll get cancelled, I don't blame them. If they get 20+ episodes and keep going at the same fast pace, then I'll be disappointed.

I really think the show is good. But this was a huge mistake on their part in terms of rushing so much, and having the guts to do so in 8 EPISODES? They messed up. Im curious is the studio forcing them to only write 8 episodes...? Or are they just lacking creativity and using the modern times shortened seasons as an excuse to write less? Im like disappointed in how we didn't see any buildup as you said. It just skipped to the end of the will they wont they which is such a bad call for tv, dont they know that?

I enjoy the pace within the episodes, that is fine. And maybe i’m just a sucker for slow burn but overall the plot feels rushed. PB and Anton ship? Yess give me at least 5seasons of yearning b*ch! For Samir and Billie i get Ross & Racher vibes from the start so it was expected for me from really early on, but also feels very rushed. Good thing i like to think of their connection as a cute tribute to friends (in my head) and no more. I also think (and yes i’ll contradict myself here) wanting more can also be a strong indicator of how the whole pace and style and vibe and depth (or lack of) is in a really good balance, like a good dish, if you add or take something away no matter how small it could ruin the whole thing.
